Morning light had not yet fully pierced the sky.
Only a line of hazy gray seeped through the gap in the curtains, soaking the bedroom in a chaotic tone somewhere between a dream and reality.
Su Yuqing was awakened by a strange and persistent sensation—
It wasn’t the shriek of an alarm, nor was it her natural biological clock.
It was a wet, warm, and slightly grainy licking—much like soft barbs—that fell once, and then again, against the tip of her right index finger hanging off the edge of the bed.
Chuu… chuu…
The sound was very light, yet it was startlingly clear in the dead silence of the early morning.
the wet, itchy sensation traveled from the nerve endings of her fingertip up her spinal cord, eventually turning into a faint electric current that split the darkness of her sleeping consciousness.
Su Yuqing shuddered violently.
Her thick eyelashes quivered several times like the wings of a frightened butterfly before finally peeling open reluctantly.
Her vision was blurry at first, then gradually came into focus.
The first thing that caught her eye was a pair of eyes just inches away.
They were pale red, like two Liuli beads soaked in a clear spring, so translucent they reflected her dazed face just after waking.
At that moment, those eyes were filled with focus, even carrying a certain ritualistic solemnity as they stared at her without blinking.
The owner of those eyes—Bai Wanxue—had an exquisite little face that didn’t look like a real person’s, and it was almost touching the tip of Su Yuqing’s nose.
Her silver-gray hair was spread across the pillow in a bit of a mess, ambiguously intertwined with Su Yuqing’s own black hair.
As for Su Yuqing’s right index finger, it was currently held in the girl’s warm mouth.
The small, flexible tip of a tongue was seriously licking it over and over, as if a cat were cleaning its most precious possession.
“Uh…?!”
Su Yuqing was now completely awake.
Whatever lingering sleepiness she had was scared out of her by this overly stimulating wake-up call.
She tried to pull her hand back as if she had been electrocuted, but she found her finger was being unconsciously and gently sucked, so she couldn’t pull it away immediately.
Sensing that Su Yuqing had woken up, Bai Wanxue let go.
A string of crystal-clear saliva pulled a bright silver thread from Su Yuqing’s fingertip, shimmering with a subtle light in the hazy morning glow.
She looked at Su Yuqing’s wide eyes, and a satisfied smile without a hint of gloom bloomed on her face.
In an ethereal, soft voice, she said:
“Good morning, Master. Meow.”
“You…!”
Su Yuqing’s heart was still pounding, and her cheeks were heating up uncontrollably.
She finally succeeded in pulling back her wet finger and instinctively rubbed it against the bedsheets.
Her voice cracked due to shock and morning raspiness.
“How did you get onto my bed?! When did you get in?!”
‘I remember locking the bedroom door last night! Did this girl develop a mastery of wall-walking?!’
Bai Wanxue tilted her head slightly, seemingly not understanding why she was so surprised.
She answered naturally, “Because Wanxue wanted to come and wake Master up. Master said yesterday that we had to go to the company early today.”
She paused, and a flash of something bordering on regret crossed her pale red eyes as she continued, “However, Wanxue’s original plan was actually to keep kissing Master until the moment Master opened her eyes.”
“Waking Master up in that way would have definitely been wonderful. Meow.”
Su Yuqing’s breath hitched and her face turned even redder.
She could hardly imagine that scene.
“However~”
Bai Wanxue’s tone shifted, and her gaze drifted subtly toward the bedroom door.
Her voice carried a faint, almost unnoticeable hint of complaint and compromise.
“Due to a certain someone’s presence, Wanxue could only… make a bit of a compromise on this matter. Using licking instead isn’t bad either. Meow.”
After saying this, she licked her lips as if still savoring something wonderful.
“Someone…?”
Su Yuqing followed her gaze toward the door.
The bedroom door had been opened a crack at some point.
In the shadows of that crack, a tall figure was leaning against the doorframe with her arms crossed.
It was Kasahana Chiai.
She had clearly been standing there for a while.
She was still wearing the same loungewear from last night.
Her golden hair was a bit frizzy, with a few rebellious strands sticking out, suggesting she might not have slept well all night either.
At the moment, her face was expressionless, but those Liuli-colored eyes were terrifyingly cold in the dim light.
