After these two rounds of combat, Anya had discovered something suspicious: the humans here did not seem to possess Douqi, only Magical Power.
However, Mages were still a rare profession, which was evident from the composition of this group of Priests.
Among the dozen or so people, only three could be called Mages.
A question mark appeared in Anya’s mind, but her hands did not hesitate for a second.
The remaining four Priests were quickly forced back by her, their eyes filled with wariness.
Because Xiaobai was behind her, Anya did not dare to push too far forward.
After all, she could not yet take down four people plus a Mage while simultaneously looking after Xiaobai.
The Mage’s incantation was nearing its end, and the Magical Power surrounding him was incredibly dense.
Seeing this, the four Priests no longer attacked rashly. They gathered in front of the Mage to form a guard.
Anya was now in a difficult position. If she forced her way through, she could certainly break the enemy’s defense and take the Mage’s life, but Xiaobai would most likely suffer.
But if she sat back and did nothing, would Xiaobai’s meager Magical Power really be able to withstand the Mage’s finished incantation?
The stalemate persisted; neither choice seemed right. Anya couldn’t help but think of the Converter. If the System were still there, she wouldn’t be in such a pathetic state.
“Everyone, charge! Kill her! Just leave that little Mage behind her alive!” The Mage suddenly opened his eyes, his gaze terrifyingly gloomy. “Avenge our fallen brothers!”
Before his roar even faded, a burst of Fire Magic erupted.
A massive Fireball soared into the sky, instantly transforming into a flock of Fire Crows that dove down with piercing screams, heading straight for Anya.
“I’d like to see how you block this!” The Mage laughed sinisterly, waving his hand to signal the others to attack.
The eyes of the four remaining Priests were bloodshot. The tragic deaths of their companions had clearly ignited their fury as they raised their Longswords and pounced toward Anya.
The Fire Crows flew fast and aggressively, yet they strangely avoided the four Priests, focusing their fierce assault only on Anya.
Anya turned sideways to dodge one Fire Crow, but the corner of her clothes was still grazed by another, instantly emitting sparks.
She frowned and quickly swung her sword to strike it down, but she had clearly underestimated the threat.
The temperature of the Fire Crow was terrifyingly high. The Longsword was instantly scorched red and deformed, breaking into two pieces with a “clack.”
Half of it even turned into molten iron and dripped onto the ground.
“Tch…” Anya clicked her tongue. She suddenly had no suitable weapon in her hand.
“Anya, I’ll help you!” Xiaobai, behind her, had just finished her incantation. A sacred white light instantly enveloped Anya, actually isolating all the Fire Crows on the outside.
“What kind of Magic is this?” Anya was very surprised.
The feeling of this Magic was too familiar; it was quite similar to what Lina had released back then, but this sacred aura was more than twice as intense.
Could Xiaobai’s Magic be from the same source as a Holy Knight’s?
Anya remembered clearly that the Holy Light Empire worshipped Oli, so Lina’s Magic was bound to be related to Oli.
As for Xiaobai’s Magic…
Was it possible that she was also connected to Oli? This guess seemed reasonable, but Anya still couldn’t be certain if Xiaobai was actually Iris.
Anya was still profoundly shocked that Xiaobai’s magical light screen kept the Fire Crows out.
How could Magical Power that wasn’t even at the first rank block Second Rank Fire Magic?
Not only was Anya shocked, but the Mage opposite her was even more incredulous, and he hurriedly increased the fire output.
Anya looked back at Xiaobai. The girl’s face was pale, but she still said firmly, “Anya, go deal with that Mage. I can hold on for a little longer.”
As soon as she finished speaking, she couldn’t help but gasp for air, fine beads of sweat seeping from her forehead.
Seeing this, Anya no longer hesitated. Since this light screen could block the Fire Crows, it should also be able to withstand the blades of those four men.
She had to find a weapon first, otherwise, how could she take the Mage’s head?
With a flash of thought, Anya charged straight toward one of the Priests.
The Priest clearly hadn’t expected her to turn so suddenly and hurriedly raised his Longsword to slash at her.
Anya’s eyes narrowed as she suddenly kicked off the ground and leapt, stomping her foot heavily onto the man’s shoulder!
The Priest was sent staggering, and the Longsword in his hand flew out.
Anya took the opportunity to catch the Longsword, using the Priest’s body as a springboard to leap up and lunge straight for the Mage.
The Mage’s expression changed drastically when he saw this, and he hurriedly ordered all the Fire Crows to attack Anya.
“Not good! Go grab the one behind her first! Let’s see if she still dares to move!” The Mage’s face twisted as he shrieked the order.
Upon hearing this, the Priests immediately changed direction and lunged toward Xiaobai.
Anya felt a surge of panic; she knew she had to be fast!
While dodging the incoming Fire Crows, she rapidly closed in on the Mage, arriving within ten meters in the blink of an eye.
The Mage gritted his teeth and swept his hands forward. The Fireballs in the sky no longer split into Fire Crows but instead condensed into balls of intense flame, smashing straight toward Anya.
“So what if you’re close? Die for me! You foolish little girl!”
The Fireballs arrived in front of Anya in an instant, accompanied by a crackling explosion.
The corners of the Mage’s mouth curled up, thinking victory was within his grasp.
But in the next second, a completely different atmosphere erupted from Anya’s body.
“What is this? It’s not Magical Power! What kind of power is this?!” The Mage was frightened out of his wits and hurriedly accelerated the falling Fireballs.
Anya simply smiled, her heart becoming even more certain of her guess. “This is a power you don’t know. Now, the tables have turned!”
The Mage refused to believe it and continued his attack. “Hmph, playing tricks. I don’t believe you have the ability to dodge my attacks!”
However, under the enhancement of Douqi, Anya’s speed was incredibly fast; those Fireballs seemed as slow as snails in her eyes.
She easily circled behind the Mage, her Longsword coated in a layer of Purple Battle Qi as she said coldly, “Has no one told you that playing with fire in the Forest is very dangerous?”
The Longsword slashed down, and Purple Battle Qi erupted alongside fresh red blood.
The Mage didn’t even have time to scream before he fell into a pool of blood.
Anya wiped the blood spatters from her face with disgust and turned to charge toward the four Priests surrounding Xiaobai.
By this time, Xiaobai could no longer hold on. Her Magical Power had become thin, and her breathing was so heavy it seemed she was about to suffocate.
But when she looked up and saw the blue-haired figure rushing over, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Anya was quick and efficient, resolving the remaining Priests in a short while.
Xiaobai withdrew her Magical Power, her body going limp as she prepared to collapse, but luckily Anya caught her in time.
“Are you okay, Xiaobai?” Anya looked at her pale face, her voice full of worry.
“I’m… I’m fine, *cough, cough, cough*…” Xiaobai suddenly began to cough violently, her expression pained.
“What’s wrong?” Anya’s heart sank as she quickly checked her condition.
Xiaobai waved her hand weakly and pointed at the nearby Zephyra, her voice faint.
“It’s nothing serious, just my chronic illness acting up… Don’t worry about me, go help her first.”
