“Haah… finally over.”
After counting the remaining players and announcing the victory of the Werewolf Camp, Blazing Flame leaned against the wall, rubbing her eyes, feeling utterly exhausted in both body and mind.
“What’s wrong? Why the sighing here?”
Sapphire quietly approached Blazing Flame’s side, waving her hand and asking.
“Nothing. I was just the judge for their game. They finally finished this round.” Blazing Flame exhaled wearily. “Reciting lines all the time, watching the speaking time… it’s really exhausting.”
“That’s not surprising. Being the judge in an offline game is definitely tiring.” Sapphire glanced at the people nearby engaged in an intense post-match debrief and smiled. “By the way, who won just now?”
“The Werewolves. Their team setup was strong; they played really well,” Blazing Flame replied.
“The Werewolves won… looks like that guy’s plan might actually work.”
Hearing Blazing Flame’s answer, Sapphire lowered her head and muttered quietly.
“What? What are you talking about?” Blazing Flame asked in confusion.
“No, I didn’t say anything,” Sapphire shook her head. “By the way, Meteor will be here soon. Remember to prepare yourself mentally; that girl has been wanting to meet you for a while.”
“Uh… got it.”
Blazing Flame nodded somewhat puzzled, not understanding why Sapphire specifically told her this.
“Also, Blazing Flame. I have something to tell you. About this missing persons case, the truth might be even more…”
“Dear Contract Holder! I’m back!”
Just as Sapphire was about to reveal the secret she found in the Notebook, a cat-like little beast suddenly jumped out of the Magic Staff and excitedly did a backflip in front of Sapphire, grabbing her attention.
Sapphire stared at the Dice that interrupted her train of thought and was silent for a few seconds.
Then she raised her Magic Staff high and tapped the little creature on the head.
“Ow! Ow! Ow! That hurts!” Dice rolled in the air, holding its head. “That’s too much! I didn’t do anything! Why treat me like this?”
“Didn’t I tell you to bring Meteor over? Why did you come back alone?” Sapphire said irritably. “Where’s Meteor?”
“She’s here.” Dice pointed aggrievedly toward the exit of the hall.
“Is that so…”
Sapphire looked toward the hall’s exit and saw Meteor floating midair, flying around this abandoned warehouse, observing the place.
“Meteor, over here.”
“Coming, coming!”
Hearing Sapphire’s voice, Meteor immediately turned her gaze and sped toward her.
Meanwhile, Blazing Flame watched Meteor flying toward her curiously, sizing her up from head to toe and entering into deep thought.
Hmm…
Meteor’s figure was indeed outstanding, worthy of a top-tier rating from every angle.
No wonder that Xu Wenxing guy likes Meteor—it’s only natural.
That’s good; at least she doesn’t have to worry about some brotherly “fun” happening to herself.
After giving Meteor a reasonable evaluation in her mind, Blazing Flame looked down at her own flat chest and felt a lot more relieved.
“Ah? You’re Blazing Flame?! Blazing Flame is here too? Really?”
Once she reached Sapphire’s side, Meteor sharply noticed the red-haired girl standing there and immediately became excited.
Blazing Flame paused for a few seconds after hearing Meteor’s exclamation, then nodded toward her and replied.
“Hello, Miss Meteor?”
“Yeah! Hello! Blazing Flame! I’ve been looking for you five times already! Finally meeting you today!”
Meteor excitedly stretched out her hand toward Blazing Flame, actively greeting her.
Hearing Meteor’s voice, Blazing Flame hesitated for a moment but chose to shake her hand to show friendliness.
“Your hand is so small! Are you a middle schooler? Or a high schooler? I can teach you English!” Meteor said cheerfully.
… Actually, I’m a college student.
Though she wanted to say that, Blazing Flame rationally remained silent, not revealing her true situation.
Her case was special enough that telling the truth might scare others.
“Huh? Why aren’t you saying anything? Could it be you’re actually an elementary schooler?!” Meteor pressed on.
“…Meteor, don’t ask such personal questions right away, it might scare people,” Sapphire couldn’t stand Meteor’s overly familiar personality and spoke up to defend Blazing Flame.
“Eh, is that so? Well then, I’ll ask something else.”
Meteor reluctantly let go of Blazing Flame’s hand and looked up, pondering what interesting question to ask next.
Blazing Flame quietly took a few steps back, then spoke to change the subject, planning to make an escape.
“…Miss Sapphire, since those missing people have been found, I’ll be going now?”
“Wait, there’s something I need to explain to you first.” Sapphire glanced at Meteor and asked, “Meteor, could you please remove the timed bombs inside these people?”
“Timed bombs? They have that inside them? Let me see…”
At Sapphire’s request, Meteor’s eyes suddenly turned into golden stars, curious as she looked at the twelve ordinary citizens in the hall.
She then raised her right hand high and snapped her fingers twice.
The next second, tiny round metal pieces suddenly shot out from the arms or thighs of these citizens and gathered in front of Meteor, slowly floating in midair.
“This is…?” Blazing Flame stared in amazement at the incredible sight.
“Meteor can directly perceive heat sources inside living bodies. You can understand it as a form of X-ray vision,” Sapphire explained from the side.
“…Such an amazing ability,” Blazing Flame marveled.
Whether it was Sapphire or Meteor, they seemed much stronger than herself.
Sapphire could fire a devastating Magic Cannon, and Meteor had this almost cheating-like X-ray power.
But besides having greater strength and speed than other Magical Girls, Blazing Flame didn’t have any other special abilities.
Could this be the price she pays for being a rogue Magical Girl—having no unique power of her own?
“Hey! Sapphire! Don’t just reveal my abilities so casually!” Meteor complained with some dissatisfaction. “Do you know how priceless my information is?”
“Is that so? Then who was it that said they wanted to show off in front of Blazing Flame before? Could it be another city’s Magical Girl?” Sapphire countered calmly.
“N-no, it’s definitely not me! Absolutely not!”
Meteor quickly defended herself, then turned to Blazing Flame and forcibly shifted the topic.
“Miss Blazing Flame! Although it’s a bit late to say this, I want to congratulate you on becoming the third Magical Girl of A City!”
“With this, the power guarding A City grows even stronger!”
