Tao Lani heard Mo Baiwei’s venomous accusations—or at least what the girl considered venomous—and the corners of her mouth curled into a slight smile.
“That’s right… We Blood Demons are just that despicable. We’ll use any means necessary to achieve our goals…”
Hearing this, Mo Baiwei was so frustrated she was nearly driven to tears.
She had insulted the girl so clearly, yet how could this Blood Demon be so thick-skinned?
“You! You, you, you!”
Mo Baiwei clutched her fists, her small face turning beet-red with anger.
She had spent so many years hiding just to avoid being caught by the Holy See.
Yet, the Blood Demon in front of her had actually received an invitation from them.
Not only could she move freely across the Kingdom Continent, but she could also openly use magic and engage in aggressive behavior.
Double standards!
The Holy See was nothing but a pack of double-standard hypocrites!
Mo Baiwei felt a wave of self-pity when she thought about how she had to slink through alleys and forests just to get a breath of fresh air.
She could almost never travel freely.
The last time she had revealed her true form, she had been beaten half to death by those thugs sent by the Holy See.
How hateful!
“What’s wrong? Are you going to tell me or not?”
Tao Lani noticed that Mo Baiwei had suddenly fallen silent.
Wanting to tease the little Elf, she spoke in a mocking tone.
“I… I…”
Mo Baiwei hesitated.
She did not want to say it.
Once that name got out, the Elves would surely find her.
If that happened, she was finished.
“I don’t want to say it…”
“Eh? Why? I clearly told you my real name, yet you keep hiding yours from me.”
Tao Lani sounded confused.
“Introducing yourselves to each other is only polite, you know.”
‘It’s just a name. Why is this little Elf so scared?’
“But, but…”
Mo Baiwei tried to find another excuse, but Tao Lani interrupted her.
“Introducing yourselves is the first step to becoming friends, isn’t it? If I don’t even know your name, how can I be your friend?”
Seeing that interrogation wasn’t working, Tao Lani changed her tactics.
‘As if I’d actually be friends with her! Not just anyone can be my friend.’
Though this little Elf would accompany her on the journey and provide some entertainment, that was the extent of it.
Once this commission was over, she had to head to the Papal State to handle her affairs.
It was safe to say their paths would never cross again.
“Friends…?”
Mo Baiwei dithered.
Hearing Tao Lani mention being friends caused her to daze for a moment.
Her panic subsided slightly, and a flicker of hesitation crossed her eyes.
As an Elf, it seemed she didn’t have any friends…
“What is it? Are you unwilling? Don’t tell me you’ve never had a friend before.”
Seeing Mo Baiwei’s blank expression, Tao Lani formed a suspicion.
‘Could it be this girl didn’t have a single friend in the Elven Kingdom? If that’s the case… was she kicked out?’
Thinking that this girl might have been hated by the entire Elven Kingdom and ordered into exile by the Royal Family, Tao Lani felt a pang of sympathy.
She couldn’t help but look Mo Baiwei over more carefully.
The more she looked, the stronger the sense of incongruity became.
First was the pale gold hair.
Typical Elven hair was usually vibrant in color.
Although the girl before her had a unique aura, she certainly didn’t look like a purebred Elf.
Second was the tail behind her…
‘Wait, since when do Elves have tails?’
For a split second, Tao Lani wondered if she was seeing things.
Was the girl not an Elf?
Why did she have a tail?
That slender tail looked so out of place behind Mo Baiwei, as if the Creator had played a prank when making her.
Feeling Tao Lani’s gaze sweeping over her, Mo Baiwei’s hesitation wavered.
Finally, she spoke up.
“I think… you should just do whatever you’re going to do to me.”
She didn’t believe that Tao Lani could develop genuine feelings for her just from this trip.
The other girl had no reason to be her friend, and she herself didn’t have the qualities to be a friend to someone like her.
Therefore, if she was useless and the girl still wanted to be friends, she had to be after something else.
For example, trying to get her to lower her guard to extract information.
While refusing to cooperate might lead to her being captured and toyed with by this Blood Demon, being caught by a Blood Demon was the same as being caught by an Elf.
Mo Baiwei would rather be captured by a Blood Demon than ever face the Elves again.
“What? Why?”
Tao Lani had thought Mo Baiwei was finally going to give her name.
She hadn’t expected the girl to simply resign herself to fate, thinking she was about to be attacked.
“There is no why. You aren’t sincerely trying to be my friend anyway. I might as well accept my fate,” Mo Baiwei said.
She felt her internal panic gradually fading, which stopped her body from shaking so violently.
“Huh?”
Tao Lani felt a headache coming on.
‘It’s just being friends. Why does it have to be about sincerity or whatever?’
Given her status, countless people wanted to be her friend.
She was never short of companions.
Yet today, she was being rejected by this little Elf.
“I really can’t deal with you.”
Tao Lani rubbed her forehead and then slowly walked toward Mo Baiwei.
Seeing her approach, Mo Baiwei accepted her end.
After all that fuss, the other girl was finally moving in.
As Tao Lani took step after step, the light in Mo Baiwei’s eyes vanished, replaced by a dull gray.
She had already envisioned her future misery.
“My name is Tao Lani Ramrad, the Second Princess of the Blood Demon Empire. I want to be your friend.”
Tao Lani stopped in front of Mo Baiwei and reached out a hand, her gaze sincere.
