It’s over! Xiali looked helplessly at Su Nian. She never expected things to develop like this. Based on Yun Buran’s previous behavior, shouldn’t she have demanded a kiss?
“Yes and no.”
Aaaaaaaah! Xiali frantically extended her claws and kept scratching the cushion.
Why couldn’t Su Nian use his top-tier brain to trick Yun Buran?
Yun Buran lowered her head and said nothing. The two descended slowly in the Ferris wheel.
“Let’s talk somewhere else.”
As they were about to get off the Ferris wheel, Su Nian spoke.
Yun Buran picked up her bag and walked ahead in silence, her expression unreadable.
Xiali was flitting around anxiously but didn’t say anything more. She still trusted Su Nian.
Just as after the sunset, in the vast night sky, no more stray clouds fly across, the atmosphere between them reached a freezing point—worlds apart from when they entered the park.
“Have fun!”
The ticket inspector noticed the two of them walking in a strained one-after-the-other manner, but he still cheerfully congratulated them.
“A couple having a spat—that’s youth.”
Yun Buran kept walking ahead. Su Nian didn’t know where she was going. Perhaps she was waiting for him to come up and pull her.
Yun Buran soon stopped under a streetlamp, in a quiet, deserted place.
She didn’t speak, but finally turned her gaze back to Su Nian’s face.
Her expression was blank, but her gaze was so stubborn it seemed to burn Su Nian.
“Xiali, come out.”
Xiali flustered for a moment but obediently canceled her concealment.
At the sudden appearance of a magical cat in midair, Yun Buran was not overly surprised. She had already glimpsed Xiali a few times before.
“Fated One, I am the Daughter of Hell, Xiali.”
Xiali introduced herself solemnly. At this moment, she was no longer the little kitten she once was, but a long-haired, large Maine Coon that looked very majestic.
Yun Buran remained silent. She knew Su Nian would explain everything thoroughly to her.
“As you can see, everything is just as you imagined. I do have ulterior motives.”
Su Nian spoke calmly, then began to recount from an objective perspective the entire process of his meeting with Xiali up to now.
“That’s the whole story. I’ve now removed the cognitive influence on you. You can verify it with your mind reading.”
“Who knows if someone like you can even deceive yourself?”
Yun Buran spoke with a slightly hoarse voice. Even though she had mentally prepared herself, she still found Su Nian terrifying.
“Trust is mutual. I never had any intention of harming you, so naturally I can speak frankly now. There’s no need to lie.”
Su Nian said with composure.
Yun Buran had already believed him, but she was still digesting the information and calming her inner emotions.
“So, there’s a demon hiding deep inside me, right?”
“That’s right. It will slowly be born into this world using you as an anchor, and it will trigger the Doomsday Crisis.”
Xiali added a bit of a threatening tone.
Yun Buran paid no attention to her, still staring at Su Nian.
“Your motivation? Saving the world?”
Yun Buran was no longer the same as before. She felt she was constantly becoming more clear-headed, so in her extremely complicated state, she kept putting herself in his shoes based on her understanding of Su Nian.
“Because I find it interesting. It will be a very fun challenge.”
“So, just because you’re somewhat interested, and with the attitude of ‘if I decide to do it, I’ll do it best,’ you’ve come this far?”
Yun Buran asked.
Su Nian chuckled lightly and nodded slightly. This was his achievement.
“The most efficient method would have been to date me, right?”
‘If only he gave me a little love, I could grow tenaciously. Even a demon wouldn’t scare me.’
Yun Buran thought bitterly.
“It seems your understanding of me isn’t deep enough, so you can’t analyze my thoughts.”
“You only let me see the parts you wanted me to see.”
Yun Buran said sarcastically. Yes, she was supposed to be like this all along: aloof, weird, sharp-tongued, cold, and extremely difficult to get along with.
Before Su Nian came, that’s how she was always described.
“Then, Miss Yun Buran, if you were in my position, how would you redeem yourself?”
Su Nian guided gently.
“I don’t need saving!”
Yun Buran suddenly exploded.
Xiali kept estimating Yun Buran’s current degree of demonization—if it came to a fight, could she guarantee Su Nian’s safety?
“I could have endured all this! Why did you barge into my life?”
“You’re the real demon, Su Nian.”
Yun Buran seemed to have used up all her strength. She was panting heavily, biting her lip tightly, but still couldn’t stop the tears from falling.
Su Nian let out a sigh. Actually, it was still within his control, but whenever he encountered tears, he was still easily affected.
“Then why don’t you keep lying to me? Even if it’s fake love, I’m willing to pretend to be deaf and dumb.”
Yun Buran’s voice grew more choked. Her lip was already broken, turning from pink to blood red.
“I can’t go back to how I was before!”
“Because that was that stupid cat’s idea. I never planned to redeem you.”
After hearing Su Nian’s words, Yun Buran began to sob convulsively.
Su Nian pulled her directly into his arms.
“Because I want you to save yourself. One day you’ll understand me.”
“Get lost!”
Yun Buran struggled fiercely.
‘No matter what, I want you to be well—that is the truest thing.’
‘I’m not a monster. I’m human too. None of what we experienced together was fake.’
‘I invest feelings too, and they become precious memories.’
Yun Buran slowly stopped struggling. She opened her arms and wept hard in Su Nian’s embrace. Su Nian didn’t speak, but the two understood each other’s hearts.
When she finally tired herself out from crying, Su Nian took a tissue from her bag and gently wiped her tears and nose.
“It’s all your fault! I look so ugly!”
“My fault.”
“Why did you become my tutor? Why did you cook for me? Why did you come out with me? Why were you good to me?”
Yun Buran asked rapidly in a hoarse voice, choking mid-sentence.
“I want you to love yourself a little more.”
Yun Buran couldn’t help but cry out a hiccup, which stopped her tears. She buried her head in Su Nian’s chest in defeat.
“Hahahahaha.”
Su Nian was amused by her.
‘How can someone cry so adorably?’
Yun Buran blushed even more and lightly pinched him.
Xiali had already retreated to a distance, leaving the space for the two. After all, with her eyesight, she could still easily peek.
“So sincerity really is the ultimate skill, huh?”
“But what are you going to do in the future? The demon hasn’t shown any signs of appearing, Su Nian.”
Xiali murmured to herself.
