The two of them fed each other mouthfuls, and the ice cream was quickly finished.
Yun Buran had prepared herself mentally, waiting for Su Nian’s turn, but Su Nian surprised her again.
“I can’t think of anything fun. How about this: you can still keep making requests, but they’ll be owed to me, and I’ll assign them back in terms of studying.”
“Isn’t that too unfair?”
Both of them knew that no matter what Su Nian arranged for studying, Yun Buran would obediently follow.
“They’re serious requirements, like making you finish a whole workbook in three days. Still want to continue?” Su Nian said seriously.
“Yes!”
Yun Buran wasn’t afraid of hardship; effort was her talent. Su Nian was blatantly doting on her.
So she started to take advantage of his favor and constantly test boundaries.
“Let’s go to the haunted house, but you have to hold my hand.” Yun Buran said cautiously.
She sometimes thought that if her ability to read minds were exposed, she’d be seen as a freak. Who would dare let her listen to their inner thoughts all the time?
“Okay.”
Su Nian directly took her small hand. His hand wasn’t very big, just much longer and slender than hers. Both their hands were fair and soft, but Su Nian’s hand shape was better, with clear bone structure.
‘We’re really at the haunted house part? It shouldn’t be too scary, right?’
‘I’ll keep giving myself psychological hints. It’s all just environmental pressure through visuals and sounds.’
‘As long as I don’t get immersed and detach myself, I won’t be scared, but that seems no fun.’
Yun Buran was still feeling the touch of Su Nian’s hand when all these voices came into her mind.
‘Speaking of which, she won’t pretend to be scared and deliberately burrow into my arms later, right? No, she doesn’t need to pretend.’
Yun Buran held back the urge to kick him, not expecting to be so disliked. But on the other hand, she found Su Nian really cute—he usually spoke so little, but inside he was a secret chatterbox.
She wouldn’t burrow into his arms just to take advantage!
The two of them played the Haunted School scenario because it was the most immersive.
Ethereal instrumental music swirled in their ears, and the familiar scenes from daily life became eerie and barely recognizable. Yun Buran was still so scared she couldn’t help burrowing into Su Nian’s arms.
‘Why does this campus backstory have a bit of a Japanese style? Anyway, she really did jump into my arms out of fear.’
Listening to Su Nian’s thoughts, Yun Buran’s fear eased quite a bit, but in Su Nian’s warm embrace, she really didn’t want to come out.
She sometimes wished she could turn off the mind reading, but she would pretend not to hear the bad thoughts.
Even though Su Nian was internally complaining and finding her annoying, she was lost in the scent of his body, unable to pull herself away.
Sigh. Su Nian sighed, feeling that his sacrifices were many, and his bottom line was really getting lower and lower.
He had understood a long time ago that many things were either zero times or infinite times, and once the bottom line moved, it would cease to exist.
So in interactions with the opposite sex, he had always been strict with himself. He wasn’t asexual; he was also a teenage boy.
But he knew that once he opened the door, his whole life would be devoured. He loved himself—both the self of yesterday and the self of tomorrow.
So he always maintained a love for life and cherished his future.
But now, to save the world and for the efficiency of the plan, he moved his bottom line.
Oh well. From the day he picked up this stupid cat, he had expected that he couldn’t avoid the fate of romantic entanglements, even though he had been trying to reject the opposite sex’s harassment his whole life.
Su Nian held Yun Buran in the dim corridor. In truth, in such a scary scene, there should have been a lot of conversation to ease the mood, but the two were very silent.
Yun Buran because she could hear Su Nian’s rich inner thoughts, and she had already buried her face in him and enjoyed it.
And Su Nian because there was a cat that was particularly ruining the atmosphere.
Earlier when playing the rides, they basically let Xiali guard the bags outside, but at the haunted house, that jerk insisted on following in, and now she kept running her mouth.
“This haunted house is pretty mediocre. I don’t get what you humans are afraid of.”
“There’s a person around the corner who’s planning to reach out.”
Su Nian was speechless. Everyone saw the world differently, and this illiterate cat couldn’t get into it at all. It would be weird if she was scared.
Any inner thoughts related to demons, strategy, or Xiali were blocked from Yun Buran, so Su Nian had successfully used his inner thoughts to counter Yun Buran many times, but this time he planned to be considerate.
‘If I were the owner, I would arrange a jump scare at the next corner.’
But Yun Buran was fully focused on cuddling, so she didn’t react at first.