Hearing those words, the darkness in Mo Baiwei’s eyes was replaced by shock.
‘She really just wants to be my friend?’
“You…?”
“What? Do I need to provide more of an introduction?”
Meeting Tao Lani’s earnest eyes, Mo Baiwei felt a sensation she had never experienced before.
“You really just want to be my friend?”
“Really.”
“But you were chasing me and trying to hit me before…”
“If you were seen naked, you’d be chasing someone to hit them too, okay?!”
Tao Lani looked at Mo Baiwei, exasperated.
‘I’m the one who suffered the loss here, so why am I the one having to coax this little Elf?’
Hearing Tao Lani’s response, Mo Baiwei imagined what she would do if she were seen naked.
Suddenly, Tao Lani’s behavior seemed perfectly normal.
“Then… will you still hit me now?”
“We’re both girls. Seeing a bit isn’t a big deal!”
Tao Lani gave Mo Baiwei a frustrated look, feeling that the girl was a bit slow on the uptake.
She had only chased her because the girl had been disguised as a man.
Her anger had stemmed from being offended by the opposite sex.
Once she learned the other person was also a girl, she had to swallow her pride and simply chalk it up to the other person being rude.
Since Mo Baiwei hadn’t stumbled upon her on purpose, most of Tao Lani’s anger had already dissipated.
“So, do you accept my invitation or not!”
Seeing Mo Baiwei standing there dazed, Tao Lani’s headache returned.
“I, I…”
“If you don’t agree, I’m taking the offer back.”
Seeing no progress, Tao Lani lost interest and began to withdraw her hand.
“I agree!”
Sensing the girl’s sincerity and looking at her hand, Mo Baiwei felt a sense of vertigo.
Since the other girl had gone this far, it would be too rude to refuse.
“I… My name is Mo Baiwei Lilweiya, Princess of the Elven Kingdom. I want to be your friend too!”
Mo Baiwei placed her hand in Tao Lani’s, expressing her feelings.
“Ah? You’re a princess too?”
Tao Lani was stunned by the introduction.
She hadn’t expected the little Elf before her to be a princess of the Elven Kingdom.
‘I’m here on official business, but why is she here?! And with that disguise… she couldn’t be a spy, could she?’
“Why are you alone on the Kingdom Continent? Where are your attendants?”
Tao Lani realized she wouldn’t figure it out on her own, so she decided to just ask.
“I don’t have any attendants…”
Mo Baiwei’s mood plummeted as soon as the subject was raised.
“I was kicked out.”
“What? The Elven Kingdom dared to throw a princess out on the street?!”
Tao Lani had initially suspected she had been kicked out, but she had dismissed the thought once she learned the girl was a princess.
She hadn’t expected a princess to actually be exiled.
“Yes…”
Mo Baiwei’s emotions were clearly dampened by the mention of her past.
“Tch, you really are pitiful.”
Tao Lani wanted to say more, but seeing Mo Baiwei’s expression, she temporarily dropped the subject.
Curious, Tao Lani circled behind Mo Baiwei.
Looking at the tail, she suddenly flashed a mischievous smile.
“Why do you have a tail anyway? Can I touch it?”
Even as she asked, Tao Lani’s hand was already reaching out.
Mo Baiwei’s tail sensed the threat and darted in the opposite direction.
“That’s probably not a good idea…”
Mo Baiwei protested in a small voice, feeling at a loss.
“We’re friends. Don’t be so stingy.”
Seeing that she had missed, Tao Lani pouted and prepared to try again.
“But my tail is very sensitive.”
Mo Baiwei hesitated.
Her tail truly was extremely sensitive.
While it had been touched directly during their earlier fight, the situation had been dire, so she had subconsciously ignored the sensation.
This time was different.
She was relaxed now.
If Tao Lani caught her tail, she might have a very impolite reaction.
“It’s fine. I won’t be rough.”
Seeing that she couldn’t convince Tao Lani otherwise, Mo Baiwei gave up and allowed her to touch the tail.
“Hah!”
Tao Lani watched the swaying tail and, with quick reflexes, grabbed the slender, milk-white limb.
“Eek!”
As her tail was seized, Mo Baiwei felt a jolt of tingling numbness shoot straight to her brain.
She couldn’t help but let out a soft cry as her legs turned to jelly, and she collapsed onto the ground.
Seeing Mo Baiwei’s reaction, Tao Lani found it incredibly interesting.
She began to knead the tail in her hand.
The tail felt wonderful—no fur, just smooth skin.
If she squeezed firmly, she could feel the delicate bone inside.
Every time she felt the bone, a soft moan escaped Mo Baiwei’s lips.
As Tao Lani continued her movements, Mo Baiwei felt waves of intense, numbing electricity wandering through her brain, constantly battering her consciousness.
Whenever Tao Lani applied pressure, the numbing sensation intensified sharply.
‘I… I can’t… I can’t take it anymore.’
Mo Baiwei struggled to lift her head amidst the endless waves of sensation.
Panting, she looked at Tao Lani, who was clearly enjoying herself.
The culprit was full of excitement, showing no signs of stopping.
Powerlessly lowering her head, Mo Baiwei’s body went limp.
Her mind gradually lost all logic under the assault of the numbing sensations.
In the quiet night, only the sound of the girl’s heavy breathing and occasional soft moans remained.
