“How is that possible? No one would be unhappy about being able to successfully resolve such a big trouble,” Blazing Flame shook her head and replied immediately.
“Then why are you making that face? You can’t tell me your Emotion System is having problems,” Pandora said, puzzled.
“How could that be… I’m just thinking about a very important question.”
Blazing Flame fell silent for a few seconds before telling Pandora the reason she had fallen into thought.
Pandora swallowed all of the black liquid, tilted her head at Blazing Flame, and continued to press.
“A question?”
“Yes,” Blazing Flame nodded. “After Sapphire fell into an Emotion Outburst, I could still rely on my own strength to stop her. But if one day I enter an Emotion Outburst state, who will be there to stop me?”
“Oh, so you were thinking about that. I thought you were pondering some life philosophy.”
Upon hearing Blazing Flame’s thoughts, Pandora replied nonchalantly, her words completely devoid of any worry.
Blazing Flame raised her eyebrows, not understanding why Pandora was so at ease regarding her, so she asked strangely.
“Aren’t you afraid that one day I might also lose my mind and suddenly enter an Emotion Outburst state? Although it’s a low-probability Event, there’s always a possibility it could happen, right?”
“Of course I’m not afraid,” Pandora said with a beaming smile. “Because that is an impossible Event.”
“……An impossible Event?”
Blazing Flame’s brow furrowed, and the doubt in her heart instantly intensified.
Why was Pandora so certain and confident that she wouldn’t fall into an Emotion Outburst?
Did she know something?
“Of course. I can say very certainly that you will absolutely never fall into an Emotion Outburst,” Pandora replied in a relaxed tone. “You’re different from the other Magic Girls. You’re special, Blazing Flame.”
“……And the reason?” Blazing Flame pressed.
“Sorry, I can’t explain the specific reason to you; it involves many secrets behind the scenes. This isn’t something you should know at this stage. But please believe me, I won’t lie to you.”
“……I really want to give you a hard beating right now, Pandora.”
Looking at Pandora’s attitude of clearly knowing something but not saying it, Blazing Flame felt her fists tighten.
If Pandora provoked her one more time, she would grab Pandora’s tail without hesitation and let her go only after making her perform a hundred meows.
“No, no way! We’re comrades! We can’t have an internal war!” Pandora said urgently.
“Even the bond of comradeship won’t save you! Speak! Why is there no risk of me entering an Emotion Outburst!”
“I already said it’s a secret! I’ll naturally tell you when the time comes! Stop asking!”
……
The next day, morning.
After the struggle and effort of last night, the Nightmare Shadow Beast Incident was successfully resolved.
In just half a day, the three hundred and twenty-seven missing guns were found along with their magazines.
Aside from a few firearms that had accidentally discharged, no other guns showed a decrease in ammunition.
After being tested, the Official Personnel and the Crowd who were controlled by the Nightmare Monster were confirmed to have no lingering side effects; the entire group was safe and sound.
Looking at the near-perfect post-Event report in his hand, Xu Panfeng, who was sitting by the Bed, let out a long sigh of relief, the pressure in his heart suddenly lightening by a lot.
Honestly, Ar City was constantly being attacked by all sorts of monsters and demons; he was almost scared into a heart condition.
Fortunately, the three Magic Girls of their city were exceptionally talented, finding a perfect world line even when facing such a predicament and nipping the danger in the bud.
Otherwise, who knows how many people would have died.
His dereliction of duty would be a small matter, but the loss of life would be a grave one.
“Ugh……”
Just as Xu Panfeng was feeling emotional, a faint sound of breathing came from the Bed next to him.
He put down the report in his hand and waved to the black-haired girl who had been protecting Ar City.
“You’re awake? How does your body feel?”
“……Where is this?”
The black-haired girl lying on the Bed looked at Director Xu beside her, silent for a few seconds before asking.
“Where else could it be? The hospital,” Xu Panfeng said, feigning a relaxed tone.
“When Meteor found you at the scene, you were in a coma, and your bodily functions had suffered a certain amount of damage. However, after a night of treatment, you’ve recovered to normal levels.”
“……I see.”
Sapphire nodded upon hearing this and struggled to climb out of Bed, but she was forced to give up as waves of sharp pain surged through her body.
“Don’t be reckless. If you’re injured, recuperate properly in the hospital.”
Xu Panfeng was startled by Sapphire.
“The Doctor said you need at least three days to recover. During this time, you have to stay in Bed and rest.”
“Three days…… then what about the matter of finding the guns?!” Sapphire bit her lip and pressed Xu Panfeng.
It was clear she was truly worried that the Nightmare Monster issue hadn’t been properly handled.
“You can rest one hundred percent easy about that. Everything has been successfully resolved. All you need to do next is rest well in the hospital. See for yourself.”
Xu Panfeng smiled and handed the post-Event report to Sapphire.
Sapphire glared at Xu Panfeng, then gritted her teeth, enduring the pain as she forcefully reached out her hand to look at this precious post-Event report.
The private hospital room instantly fell into silence.
A few minutes later, after finishing the report, Sapphire stared blankly out the window, falling into silence.
After a long while, she handed the report back to Xu Panfeng and said to him,
“Remember to say thank you to Blazing Flame for me. Also, give all of my bonus to her.”
“I already told you, don’t worry about the bonus. I even wanted to give her a separate extra bonus yesterday. But she didn’t want anything. The only fifty thousand she took was because I forced it on her,” Xu Panfeng laughed.
“If it weren’t for Blazing Flame, you might not be seeing me anymore, Director Xu,” Sapphire said after a few seconds of silence, revealing a bombshell.
“……What are you saying?! You must be joking!” Xu Panfeng said in surprise.
“I’m not joking.” Sapphire slowly shook her head. “This Event can be said to be entirely thanks to Blazing Flame’s efforts. Meteor and I did nothing.”
“This…… what exactly did you encounter back then? How could such a serious accident almost happen?” Xu Panfeng pressed.
“Don’t ask about that. Leave some privacy for me and Meteor.” A rare, faint smile appeared on Sapphire’s face.
“By the way, Director Xu, you didn’t tell my Parents about my hospitalization, did you? I don’t want to see them right now.”
“Of course. This old man can still handle a small matter like that. Don’t worry,” Xu Panfeng replied. “Just rest well for now. Someone will come to pick you up when you’re discharged.”
“Yeah, I understand.”
Sapphire nodded, her eyes still fixed on the window.
She recalled the scene before she fell into the Emotion Outburst and thought of the post-Event report she had just seen, her heart feeling extremely peaceful.
It wasn’t easy.
With an outstanding Magic Girl like Blazing Flame…
From now on, Ar City should get better and better.
