Until Senior Lei La’s figure disappeared at the end of the hallway, Sevitis turned to look at Su Ling beside her.
“So, what was really going on with you just now?”
The way that dumb ox had acted downstairs was way too反常.
The old woman’s thuggish attitude—at first glance, it seemed like something her carefree personality would get along with perfectly.
Yet Su Ling hadn’t said a single unnecessary word the whole time.
It wasn’t until they stood at the dormitory door that the dumb ox finally reverted back to her usual devil-may-care self.
“I don’t know either…” Su Ling patted her chest, explaining with a lingering fear. “Just facing that dorm matron, I felt this inexplicable pressure. Even breathing was hard.”
“Is that so…”
Sevitis pondered. It seemed that unkempt dorm matron was indeed not as simple as she appeared on the surface.
“I guess even an idiot’s intuition can be pretty sharp.”
“Hey! What do you mean by that!”
“Oh? Did I say that out loud? You must have misheard.”
“You obviously said it!”
Casually brushing off Su Ling’s protest, Sevitis took out the door card she had just received.
After confirming the number on the door was “402,” she pressed it against the sensor pad above the door handle.
With a soft beep, the lock clicked open.
“Wow! That’s amazing! Just swiping the card opens the door!” Su Ling exclaimed.
Sevitis sneered inwardly.
‘So much fuss over nothing.’
Although she admitted that Contar Academy’s magic technology was indeed quite advanced, she was still the heir of the Adams family.
She wasn’t about to act like some country bumpkin who had never seen the world.
Sevitis pushed the door open and stepped forward to enter.
“So fun! Let me try too!” Before she could walk in, Su Ling slammed the door shut, excitedly pulled out her own door card, and pressed it up.
Beep!
The dorm door unlocked again. Su Ling turned around triumphantly to show off.
“Boss! Hey, Boss! Look, I opened it too!”
“Yeah, I saw it clearly—” Sevitis slowly lifted her head, the red mark on her forehead visible, her tone icy. “I saw your death sentence.”
“…”
After thoroughly disciplining this country bumpkin ox physically and making sure she understood never to treat the dorm door like a toy, Sevitis rubbed her forehead and took out her door card again to open the door.
Before she could swipe the card, the door suddenly swung open violently from the inside!
Bang!
“Who’s being so rough! Making such a racket outside someone else’s dorm!” An impatient voice came from inside.
“Boss! Look! This door is double-sided!” Su Ling shouted excitedly again.
“…I know. Don’t state the obvious.” Sevitis silently took a big step back, expressionlessly flicking her bangs to try and cover the fresh red bump on her forehead.
“Oh? Is someone outside? Sorry, you’re too short. I couldn’t see you through the peephole.” The person inside apologized.
‘Is this height thing ever going to let up?!’
Sevitis forced a dry laugh.
“No big deal. Since we’re roommates now, we can all be tolerant of little frictions like this.”
“Oh, so we’re all in the same dorm. Sorry for yelling at you just now.”
As the speaker said this, she strode out from behind the door.
What met Sevitis’s eyes was a golden-haired, blue-eyed elf beauty… boy?
Her short hair covered her pointed ears, and her chest was as flat as Sevitis’s—easily comparable.
She looked nothing like someone who should be in a girls’ dormitory.
But there was something oddly familiar about her face, and that rough tone sounded somewhat recognizable…
“Ah! Sorry, sorry! We must have taken a wrong turn—didn’t realize this was the boys’ dorm!”
Su Ling reacted quickly, immediately bowing ninety degrees, grabbing Sevitis’s hand, and turning to run.
“Oh, oh, so you took a wrong turn. Next time pay a little more attention—Pay attention my ass!”
The elf “boy” finally caught on, stomping her feet in fury.
“This isn’t a boys’ dorm! And! Open your eyes and look carefully! I’m a woman!”
To add credibility, she slapped her own chest hard.
Unfortunately, the crisp smacking sound didn’t offer much proof.
Su Ling stared blankly at her, then nodded in sudden understanding.
“Oh… so you took the wrong turn?”
The elf girl’s forehead instantly bulged with veins.
Just as she was about to explode, Sevitis quickly stepped in and gave the dumb ox’s horn a solid whack.
“What are you thinking! None of us took a wrong turn. Otherwise, how could we have opened this dorm door?”
“Ohhh, so she really is a girl? But I’ve never seen a chest so…” Su Ling stopped mid-sentence, feeling the killing intent radiating from beside her, and silently swallowed the rest.
“Ahem. Nice to meet you. I’m Sevi Adams, a human. The slightly dim-witted ox demon next to me is Su Ling. We’re your future roommates. Please take care of me from now on.”
Sevitis cleared her throat and made a graceful greeting to ease the tension.
Actually, this wasn’t their first meeting.
Sevitis had finally remembered why this irritable elf looked so familiar—she was the one in the same exam hall during the written test, the one who had clutched her head and screamed in despair when submitting her paper.
As for why she hadn’t recognized her immediately…
Simple. Back then, she had also thought that person was a guy.
So in the context of a girls’ dormitory, her subconscious had filtered out that character entirely.
Seeing the other party introduce herself so politely, the elf girl found it hard to keep raging.
She took a deep breath and returned a somewhat stiff elven greeting, introducing herself.
“Yige Tiansitan, as you can see, a pure-blooded elven female.” The girl named Yige emphasized her gender once more.
‘Such crude behavior really does a disservice to this handsome elven appearance,’ Sevitis thought to herself.
The blunt ox girl, meanwhile, just said it straight out.
“How weird. Don’t books say elves are a gentle, elegant race? Why are you like this?”
“…You cow, you want to fight?”
After Sevitis struggled mightily to stop the commotion from spreading through the entire floor, the three of them finally entered their shared dormitory.
As soon as they stepped through the threshold, a fresh incense fragrance hit them.
Before them lay a super-large living room with a duplex structure.
Frosted tiles underfoot, no traditional lamps overhead, but several magic crystals emitting a soft warm glow, making the whole space cozy and bright.
In the center of the living room sat a full set of obviously expensive sofas.
To the left was a spacious open kitchen, fully stocked with all kinds of gleaming cookware.
To the right was a huge floor-to-ceiling glass window, perfectly framing the dazzling night view of Contar Academy like a painting.
Following the delicate wooden spiral staircase in the corner of the living room, the second floor revealed a spacious living area, with four bedrooms lined up in a row.
This level of decoration and configuration—even in the kingdom’s capital—would rival the high-end apartments nobles used for vacations, let alone a student dormitory.
“Wow! It’s so spacious inside! Even more luxurious than where we stayed during the assessment!” Su Ling exclaimed the moment she entered.
“Heh heh, you country bumpkins from the Spirit Race are so easily impressed.”
Yige stood with her hands on her hips, puffing out her chest.
“Come! Let me show you around the facilities properly!”
‘I can tell you’re just as excited…’ Sevitis propped her forehead, silently mourning the next few years of campus life.
Su Ling, on the other hand, didn’t care at all. She eagerly followed Yige’s lead and started her dormitory tour.
“Wow! Such a clean kitchen!”
“Wow! Such a pretty bathroom!”
“Wow! Such an adorable loli!”
What? What was that? The dorm came with something like that?
