“Su Yichen… he’s… a Hunter?” Shen Ran asked, a bit incredulously.
Although Mo Qingqiu’s explanation was a bit roundabout, she understood the gist of it.
However, she found it difficult to connect the Su Yichen in her memory with the ‘excellent Hunter’ Mo Qingqiu described.
The girl scratched her head, her face full of doubt. “But he looks so ordinary. He’s not particularly handsome.”
“He isn’t even as tall as I am… and he doesn’t seem to have any special talents…”
For a moment, Shen Ran couldn’t fathom why someone as outstanding as Senior Mo Qingqiu would have such a high opinion of Su Yichen.
From her perspective, there was nothing attractive about him. He wasn’t outgoing, he rarely spoke… and he seemed like a bit of a loner.
His looks weren’t striking, and his height was even slightly shorter than her own. As Shen Ran thought it over, she felt that Su Yichen was far removed from her ideal boyfriend.
“You’re only seeing the surface, Shen Ran.”
Mo Qingqiu chuckled softly. “If Su Yichen were ordinary and lacked excellence… how could he have attracted your roommate, Tong Ya? Tong Ya is not only smart but also quite beautiful, right?”
“If Su Yichen were ordinary, how could he have earned Luo Yueli’s favor? The way Luo Yueli spoke to him just now… she was likely more gentle with him than with any other boy you’ve ever seen her talk to, right?”
“Thinking about it that way, don’t you feel like that boy might have merits you haven’t realized yet?”
The expression on Shen Ran’s face shifted from bewildered confusion to a sudden moment of realization.
She truly had never seen Luo Yueli speak to any boy with such a gentle attitude. Usually, when boys tried to strike up a conversation, Lizi acted extremely aloof.
It wasn’t that she was arrogant, but rather she possessed a natural, cold temperament. However, when she spoke to Su Yichen today, that coldness was nowhere to be found.
And Tong Ya had actually come out to eat with a boy one-on-one, and at a dessert house of all places—a favorite spot for couples…
“Senior Mo Qingqiu, I think I understand a bit now. Do you mean… Lizi and Tong Ya both like Su Yichen?”
“I didn’t say that. I don’t know for sure; I’m just telling you what I saw,” Mo Qingqiu replied.
“Furthermore, Shen Ran, did you know that Su Yichen had the highest admission score in the College of Liberal Arts this year?”
“His score was high enough to enter the College of Science and Engineering at Qingyue University, yet he chose the College of Liberal Arts. Why is that…?”
“Perhaps it’s because his childhood friend, Luo Yueli, is in the College of Liberal Arts?” Mo Qingqiu suggested, leading her on. She didn’t provide a concrete conclusion, letting Shen Ran fill in the blanks herself.
Shen Ran scratched her head in confusion. She was decent when it came to studying, but she was truly unskilled in matters of the heart.
“Senior Mo Qingqiu, could it be that Su Yichen likes Lizi?”
“It’s not impossible, but he’s out eating dessert with Tong Ya today, not Luo Yueli.”
“Then is he with both Tong Ya and Lizi at the same time…?” Shen Ran shook her head vigorously as soon as the words left her mouth. “Or do both Tong Ya and Lizi like Su Yichen?”
She didn’t even believe her own words. How could that be possible?
“I don’t know. Today was the first time I met Su Yichen and Tong Ya.”
Mo Qingqiu shrugged and said, “We are just talking about what kind of person Su Yichen is. Shen Ran, thinking about it now, do you still think Su Yichen is ordinary?”
“Both of your roommates are such excellent girls, yet they both have these ambiguous connections with Su Yichen… What do you think?”
Shen Ran was momentarily speechless. ‘It’s true… Lizi and Xiaoya are both so outstanding. They definitely wouldn’t have poor judgment.’
‘And Senior thinks so too, right?’
Thinking of this, Shen Ran lifted her eyes to look at Mo Qingqiu, only to find her drinking tea with a very elegant posture. ‘Such a perfect Senior… if only I could be as amazing as Senior Mo Qingqiu one day…’
Mo Qingqiu sipped her tea leisurely, feeling no rush at all. She knew Shen Ran would eventually come to that conclusion.
Comparisons between girls were quite complex—something most boys couldn’t understand.
For example, if a girl who was fairly pretty was called beautiful by a boy she considered ordinary, she wouldn’t feel much.
But if a girl she considered even prettier than herself praised her, she would be happy for a long time.
The same logic applied here.
It didn’t matter if Shen Ran didn’t see it herself; as long as the fact that ‘roommates more excellent than you think that boy is great’ was presented to her, she would definitely stop doubting Su Yichen.
She might not change her mind instantly, but at the very least, she would try to believe it.
“It seems that way…”
Shen Ran still didn’t quite understand because Su Yichen really didn’t attract her at all; he was practically invisible. He was so ordinary that even his self-introduction in class hadn’t left an impression on her.
After a long period of contemplation, Shen Ran finally nodded and said, “Alright, Senior Mo Qingqiu. I’ll find a way to get to know Su Yichen first, and then I’ll ask him to help me.”
“Good.”
Upon hearing this, a mysterious smile played on Mo Qingqiu’s tempting red lips. “Then I’ll look forward to your good news. If you have any questions, you can find me anytime.”

September 23, afternoon, cloudy.
Shen Ran walked out of the coffee house with a heavy heart. She had originally thought she would get a strategy for her pursuit quickly, but instead, she was told to get in touch with Su Yichen first.
But after thinking it over, Shen Ran felt Mo Qingqiu’s suggestion made a lot of sense. She had absolutely no idea how to interact with boys.
She had been classmates with Jiang Jingjie for over half a month, and almost all the boys and girls in class who got along well were already walking together every day.
Yet she had done nothing. Even on VX, they only chatted every few days, and most of his questions were about Lizi. There was no progress at all.
Shen Ran suddenly felt like a tool. It might be better to try making a male friend first and then ask that friend for help—killing two birds with one stone.
TV dramas and novels always had plots like that. When a boy was pursuing a girl, the shy ones would first get to know the girl’s friends or roommates and then ask them to help introduce them or close the distance.
The same logic applied here; it was easy to understand. But… how was she supposed to get to know Su Yichen? If she didn’t go through Lizi…
She at least chatted with Jiang Jingjie occasionally, but she hadn’t spoken a single word to Su Yichen.
As she walked, Shen Ran’s brow furrowed so deeply she almost bumped into a girl passing by. ‘What should I do…?’
She thought for forty minutes, nearly walking all the way from Qingyue Square back to her dormitory, but she couldn’t think of a good way.
‘Should I…’
‘Try adding him on VX first?’
‘When a boy and girl first meet…’
‘It’s usually… like this, right?’
Shen Ran bit her lip and found Su Yichen’s VX in the class group.
