“I’m not your brother-in-law. I’m here to treat your illness.”
Ian smiled at Lilith on the bed.
“Treat my illness? Sister, did you find someone to look at me again?”
Lilith looked at Lilian with some surprise, her eyes filled with a touch of self-reproach.
As if seeing through Lilith’s thoughts, Ian spoke up.
“Rest assured. If I don’t cure your illness, I won’t charge you a copper.”
It was a joke, of course.
His life was still in Lilian’s hands; how could he possibly dare to charge a fee?
Hearing this, Lilith’s expression recovered slightly, but she still didn’t place much hope in Ian.
After all, so many people had come to treat her before.
There was even a time when her sister had been absolutely certain someone could cure her, but they had still failed.
Looking at Ian’s youthful appearance, Lilith shook her head inwardly.
‘How can someone so young treat a disease?’
Even in this world of Magic, the ability to treat illness was mostly related to age.
The older someone was, the stronger the Healing Magic Skills they learned, the more rare diseases they had treated, and the more abundant their experience became.
“Even if he can’t cure you, I will find others to see you,” Lilian said, looking at Lilith with a gentle expression.
“Don’t worry, I’m 90% sure I can cure your sister.”
In truth, Ian was 100% certain he could do it, but to avoid sounding too arrogant, he only claimed to be 90% sure.
“Then how are you going to treat my illness?”
Lilith tilted her head and asked Ian.
She had already tried countless methods before, such as using Healing Magic Skills, taking medicine, and even religion.
They claimed a great Deity was watching over her, and as long as she held reverence for the Deity in her heart, the Deity would bestow grace and eliminate her sickness.
Lilith didn’t believe in the existence of any Deity in this world.
If such a being existed, how could they stand by and watch so many tragedies occur?
If there were gods, they were just a group of people with powerful Magic, nothing more.
“Take this medicine.”
Ian pulled a bottle of Green Potion from the satchel at his waist.
“Drinking this might feel a bit uncomfortable. If you can endure it, your illness will be cured.”
Recalling the uncomfortable sensation he felt after drinking the potion he had brewed, Ian wasn’t sure if the girl before him could persevere.
‘If she can’t handle it and faints, will Lilian kill me?’
Ian thought, feeling a bit afraid.
“Drinking this single bottle of potion can cure my illness?”
Lilith asked dubiously.
“That’s right.”
Although he felt a bit fearful, as long as he explained everything clearly, it should be fine, right?
After speaking, Ian went to hand the potion to Lilith.
“Wait, let me see the potion first.”
Lilian spoke up and took the potion from Ian’s hand.
She sniffed it carefully and then used Mana Perception to investigate.
After confirming it wasn’t poisonous, Lilian handed the potion to Lilith.
“Drink it. Your illness will get better after you drink this.”
Although Lilian was also unsure whether Ian could really cure Lilith, she didn’t want to extinguish the hope in Lilith’s heart.
Watching Lilian’s distrustful actions, Ian couldn’t help but complain internally.
‘She really doesn’t have a shred of trust in me!’
One couldn’t blame Lilian for being cautious, however.
Lilith was her only living relative, so she naturally had to protect her.
Taking the potion from Lilian, Lilith raised the bottle and drained it in one gulp.
Ian and Lilian could only wait anxiously by the side to see the changes in Lilith.
Immediately after drinking the potion, there was no reaction from her body, nor any sign of being cured.
“Sister, I’m afraid there’s no effect this time either—”
However, just as she finished speaking, the pain radiating from her body caused Lilith immense suffering.
“Ah! Argh!”
The pain in her body was a necessary path to strengthening her constitution; even Ian couldn’t avoid this.
“Just what is in that potion?”
Seeing her sister in agonizing pain, Lilian turned and looked at Ian angrily.
“Didn’t I just say? It feels a bit painful at first after drinking the potion. As long as she can get through it, her illness will be cured.”
Hearing Ian’s explanation, Lilian could only suppress the anger in her heart and wait anxiously as time passed.
“If anything happens to my sister, I won’t let you off.”
Lilian didn’t waste any more words on Ian.
Instead, she walked to the bed and grabbed Lilith’s hand, attempting to share some of her sister’s pain.
After about 15 minutes, Lilith’s form gradually stabilized.
This meant she had completely absorbed the effects of the medicinal liquid.
Next would be the moment she transformed into a member of the Demon Race.
Ian wondered if Lilith would accept her identity as a demon.
From Lilith’s earlier behavior, she didn’t seem to know that her sister was a demon.
As time passed, Lilith’s body, which had stabilized on the bed, underwent another change.
Two horns grew from her head, and a long tail sprouted from her backside.
Looking at the scene before him, Ian was stunned.
He knew all too well which category of the Demon Race those features belonged to.
‘Isn’t this a Succubus?’
If that was the case, was Lilian a Succubus too?
But he hadn’t seen Lilian display any Succubus traits.
He turned to look at Lilian.
At this moment, Lilian’s expression was agitated; she was likely happy about Lilith’s transformation.
‘Could it be that Lilian and Lilith are different kinds of demons?’
Recalling how he had been captivated by the fragrance on Lilian’s body before entering the room, Ian suddenly realized the truth.
Lilian must have been disguising her features.
Since she had to operate within the Human Territory, she couldn’t just let a Succubus tail flutter about in the open.
“Sis… Sister, what’s happening to me?”
Having just woken up from the potion’s effects, Lilith was still a bit confused.
But she felt it—the pain that had been torturing her seemed to have disappeared!
Furthermore, she could actually sit up.
One had to know that she had previously been so tormented by pain that she could only lie down, unable to even sit.
“Sister, my illness is really cured!”
Lilith was incredibly excited.
However, after the initial excitement, she noticed something wasn’t quite right.
“Huh? What are these?”
“Why did I grow horns and a tail?”
Sensing the source of the abnormality, Lilith grew pale with shock.
Seeing that Lilith could sit up perfectly fine, Lilian stepped forward and gave her a big hug.
“Lilith, your illness is finally gone.”
“Sister, can you explain this to me? I’m a bit confused about the situation.”
Hearing Lilith’s question, Lilian released her embrace and began to explain.
“So that’s how it is. Sister, you’ve become a demon?”
After learning the sequence of events, Lilith’s mood was unexpectedly calm.
“Don’t you resent me for not telling you about this beforehand?”
“Not at all. As long as my illness is cured and I can help you, Sister, I don’t care even if I’ve become a demon.”
Lilith gave a sweet smile, looking as if she were about to melt Lilian’s heart.
