Chapter 52: Gods are not omniscient or omnipotent

“Roar!”

With the dragon’s roar drawing ever closer, everyone inside the grand hall could feel that some colossal being was about to descend from the sky.

Soon, a vast shadow covered the entire hall.

A swift dive crashed straight through the hall’s gates, a single claw piercing the blood-red storm and shattering the monstrous form taking shape within.

Due to Chimera’s anti-magic properties, this claw strike was extraordinarily powerful, instantly dispelling the blood-red storm the evil god had conjured to protect Terrence.

With the storm’s shield gone, the undead lost their vigor beneath the Holy Light.

The undead guards gathered around Terrence dissipated like smoke, purified and vanished one by one.

At last, Terrence, the core, was left completely exposed.

“Simon!”

Alexia raised her hand, grasping lightly upward.

Simon understood immediately, throwing his longsword into the air.

A swift flash of light streaked before everyone’s eyes.

Alexia caught Simon’s thrown sword, and as she touched it, flames blazed along the blade.

The Holy Light it emitted was no longer gentle but carried a suffocating power.

Before anyone could react, Alexia had already charged before Terrence.

The longsword pierced his heart, then with a cross slash, severed his head and shattered his body.

She gazed at the torn-apart Terrence, yet her eyes showed a gentle emotion.

“Good night, Father. Don’t disturb me again. The Empire belongs to me now.”

She had promised to end Terrence with her own hands, and she kept her word—not relying on Simon as she had last time.

As she landed, the longsword, forcibly enchanted by the God of Light, could no longer withstand the strain and completely disintegrated.

The angelic wings behind her also gradually turned to light and faded away.

This signified that the God of Light was departing from her body.

“God of Light, I will remember today’s events on the account of the Holy Light Church.”

Alexia looked up at the fading brilliance.

Though her body was weak, she forced herself to question the God of Light.

“But before you leave, I must ask—just who is this?”

Clearly, this dreadful evil god had defiled Lady Pandas’ remains and desecrated the Royal Family of Loyin.

From any perspective, she was resolved to tear the being to pieces—no possibility of reconciliation.

The fading light gathered once more, forming into a sphere suspended above the grand hall.

“End Chaosbringer Larodora. If you wish to find It, you must first find Zanno. She is the human who has hunted It the longest—otherwise, it may take you ten, even a hundred years, to trace Larodora’s trail.”

“In the future, should you truly find Its true form, I promise to aid you unconditionally in slaying It.”

The God of Light had long desired to destroy Larodora, who constantly disrupted the world’s order.

Unfortunately, Its power was limited and could only react passively, unable to take true action.

Since Alexia had decided to fight to the end, the God of Light had to follow.

All It needed was a precise location.

“Zanno?!”

Simon froze upon hearing the name.

Alexia turned to the stunned Simon.

“Simon? Do you know her?”

Simon shook his head.

“I don’t. But Your Majesty might ask Elma, or September Nine.”

The chief witch’s name was Zanno.

Simon didn’t believe the God of Light was referring to someone else with the same name.

Only the world’s top figures had the potential to slay gods—and the chief witch was one of them.

His words immediately clarified the identity for Alexia.

“A witch… Truly a troublesome problem.”

She was nearly at war with the Witch Council, and now she had to cooperate with them—this truly troubled her.

Moreover, with Elma seeking vengeance against the Witch Council, she couldn’t just turn and act differently so quickly.

As they conversed, Chimera suddenly let out a slightly childish voice.

“God of Light! You’re not allowed to leave!”

Chimera’s chest suddenly opened, and a small figure dropped out.

Belinda gripped Simon’s sword in one hand, the empty scabbard in the other.

Seeing her draw the longsword, Simon understood why Chimera had suddenly descended upon the Imperial Palace.

What surprised Simon was that Belinda dared ride Chimera directly into the palace.

“I want you to explain—why wouldn’t you answer my mother? She prayed to you every day, you must have heard her heart. With your power, saving her would have been effortless!”

Everything that had just happened—Belinda had witnessed it all.

The God of Light’s strength was beyond question.

Yet such an existence refused to aid her devout mother.

“But you still let her die! Die so miserably!”

Belinda cried out at the God of Light.

The God of Light was silent for a moment, then answered.

“You are correct. Saving her would have been easy for me—I only needed to exert a little power to rescue her from Larodora’s grasp.”

“Here, It would not dare oppose me directly. My power completely suppresses It.”

It never lied to mortals, even if Belinda did not believe in It.

“I am a god, but not an omniscient and omnipotent one. Your mother was one among many faithful. I noticed her prayers, but could not watch her constantly.”

It had done all it could to answer the calls of Its followers.

Yet those who believed in It were spread across the world.

Even for the most devout, It needed time and strength to respond to each.

What’s more, greater, crucial matters awaited Its attention.

In Its eyes, Lady Pandas’ case was not urgent and thus not prioritized.

Compared to ninety-nine percent of people or gods in the world, the volume of information It processed was overwhelming.

Even It sometimes faced the limits of Its own abilities.

Thus, It was forced to selectively ignore certain matters, choosing to focus on world-altering events like today’s.

The lives of small individuals were not among Its concerns.

Life was equal, but the value of each person’s existence was different.

No matter how great Its power, It could not save everyone and had to make choices.

“Moreover, you may have misunderstood. She never prayed to me for her own life—but for you to survive.”

The God of Light gently revealed a harsh and helpless truth.

“If you had been present, perhaps I would have noticed both you and her. But you were not, and she did not pray for her own survival, so I had no reason to respond.”

A god is not omnipotent.

Even It has its limits and cannot do everything perfectly.
