There are three major Survivor Enclaves in H City: the skyscraper Bai Nian encountered before, the School from earlier, and finally, a last line of defense made up of Official Leadership.
They are gathered inside the Bank Tower, home to several Doctors and top-tier talents in all fields.
They are also the ones most willing—and proactive—in connecting with and trusting the outside world’s commands.
If the Doctor went missing, and if he managed to escape, the most likely place he’d go would undoubtedly be there.
At this moment, Bai Nian and Shi Gao had already left the pitch-black little room inside the Hidden Tunnel, weaving their way through the streets.
“It’s two in the afternoon right now. We should be able to reach that Enclave before nightfall.”
She explained.
“I thought there was only one Enclave…”
Seeing the map in Bai Nian’s hand, Shi Gao was truly surprised.
Compared to being caught and beaten when he found the Enclave, it seemed the others had done a great many things during this time.
“By the way, Shi-ge, with your ability, you shouldn’t have been caught. How did that happen?”
Bai Nian asked in confusion as they walked.
“After receiving my task, I wandered around the city and managed to get to the School. Once I reported my identity, they warmly invited me in. Who knew, the moment I stepped inside, I was immediately subdued…”
Shi Gao explained.
He hadn’t dared use his Invisibility when guns were pointed at him.
After all, his ability only hides himself; at such close range, there was no dodging a bullet.
“Did you see Sister Qian and the Team Leader?”
Bai Nian skipped past the topic and continued her questions.
Shi Gao shook his head.
Compared to the two of them, Li Qian and Zhang Kun had a harder time escaping from Zombies.
Soon, the setting sun overhead cast its orange-red glow across the city, now nothing but ruins.
“The sky here seems to get dark earlier than usual,” Bai Nian muttered.
Ahead, the Bank Tower finally appeared before them, fronted by a wide plaza.
But strangely, not a single Zombie could be seen.
Sandbags and abandoned vehicles had been stacked into a high wall at the main entrance, sealing everyone tightly inside.
Before Bai Nian and Shi Gao could even approach, a familiar figure appeared atop the wall.
“Team Leader?!”
Their faces instantly lit up with joy—they hadn’t expected Zhang Kun to have found this place ahead of them.
He didn’t shout, just smiled and waved at them.
Bai Nian and Shi Gao jogged over to the entrance at once.
“Team Leader, are these the two members who came here with you?”
The Official Leadership standing beside him immediately asked Zhang Kun.
“That’s right. Like I said before, as long as we find that Confidential Document, we can get everyone out of H City.”
He replied without turning his head.
Zhang Kun’s role was Team Leader of this Special Task Force.
“Team Leader, this is great—we finally found you!”
The two greeted him as they stepped forward.
The Official Leadership beside them seemed relieved upon hearing them call Zhang Kun ‘Team Leader’ right away.
But as soon as he saw Shi Gao covered in injuries, his worry returned.
“Shi Gao, what happened to your face?”
Zhang Kun clearly noticed as well, looking at Shi Gao’s bruised features.
“There was a little… incident.”
He explained, somewhat embarrassed.
“I’ve already blown up that place.”
Bai Nian spoke up calmly.
Zhang Kun glanced over.
“If you took care of it, I’m relieved.”
He didn’t ask further and led the two of them into the Enclave inside the Bank Tower.
But as soon as they entered, several others stepped forward.
“We need to examine your bodies to ensure you haven’t been infected by Zombies.”
One had white hair and heterochromatic eyes—looked strange at first glance; the other was covered in injuries, who knows where he might’ve been scratched by Zombies.
Their arrival immediately put most of the survivors on alert, all eyes watching them closely.
Shi Gao looked awkwardly toward Zhang Kun, while Bai Nian met everyone’s gaze with a calm expression.
“Sorry, I refuse.”
The moment she spoke, the crowd’s mood instantly erupted—accusations flying from every direction.
“I think you’re the problem!”
“Everyone who enters here has to be checked, no exceptions. That’s our rule. As outsiders, you should be even more careful to prove yourselves!”
“If your mistake puts all of us at risk, can you bear that responsibility?!”
Even the leadership looked uncomfortable at this moment.
Even if he wanted to trust their identities, there was no way he could quiet the crowd.
“This concerns everyone’s survival. Team Leader Zhang, what do you think…”
He said with some difficulty.
But Zhang Kun wasn’t even listening to him.
The moment he saw Bai Nian’s reaction, he jumped in shock.
“Calm down, don’t be rash. The fate of everyone here might depend on this entrance staying intact.”
He hurried forward to dissuade her.
He knew her ability better than anyone—facing a crowd of ordinary people, there’d be no contest.
“Then there’s no chance, because everyone in the School is dead.”
Bai Nian replied evenly.
Both Zhang Kun and the leader were shocked.
Of course they’d heard the explosion from two hours ago.
“That place was…”
He hesitated, pointing at Bai Nian, then glancing at Shi Gao for confirmation.
Shi Gao nodded without hesitation.
“Damn!”
Zhang Kun’s mouth dropped open in astonishment.
He’d thought Bai Nian could handle them, but he didn’t expect she would really kill them all.
Snap!
A crisp snap of the fingers rang out, abrupt in the noisy room.
Zhang Kun turned sharply toward Bai Nian, only to see every survivor in front of her falling asleep at that moment—collapsing to the ground.
Even the leader beside him was no exception.
“Bai Nian, are you really going to get rid of them?”
Zhang Kun asked in surprise.
“Huh?”
Bai Nian looked back at him, confused.
“Does the Team Leader see me as such a petty person?”
Zhang Kun immediately shook his head.
“This way it’s easier to get information. And there’s no way we’ll be deceived or misled.”
She explained, as if it were obvious.
Well, that’s true.
The two of them silently guarded Bai Nian as she crouched down and began Dream Probing into the leader’s mind.
A moment later, she opened her eyes in confusion. Shi Gao immediately asked, “How did it go?”
Bai Nian shook her head.
“The Doctor isn’t here. The defenses at this Enclave are the weakest— even their Inhibitors are purchased from the School.”
Zhang Kun was stunned.
“The Doctor wasn’t here to begin with? Wasn’t he supposed to be at the School?”
Suddenly, he reacted, “Oh, right, the School was blown up by you…”
“No, the Doctor disappeared. I only blew up the School after confirming he wasn’t there.”
Bai Nian explained.
“But if an old man isn’t in any of the three Survivor Enclaves, where could he possibly go?”
