Everyone present was momentarily stunned when they saw the newcomer. Anya looked at Zephyra with a face full of shock.
Why had this Princess of the Dragonkin come back to find her again? Hadn’t she already told her to leave?
Anya was a little confused.
The leading Priest pushed up his glasses, his tone still fairly polite: “Miss, we are Divine Envoys, and we are handling important matters. If these two are your friends, could you allow us to finish our business first before you reunite?”
“Divine Envoys? Never heard of you!” Zephyra straightened her small back, her voice crisp and bold, yet carrying a fearless arrogance.
“You bunch of scoundrels don’t deserve that title! Today I’m taking these two with me—let’s see who dares to stop me!”
The Priests exchanged glances.
The one in front frowned deeply, and as he lowered his head, a cold gleam flashed from his glasses.
“It seems this young lady is also disrespectful to the gods. In that case, don’t blame us for being impolite.”
Zephyra curled her lip, her face full of disdain: “A bunch of hypocrites! Snatching away my assistants wasn’t enough, and now you’re putting on that sanctimonious act—disgusting!”
Her words completely infuriated the leading Priest. He gave a cold snort.
“Enough talk! Do it! Arrest them all and bring them to the cathedral for His Holiness the Pope to judge!”
“Yes, sir!” The group of Priests could hardly hold back any longer. Some rushed at Zephyra, while the others surrounded Anya and Xiaobai.
Hearing Zephyra’s words, Anya couldn’t help feeling that she might be misunderstanding something.
Still, having one more ally in this situation was certainly a good thing.
She pressed her lips together, looking at the Priests closing in.
Then she turned and whispered to Xiaobai behind her: “Don’t stray too far from me. Stand right behind me—I’ll protect you.”
Xiaobai nodded obediently. Right now, she really couldn’t help much; all she could do was quietly stay behind Anya.
Among the Priests coming for Anya, one was a magician, while the rest were Swordsmen.
Anya quickly sized up her opponents. One was indeed a magician, the rest Swordsmen.
But those Swordsmen likely weren’t even first-tier in strength—their level was about the same as the two men she had dealt with earlier.
However, the magician had a steady aura; he looked like a second-tier, which was something to be cautious of.
Anya had already experienced how impactful a magician could be on the battlefield. But now, without the Converter’s help, she could only use Douqi.
“Little girl, don’t say we’re bullying you with numbers.” One Priest rushed forward with his Longsword, his tone unfriendly. “Who told you to blaspheme against the gods?”
“This guy still loves showing off,” the magician at the back waved his hand nonchalantly, “but they’re just two little girls. We can easily handle them, there’s no need for us to step in.”
The others agreed. In their eyes, the two girls showed barely any magical fluctuation—there was no way they could be a threat.
But in the next second, their faces were slapped hard by reality.
Anya merely smiled lightly. With a casual lift of her hand, she knocked aside the opponent’s thrusting Longsword. Then her right fist tightened, and with a light swing—
The Priest’s jaw went crooked on the spot. He let out a muffled groan from the pain, clutching his chin and stumbling backward, his eyes filled with disbelief.
Anya didn’t give her a chance to catch her breath. Stepping forward, she lashed a precise whip kick at the opponent’s crotch, followed by another kick, sending the person flying.
“What?!” The magician’s eyes widened in utter disbelief.
This girl didn’t look more than seventeen or eighteen—how could she have such strength? His companion was taken down by her so easily?
The others’ jaws nearly hit the floor. They hurriedly swarmed forward, trying to gang up on Anya.
At the same time, the leading Priest’s mouth twitched, and he cursed under his breath, “A bunch of idiots! If you can’t even handle two little girls, don’t bother calling yourselves Divine Emissaries when you get back!”
Hearing this, the Priests immediately shed their carelessness. Each became more serious as they pressed in on Anya and Xiaobai.
Seeing this, Anya instantly drew the Longsword from the Priest she had just beaten and gripped it in her own hand.
It wasn’t a Heavy Sword, but with her years of Sword Technique training, dealing with these Priests was more than enough.
The main concern was still that second-tier magician behind them.
Anya focused her gaze on the magician. He was already chanting under his breath, apparently preparing to cast a Spell.
“Anya-jie, let me handle that magician. You just focus on these people,” Xiaobai suddenly spoke from behind.
Anya glanced back, meeting Xiaobai’s clear blue-amber eyes and found herself momentarily dazed.
So much like the sincere Iris who had once opened her heart to her…
Anya quickly collected herself, nodded, and charged at those who were closing in.
Xiaobai lowered her head, pulled out a Staff, and began chanting a Magic incantation. A faint blue magical wave spread out, making Anya feel inexplicably reassured.
It seemed Xiaobai was also a first-tier magician. No wonder she’d been able to evade capture for so long.
But what was this magical fluctuation? Why did it feel so comforting? Her mind even seemed to grow clearer.
Anya was a bit surprised, but she didn’t comment. She focused all her attention on the enemies before her.
“Just a little girl, and she still dares to be so arrogant? Think a weapon is enough to beat us? Too naïve!” a Priest sneered, swinging his Longsword.
Anya’s expression didn’t change. To her, his moves looked like a child playing with a toy—his weaknesses were obvious.
She redirected his force and shoved him away, parried an attack from the left, then kicked the Priest on her right, sending him flying.
“Don’t get cocky! Did you already forget what just happened? Be careful, all of you!” The magician at the back warned his companions.
Though the Priests were annoyed, they took things more seriously.
Anya held the Longsword, swinging it lightly. The nimble feeling was something a Heavy Sword user like her was not used to. She was still adjusting to the Longsword’s balance and thus didn’t attack right away.
Five Priests rushed her again, forming a four-sided encirclement, hoping to capture Anya in one go before turning to deal with Xiaobai.
But after countless deadly fights in the System Space, Anya’s reflexes far surpassed ordinary people. How could she give them such an opportunity?
She first parried the one in front’s Longsword, twisted her wrist to disarm him, then thrust her blade forward, piercing his chest with precision. With a follow-up kick, she sent him sprawling away.
Catching the falling Longsword, her figure blurred as she slipped out of their encirclement.
In just a few seconds, a Priest lay unmoving on the ground. This scene left the onlookers rattled.
How could a girl have such skill? They had never seen a human move so quickly—she seemed more like some kind of agile non-human.