They were pinned like ice picks onto the finger Su Yuqing had just had licked and the overly close distance between the two.
The temperature in the air seemed to drop by ten degrees in an instant.
“Hey.”
Chiai finally spoke.
Her voice had the slight rasp of someone who had just woken up, but it was tempered with blatant coldness and irritation.
“What are you looking at?”
She was speaking to Su Yuqing, but her gaze sliced across Bai Wanxue like a blade.
“Get your butt up! Go to the bathroom and use disinfectant soap to wash that… ‘dirty finger’ of yours, inside and out! Do you hear me?!”
The words ‘dirty finger’ were emphasized heavily, carrying naked disgust and a surging anger.
Su Yuqing was startled by her intensity and instinctively responded, “Eeek…! Wash, I’ll wash! I’m going now!”
She practically scrambled off the bed.
It wasn’t until her toes touched the cold floor that she regained a sense of reality.
“And you! You Fox Spirit!”
Chiai’s firepower immediately turned toward Bai Wanxue, who was still sitting calmly on the bed.
Her voice rose with sharp accusation.
“Are you still holding her blanket?! Release your… shameless, stinking paws! Get off this bed! Meow! Is this a place you’re allowed to be?!”
She was so angry she even took a step forward, her finger almost pointing at Bai Wanxue’s nose.
Bai Wanxue looked at the bristling Chiai, then at Su Yuqing, who was rushing toward the bathroom in a panic.
The pure smile on her face faded slightly, but she wasn’t afraid.
She slowly lifted the blanket and slid off the bed with graceful movements.
Standing barefoot on the floor, she even gave a small, half-bow toward Chiai and said in an emotionless tone:
“I am sorry. Meow.”
But this apology made Chiai even more furious than a direct provocation would have.
She gave Bai Wanxue a fierce glare, let out a heavy huff, and turned toward the kitchen.
Her high heels—she actually wore slippers with heels even at home—made crisp click, click, click sounds on the floor.
Every step felt like she was treading on her own rage.
***
By the time Su Yuqing had splashed her face with cold water and washed her hands so thoroughly it felt like she was going to scrub off a layer of skin, she stepped out of the bathroom with lingering trepidation.
The scene in the living room made her freeze again.
On the dining table, no fewer than seven or eight cans of cat canned food had been opened.
There were various flavors: fish, chicken, shrimp, and some exquisite meal boxes that were clearly expensive imports.
Bai Wanxue was sitting upright at the table with a clean small saucer in front of her.
Chiai was holding a metal spoon, scooping large chunks of minced meat and jelly into Bai Wanxue’s saucer with a force that looked like she was venting her anger.
She also shoveled some onto another plate clearly prepared for herself.
The dining table was a mess.
Juices from the cans had even splashed onto the tablecloth.
“Are you sure…”
Su Yuqing looked at the mountain of canned meat and couldn’t help but speak up.
Her voice still carried a bit of lingering shock.
“Are the two of you really going to be able to finish this many cans so early in the morning?”
This amount was more than enough to feed two adult Bengal tigers!
Chiai didn’t even look up as she continued to poke the cans forcefully.
The metal spoon clattered against the sides of the cans, creating a piercing noise.
She snapped back irritably, “What do you care?! It’s my pleasure! I’ll open as many as I want! If we can’t finish them, we’ll throw them away! Anyway, it’s my own earned money I’m spending! Meow!”
Every sentence she spoke was explosive.
Su Yuqing wisely shut her mouth and silently walked to the other end of the dining table.
She picked up a piece of toast and nibbled on it, trying to minimize her presence as much as possible.
The atmosphere at the table was cold and stagnant, filled only with the noise Chiai was making and the faint sound of Bai Wanxue chewing quietly.
After a few suffocating minutes, Chiai seemed to have finally finished venting.
She threw an empty can into the trash bin at her feet with a bang.
She picked up a napkin, slowly wiped her hands and the corner of her mouth, and then raised her eyes.
Her Liuli-colored gaze hit Su Yuqing like a searchlight.
“Listen—”
She dragged out the word, breaking the silence.
Her tone had returned to her usual controlling cadence, but there were still undercurrents swirling beneath…
