The two reached the bottom and found a massive dragon skeleton hidden there, with a plain knight’s sword embedded in its skull.
“Is this Grandpa—” Jukkido Simon began to ask.
“I killed your grandfather; it would be impossible for a complete skeleton to remain,” the Dragon Mother interrupted. “This isn’t the remains of a Red Dragon.”
“Fine,” Jukkido Simon said helplessly. “Then what kind of dragon is this? And what is that sword?”
“This is an Ancient Evil Dragon. Unlike us Red Dragons, it was an Ancient Dragon that mastered Dragonflame to the absolute limit. The Jet-black Dragon Flame it spat could burn every substance in the world,” the Dragon Mother explained.
“An Evil Dragon? How come I’ve never heard of it?” Jukkido Simon scratched her head, puzzled.
“Even our sturdy Dragon Scales would be corroded and shattered before those black flames. Our massive size as Ancient Dragons actually became a fatal weakness in front of it. For that reason, our kind practiced Humanoid Transformation rigorously to shrink our bodies and dodge the Dragon Breath. This influence has lasted for thousands of years.”
The Dragon Mother continued her explanation, “It was because the one who eventually defeated the Evil Dragon wasn’t one of us, but a completely ordinary Adventurer.”
“Was this sword left behind by that Adventurer?” Jukkido Simon asked.
“Exactly. This is a Dragon Slayer Sword,” the Dragon Mother said. “If what you said is correct, the Black Dragon you birthed is very similar to the legendary Evil Dragon. This is likely the guidance of fate, a sign of the Evil Dragon’s resurrection.”
“Fate… Evil Dragon… resurrection?” Jukkido Simon was dazed by the information.
The Dragon Mother’s speech was quite the performance, successfully baffling her daughter.
Although she was making all of this up on the spot, the scariest part was that she believed her own stories, so it did not feel like lying.
“When your daughter arrives, you will have a use for it,” the Dragon Mother said.
“Is that really necessary? I don’t believe my fists can’t beat her.” Jukkido Simon was quite dismissive of the sword.
As a Red Dragon, she never felt the need for external weapons; those were things used by the weak Human Race.
“Better safe than sorry.” The Dragon Mother pulled the Dragon Slayer Sword from the head of the Evil Dragon, and the entire skeleton collapsed immediately after.
She walked over to Jukkido Simon and handed the Dragon Slayer Sword to her daughter.
Simon looked at it with disdain but eventually reached out to take it.
However, the moment she gripped the sword, she realized it was anything but ordinary.
It was incredibly heavy, enough to make even a Red Dragon feel the weight in her hand.
It looked like a plain knight’s sword with no special characteristics. The pommel and the blade were both very standard.
Yet, it was precisely because it was so ordinary that it became extraordinary.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
As soon as Jukkido Simon held the Dragon Slayer Sword, she automatically grasped a new technique: Dragon Breath Enchantment. She funneled her Magic into the blade.
The Dragon Slayer Sword instantly ignited with crimson flames, accepting her fire with ease.
In reality, an ordinary weapon could never withstand her Dragonflame; it would burn to ash almost instantly, making continuous enchantment impossible.
But this sword could endure her Dragonflame, its durability comparable to her own physical body.
From that perspective, it was indeed worthy of being her sword.
However, thinking of the sword made Jukkido Simon suddenly think of Feini. ‘Does getting a new sword count as being unfaithful?’ She felt a strange sense of immorality.
But Feini was currently throwing a tantrum. It would be perfect to take the new sword back and annoy her, letting her know that she wasn’t indispensable.
“Thank you, Mother. I’ll bring your granddaughter back to see you off in your final days.” Jukkido Simon accepted the sword.
“Always so blunt,” the Dragon Mother sighed, having grown used to her daughter’s total lack of social grace.
The two left the underground cave and returned to the mansion.
Jukkido Simon took the Dragon Slayer Sword and went to the small room to show off to Feini, acting like a child with a new toy.
Feini, of course, ignored her. She sat in her wheelchair without moving, silently staring at Jukkido Simon to see what she was up to now.
“Look, Feini, I got a sword.” Jukkido Simon felt a bit unnerved by the stare, so she stood up and performed a few swings.
“Your swordsmanship is like a pile of crap.” Feini spoke venomously, no longer bothering to save any face.
“That Pseudo-Demon must be leading people everywhere to look for me. She’s definitely thinking about taking you back. I won’t feel comfortable until I get rid of her,” Jukkido Simon said. “Qingshamu… I’ve felt uneasy ever since the first time I met her. She really is my fated enemy.”
“If you’re so scared, why don’t you move?” Feini asked. “Do you have no brain? She will definitely find out that this is the Red Dragon Nest and come looking for you.”
“Heh, why should I run? I won’t sleep soundly until I kill my love rival. I’m just waiting for her to walk into my trap.”
Jukkido Simon found she could automatically filter out Feini’s insults and only listen to the normal parts of the conversation. It was quite magical.
“She’s bringing her daughter and your daughter. A Hero never fights alone,” Feini mocked.
“She is my daughter. My blood flows in her veins. This is the fate of our Dragon Tribe and has nothing to do with that outsider. I defeated her in Phoenix City, and I can do it a second time.”
Jukkido Simon’s smile gradually vanished. She puffed out her cheeks, suddenly angry.
After all, the fact that her love rival was raising her daughter was humiliating.
“I was the one who slashed her in Phoenix City. Without me, you’re nothing,” Feini said.
“I have a brand-new sword now! I’m not useless without you!” Jukkido Simon roared.
“You’re still so childish, Jukkido Simon. You’re just a baby who won’t grow up. You get furious over just a few words. Do you think you’re safe just because you ignore my insults? Haha,” Feini laughed.
“…” Jukkido Simon’s face turned beet red with anger. she stomped out of the room and locked the door tight.
At the same time, Feini realized why her body’s recovery speed had accelerated since arriving here.
It was because of that plain knight’s sword in Jukkido Simon’s hand.
When it was near her, she felt as if she were bathed in healing light, and her body began to repair itself rapidly.
But this wasn’t exactly good news. ‘I’m just a Trash-level Combatant; recovering doesn’t change much. Even if I recover 100%, what could I do? But with Jukkido Simon obtaining a divine weapon like that, it’s like giving wings to a tiger. She’ll be even harder to deal with.’
This meant that even if Qingshamu and her two daughters found her, it wouldn’t be easy to take her away.
