“Miss Fini, your new badges have been engraved.” The Receptionist walked to the mission board and called out to Feini and the others.
This made the other Adventurers quite envious, since the association staff were usually as cold as ice—if you didn’t go and urge them, they simply wouldn’t move.
But now the Receptionist was actually coming out herself to deliver things?
It was clear that the Adventurers’ Association of Kingdom of Huanxu attached great importance to these mysterious young women.
“Thank you.” Feini took the bag, inside which there were seven little black boxes, all made quite exquisitely.
She brought Xueyuedai and Qingshamu to the lounge to find the other companions, and everyone sat together drinking milk tea, just like ordinary high school girls.
“Everyone’s Adventurer badge has arrived.” Feini took out the black boxes one by one from the bag.
Opening them, inside each lay a glittering gold badge with the Adventurer’s name engraved upon it.
Beneath the name was a tiny line for the team name, where originally the guild’s name would have been inscribed.
“Yours, yours, this is yours, keep it safe.” She distributed the boxes with their badges to each person in turn.
Everyone eagerly opened their box, gazing at the small metal plate with their name etched into it.
For the beast girls, things that couldn’t be eaten were usually considered useless, yet for some reason they’d become infatuated with these little tags.
They had not only learned about the bonds between teammates, but also grasped the meaning of team honor.
Seven people, one heart—as if as long as the seven of them stood united, nothing in this world could defeat them.
No wonder the Human Race liked forming small teams so much; this feeling was truly wonderful.
Between magical beasts and beasts of different kinds, close friendship was nearly impossible; even among the same kind, unity was not always guaranteed.
“We ranked up.”
“Something’s off,”
The Adventurers observing them from the shadows realized they’d gone straight from Bronze Adventurer to Gold Adventurer, skipping two ranks in a row.
That was against the rules; Adventurer ranks were supposed to increase step by step.
Of course, there was no shortage of backroom deals in the Adventurers’ Association.
Everyone was used to it by now—turning a blind eye to injustice, secretly grinding their teeth in frustration, but powerless to do anything.
“Slurp, slurp, slurp~ Let’s go back to the inn.”
Feini finished her milk tea, waved her hand, and everyone got up together.
The Lost Beast squad swaggered out of the Adventurers’ Association and returned to the mid-range inn.
They also checked out of one room, because Kenshamu preferred squeezing in a double room with Feini and White Feather Dove.
This made Xueyuedai so envious that she could hardly stand it, so she found an excuse to go over and check the room: “Simon, let’s go talk to Feini about the future plans for the team.”
“Good idea, I also want to chat with Feini and Shamu.” Shijietang nodded in agreement.
The two of them immediately went next door and knocked on the door.
Inside, Feini and the others were startled, especially Kenshamu, who immediately snapped out of her meditation and returned to normal.
“Who is it?” Feini pressed her ear to the door and asked.
“It’s me, there’s something not convenient to say outside. I want to discuss our next plans.” Shijietang’s voice came through.
Feini opened the door and let them in.
Shijietang and Xueyuedai entered the room and were surprised to see the three girls all dressed in pajamas.
They didn’t have such habits themselves—they still wore their Magician robes, truly not understanding how to enjoy life.
“Girls, go change into your pajamas and come over, let’s have a Women’s Pajama Party.” Feini smiled.
“Okay.” Shijietang obediently agreed, taking Xueyuedai back to change into pajamas and slippers before coming over again.
Feini also brought over a low table, and everyone sat together drinking juice and nibbling on little cookies.
“Now that we’ve got our Adventurer badges engraved with our names, it means we have a legal identity among the Human Race, and I can go anywhere in the United Kingdom. This time, we’ve more than completed our assignment.” Feini explained.
“Are you saying we can go home now?” Shijietang asked.
“We can all receive the Great Witch’s Reward if we go back.” Feini poured a cup of juice for Shijietang, smiling broadly,
“But that depends on your opinion, Captain. If you want to go back, we’ll go. If not, we can stay here for a while longer.”
“What else can we do if we stay here?” Shijietang pressed.
“There’s so much left to do! We haven’t even eaten at all the unique restaurants here. These shops are nothing like our Gourmet Street, where everything tastes the same. Here you get to try all kinds of incredible authentic cooking.”
Feini enthused.
“And we haven’t tried every bathhouse here either, or experienced all the unusual entertainment facilities.”
“Then let’s stay for a while longer.” Shijietang was so tempted, her eyes lit up.
Ever since Feini awakened her Deliberation Power, she was able to grasp Shijietang more and more easily.
Shijietang had long since become a Puppet Captain, played by Feini as she pleased—now Feini was the real decision-maker.
That was because Feini thoroughly understood Shijietang’s motives: this silly Demon King had come to God and Demon Academy just to experience the daily life of a high school girl, so Feini made sure to give her that youthful, fashionable lifestyle.
It seemed that Feini’s powers as a transmigrator were gradually awakening. No longer as passive as before, she was steadily learning how to survive in this chaotic world.
Flattery, push and pull, hugging big thighs, finding a green escort—these were the Survival Laws Feini had managed to grasp in a short time.
“……” Qingshamu felt increasingly uneasy watching Feini become so clever.
Because Feini’s Undercover Ability was far superior to her own—she’d gotten nowhere as a spy after all this time, while Feini had made more progress in one day than she had in ages.
Kingdom of Huanxu, as the bridgehead of the Chaos Mountains, held immense strategic value. Now, the Demonkind had already investigated everything here.
But what could she do about it? Nothing at all—she couldn’t just say, “Let’s stop investigating and go home.”
“Let’s sleep early and get up early tomorrow.” Feini said.
“Then we won’t bother you any longer.” Shijietang rose to say goodbye.
Xueyuedai got up, albeit reluctantly, and the two of them returned to their room to sleep.
After they left…
Qingshamu finally took off her mask, her face full of melancholy.
“Feini, there’s something I’ve wanted to ask you for a long time.”
She couldn’t hold it in any longer, finally laying her cards on the table.
“You are Demonkind, I am Human Race—we’re on opposite sides, and cannot truly work together. But I don’t want to become your enemy. I want to know: what do you think of God and Demon Academy and the Human Race? Will you help them plot against us?”
“I have no opinions on the Human Race or Demonkind. My goal is to raise my daughter. As long as White Feather Dove is threatened, I don’t care if you’re human, demon, or god—I’ll kill you all without mercy.”
Feini had expected the Hero to reach her breaking point, and she’d already decided how to answer.
