“Training Class? Do you know what that Training Class is called?”
“I don’t know, he wouldn’t say. He just said we would understand after we went there to experience it.” Xu Wenxing sighed. “He’s being so secretive, who would believe him?”
“That’s true.” Lu Ren smiled and waved to his Roommate. “Bye, have a safe trip.”
“Yeah, thanks.” Xu Wenxing nodded. “See you tomorrow.”
“See you tomorrow.”
After saying goodbye to each other, Xu Wenxing soon left the Dormitory and headed outside.
Walking on the Campus Path, Xu Wenxing pulled out his Mobile Phone, checked the location sent by his Dad, opened an app, and called a taxi to the School entrance.
Amidst the evening breeze and the noisy chatter of Students, Xu Wenxing swiped his card and left the School.
After the driver called him, Xu Wenxing walked to a small white car, opened the door, and sat in the back.
As soon as he got in, Xu Wenxing told the driver his phone number and destination, then fastened his Seat Belt.
“Master, tail number 0234, going to the Caesar Grand Hotel.”
“Sure, no problem. Sit tight, kid.”
The Master responded, clicked the confirmation button on the app, and with a step on the gas, he took Xu Wenxing away from the School grounds.
Xu Wenxing exhaled and leaned back against the seat cushion, rubbing his eyes. He planned to rest for a bit to have enough energy for showing his Dad’s friend around later.
But what felt strange to Xu Wenxing was that although the driver in the front had both hands on the steering wheel, he kept being distracted by glancing back at him.
The man’s gaze looked quite strange. It didn’t look like curiosity, nor did it look like worry.
Instead, it was more like… pity for someone about to die?
Xu Wenxing was puzzled. How could he encounter such an odd driver just by taking a taxi?
He looked at himself curiously and found nothing unusual about his appearance. Why was the man looking at him with such a strange gaze?
He considered himself healthy, energetic, and just a bit sleepy—like any normal University Student.
Why act like something was about to happen to him?
I couldn’t have boarded a Ghost Taxi and be about to have an accident, could I?
Xu Wenxing remembered the many horror novels he had read. After this thought flashed through his mind for no reason, he laughed at himself.
The driver in the front seat looked at Xu Wenxing and opened his mouth, seeming like he wanted to say something to warn him.
But in the end, he shook his head and said nothing.
It seemed the Master felt it was better to avoid trouble, lest his words upset Xu Wenxing and lead to a complaint.
Noticing the Master’s series of small movements, Xu Wenxing finally couldn’t help himself.
He cleared his throat and looked over, his voice filled with strong confusion.
“What’s wrong, Master? Is there something you want to say?”
“No, no, you’ve misunderstood. I don’t want to say anything.”
The Master quickly shook his head, indicating he knew nothing.
But seeing the man’s behavior, Xu Wenxing immediately realized the Master definitely wanted to say something but was afraid of bringing trouble upon himself.
So he spoke directly, asking in a sincere tone.
“It’s fine, Master. Just say it. I’m a freshman, not many rules. Say whatever you want to say; I’m someone who quite likes listening to gossip.”
“…What I have to say might make you unhappy. Are you sure you want to hear it?” the Master asked cautiously.
“Don’t worry. Back in high school, I was scolded mercilessly by all sorts of teachers. I’m not afraid of this kind of thing.” Xu Wenxing waved his hand, telling the Master to just speak freely.
“True. The pressure on Students nowadays is immense; it’s not much different from our work. My son in his first year of high school worries about his grades all day, which even stresses me out.”
Hearing Xu Wenxing’s words, the Master nodded in agreement.
Then, he looked at the real-time chat recording on the mobile app, silently tossed his Mobile Phone aside, and covered it with something.
Seeing the Master’s behavior, Xu Wenxing’s interest was immediately piqued. He realized the driver was about to give him some serious news.
Was it the usual middle-aged gathering talk of the world’s Hero, or some weird rumor or hearsay?
Whatever! Hearing it is a win! He was most interested in these twisty, mysterious little stories.
Xu Wenxing rubbed his hands, feeling energized as he waited for the Master to speak.
The Master did not disappoint him. His first words made Xu Wenxing’s back go cold.
“I say, you’re a University Student with a bright future. Why are you going to a place for dead people?”
A… place for dead people?
Is he talking about the Caesar Grand Hotel?
Xu Wenxing was shocked. He hadn’t expected the Master to drop such a bombshell right away.
He steadied himself and quickly asked the Master.
“Are you talking about the Caesar Grand Hotel? What’s wrong with that place? I’ve never heard anything about it.”
“Sigh, you’re not a local of City A, are you? To think you haven’t even heard of that place’s reputation.” The Master sighed and said mysteriously, “Of the people who stay in that hotel, eighty or ninety percent end up going mad!”
“…Uh, we live in a scientific age now. You need evidence for saying things like that.” Xu Wenxing coughed dryly, deliberately using a provocation tactic to see what other big news the Master could reveal.
Seeing Xu Wenxing like this, the Master slapped his thigh and said loudly.
“Why would I lie to you! You have no idea; that ghost of a place, the Caesar Grand Hotel, is incredibly sinister! I’ve driven several customers there, and they all ended up having something happen to them. Afterward, the platform even held me accountable. It pissed me off!”
“Something happened?” Xu Wenxing frowned, puzzled.
“Yeah! A few years ago, wasn’t there an entrepreneur in City A? After he stayed at the Caesar Grand Hotel, it wasn’t long before he went mad. He only got better after going to the hospital.”
“…For real?”
Xu Wenxing gasped, not expecting to hear such explosive news.
Seeing the customer’s reaction, the Master became extremely proud and continued.
“Of course it’s real. The impact was too great back then, so it was suppressed. You won’t find it on the internet now; you can only learn about it from those of us who experienced the Event at the time.”
“This… are there any other examples?”
After pondering for a few seconds, Xu Wenxing asked the Master again.
It wasn’t that he didn’t believe it, but the credibility of a single example was just too low.
He wanted to hear if there were any other examples.
The Master nodded readily and said.
“Yes, of course. The most recent one who went mad over there actually came from your School.”
“From our School?” Xu Wenxing was stunned.
“Yeah, a junior, apparently with a ton of certificates. Really impressive.” The Master sighed.
“What a pity. He just had to go to that ghost place to meet someone. After returning to the School all dazed and confused, he fell into a deep coma and never woke up.”
“This…”