In the darkness, an arm suddenly landed on her shoulder.
‘This couple is really good-looking. I really want to see them scared to tears.’
A different voice suddenly popped into her mind, directly startling Yun Buran into jumping up.
“Ahh!”
Su Nian covered his ears, and the NPC also cooperated by roaring wildly, making Su Nian’s inner collapse even worse.
“Hahahahaha, you actually got scared.” Xiali laughed in the air, ruining the atmosphere, though a black cat flying and laughing maniacally should have been more terrifying.
After they came out of the haunted house, they felt like survivors of a disaster. Yun Buran was truly scared to the point of collapse; basically all the NPCs came after them specifically, ignoring the other visitors.
She felt she wouldn’t dare to be at school at night anymore.
And Su Nian was just mentally exhausted. Every time Yun Buran got scared and clung to him, the monsters would chase them, and he had to cooperate by holding her and running, while above them a worthless cat kept laughing and laughing.
He thought he had been too tired lately and this date could be a way to relax, but Su Nian felt deeply broken.
“Phew, let’s go play the river rapids!”
“Are you sure you want to go in that outfit?”
Well, Yun Buran had also thought about asking Su Nian to take off the raincoat halfway through, but it was better not to ruin their refined outfits.
The two of them actually played few thrill rides today, not just because of their outfits, but more because the lines were too long, so they went to play some milder rides together.
“The parade is starting! Quick, quick, quick!”
Su Nian didn’t let the girl drag him to the front row, though he was relieved; this girl usually didn’t like crowded places.
Yun Buran also noticed that the crowd around her had grown, and with inevitable physical contact, random thoughts from unknown people would occasionally drift into her mind, dampening half her excitement.
“You’re wearing shorts under your skirt, right?”
Yun Buran nodded dumbly. Although she usually dressed very coolly in front of Su Nian, she was still modest when going out.
When Su Nian directly crouched down, Yun Buran understood his intention and couldn’t help her eyes lighting up.
She carefully pressed down her skirt and climbed onto Su Nian’s shoulders. She knew that under his seemingly proportional body, there was a lot of muscle.
Feeling the sudden elevation and the peculiar sensation of contact made her face very red, but today had really thickened her skin, so she didn’t care about the stares of others.
Gently hugging Su Nian’s head, she could clearly see all the parade scenery from his shoulders, but her enthusiasm for the parade had vanished because her heart had flown to the person beneath her; she felt like she was above the whole world.
To be considerate of Su Nian, they didn’t watch for long and went to have dinner.
As the sky darkened, the park became brighter, but the lights were painted in multicolors. Yun Buran felt that they hadn’t had enough; in fact, they had played less than half of the rides in a whole day.
But she knew it was time to go. Su Nian liked well-behaved kids.
“For the last ride, let’s go on the Ferris wheel.” Yun Buran said softly.
“What’s the request?” Su Nian raised an eyebrow.
“I’ll tell you when we reach the top.” Yun Buran buried her reluctance and put on a playful girlish look.
“Wow, feels like we’re about to trigger a CG!” Xiali exclaimed. “You’ll be at the top of the Ferris wheel, she’ll confess passionately, then fireworks explode, you embrace and kiss, and finally I’ll strongly receive the Authority of Jealousy!”
Xiali seemed to see the dawn of victory.
“No kissing.” Su Nian shook his head. And regardless of whether it was collected, his goal was not yet complete.
While in line, Yun Buran was still chattering with Su Nian. She seemed to have endless things to say, never stopping, even though Su Nian was mostly just a listener.
After entering the cabin, the two sat opposite each other. Yun Buran no longer pressed tightly against Su Nian. She looked out the glass, admiring the rainbow-lit night, and murmured softly, “So nice.”
Su Nian was silent, but Xiali beside him kept an eye on the height, filled with anticipation.
When they reached the highest point, it would pause for a moment, so it was truly a perfect opportunity for their hearts to connect.
But Yun Buran knew that they were not connected. She might have mind reading, but Su Nian had never truly opened his heart to her.
“Su Nian, my last request is that I hope you can sincerely answer one question for me, okay?”
“Okay.” Su Nian nodded lightly, expressionless, as if returning to the cold version of himself from the beginning.
Xiali looked nervously at Su Nian. She felt he was a man who could instantly say “I have no feelings for you.”
It stopped—both the Ferris wheel and breathing—but the girl’s mouth didn’t stop.
“Su Nian, what exactly are you after by treating me like this? Is it the mind reading?”
