“I didn’t expect my friend, the Elder, to still remember me,” Muxuan said with a half-smile as he watched the smiling Goblin Elder approach him.
“Of course. How could I ever forget Your distinguished Holiness?”
“Then why was the entrance blocked?”
The smile on the Goblin Elder’s face froze. His lips twitched awkwardly as he quickly replied, “We don’t possess strength as great as yours, Your Holiness. We had to block it to prevent The Strange from entering.”
Hearing the Goblin Elder’s flimsy excuse, Muxuan didn’t give him any face and continued to press him. “But I seem to remember you saying, Elder, that your King protects this place and that The Strange couldn’t possibly enter?”
He had to put pressure on these goblins to keep the initiative in his own hands. Otherwise, these creatures would always find various excuses to stall him.
Cunning, ruthless, slippery… these were the standard evaluations of goblins. In short, their reputation was far from good.
The Goblin Elder could no longer maintain his smile, and his expression turned solemn.
“Your Holiness, what exactly do you mean by this?”
He knew that Muxuan had not come with good intentions this time.
Although he didn’t know the Church’s current specific situation, judging by the commotion just now, it was highly likely that Muxuan had sent the Church’s top combat power.
His gaze shifted past Muxuan to land on Luseqi, his eyes filled with wariness.
“What do I mean? You know very well, don’t you, Elder?”
Muxuan didn’t state his direct purpose. Instead, he narrowed his eyes and looked at the Goblin Elder with a dangerous gaze.
“Uh…”
Feeling the faint pressure radiating from Muxuan, the Goblin Elder’s throat bobbed. He subconsciously wiped the cold sweat beads from his forehead.
‘This Pope is playing for keeps this time… His aura is on a completely different level compared to the last time!’
“Your Holiness… They are unwilling to leave. Why must you do this?”
“Unwilling to leave? Heh… Then could I trouble the Elder to lead the way so we can check on their status?”
Muxuan’s expression had already darkened.
His words were clear enough; there was only a thin veil of civility left between them. The Goblin Elder was a smart person, and Muxuan didn’t believe for a second that the creature couldn’t understand his meaning.
Luseqi just watched quietly from the side, remaining silent. However, his eyes moved constantly, recording the layout of the area into his mind.
He also carried the task of protecting His Holiness on this trip, so he couldn’t afford to relax.
“Sigh… Your Holiness, if you insist on seeing them… then follow me.”
Seeing Muxuan’s forceful attitude and feeling the ever-increasing pressure, the Goblin Elder sighed helplessly and conceded.
The Elder’s words took Muxuan by surprise for a moment.
Watching the Goblin Elder turn and walk toward the palace, Muxuan quickly recovered and followed him.
He had originally thought the Elder would continue to change the subject to buy time. He hadn’t expected him to be so straightforward.
However, as Muxuan watched the Elder’s back, he felt that something was off.
“Elder, didn’t you say last time that this palace couldn’t be entered? Didn’t you say anyone who enters turns into white bone?”
As they drew closer to the palace, the unease in Muxuan’s heart grew stronger.
“Of course! And that is exactly why I’m taking you inside!”
As soon as he finished speaking, the Goblin Elder’s body underwent an extremely eerie distortion. Several sharp spikes erupted from the inside out, turning the Elder into something resembling a hedgehog.
Green blood dripped down the spikes, and several black tentacles instantly surged from the ground, lashing out at Muxuan and Luseqi.
“This trick again!”
Muxuan’s mood soured instantly as he stared at the tentacles that Luseqi had crushed with his shepherd’s staff in a flash.
If this guy weren’t already dead, Muxuan would have loved to kill him two more times.
Meanwhile, the goblins patrolling nearby noticed the change in the Elder, and the scene instantly devolved into chaos.
Many goblins dropped their weapons and began frantically clawing at the ground with their hands, attempting to bury themselves in pits.
There wasn’t a single human among the panicked goblins. The humans who had been here last time had already been taken somewhere unknown by the goblins.
Muxuan and Luseqi exchanged a glance. In the next second, Luseqi’s figure vanished, kicking up a gust of strong wind.
When he reappeared, he was holding a goblin by its neck in front of Muxuan.
“The other goblins can only squeak and gibber. There are only a few who can speak, and this is the only one left alive. Their mutations seemed to happen simultaneously, and most of the speaking goblins are dead…”
Luseqi frowned as he quickly summarized the situation for Muxuan.
“Ask it whatever you want.”
Muxuan nodded and looked at the trembling goblin dangling from Luseqi’s hand. After a moment of thought, he asked, “What happened here?”
“The King is awake!!! Something disturbed the King!!!”
“The King wasn’t supposed to wake up yet!!!”
‘The King is awake?’
Muxuan immediately thought of Qiansitelin.
Qiansitelin had gone to the back mountain. It was highly likely she had already made contact with the horror the goblins called their King.
In that case… was it because of Qiansitelin?
“Your Holiness, do we proceed… or…?”
Luseqi knew they wouldn’t get much more out of the creature. He tossed the goblin aside and waited for Muxuan to make a decision.
“Deep into the palace! Tell Mosen to get ready!”
“As you command, Your Holiness.”
Luseqi smiled upon hearing Muxuan’s words.
One had to be bold to reap rewards!
The bigger the storm, the more expensive the fish!
Taking a stone from his robe, Luseqi crushed it, and both he and Muxuan immediately took a step back.
On the surface, after receiving the signal from Luseqi, Mosen quickly completed the final corner of a magic array.
With the materials in place, Mosen thrust his staff into the very center of the array. He gripped the staff with one hand, his lips moving rapidly in a chant.
He couldn’t manage instantaneous casting for this level of magic, but he could compress it into three seconds!
As the chanting stopped, the ground within the range of the magic array began to vibrate violently.
The destructive power of a Tier Three spell could easily level half a city, and the power of this Tier Three array would only be more staggering.
Feeling his empty mana reserves and his magic circuits which were on the verge of stalling, Mosen had no intention of resting.
The moment the light on the staff faded, he pulled it up and turned to run.
The destructive power of this Tier Three array would almost certainly catch him in the blast. Mosen was no fool. After being caught in his own Tier Three array once before, he made sure to run as far as possible every time he cast one.
If running wasn’t an option, he would layer more than ten shields over himself before even drawing the array.
If there was still a chance of being heavily injured, he would even pull out magic artifacts for protection. His primary trait was an extreme fear of death.
