Even if you can fight, you can’t possibly withstand bullets, right?
Are all young people these days so reckless?
“Bai Nian, there’s still time to run…”
Shi Gao said, sounding a bit panicked.
With her invisibility, leaving here unnoticed wouldn’t be hard.
“Shh, don’t talk.”
Bai Nian made a gesture for silence and slowly moved to the edge of the stairwell.
Right then, several burly men in black appeared upstairs, wearing bulletproof vests and carrying AKs.
When they saw only a white-haired girl before them, their expressions were first startled, then instantly turned to delight.
But before they could react, they suddenly felt their heads become unbearably heavy, their balance lost as they collapsed hard onto the floor.
No one was spared—as long as they met Bai Nian’s gaze, the same thing happened.
“Wha—what’s going on?!”
Shi Gao was stunned.
“Wait, is this Hypnosis?”
Could a Hypnosis user with the Three Rune Augmentation really achieve this level?
Bai Nian ignored Shi Gao and went straight upstairs, bending down to pick up an AK from the ground and, without hesitation, pulled the trigger at the sleeping men.
For a moment, gunfire echoed through the whole building, one burst after another, like strings of firecrackers going off.
Next, she pulled a Hand Grenade from a corpse’s belt and tossed it upstairs without a word.
With a thunderous boom, the building shook, smoke billowed, and the deafening blast made the Zombies outside grow even more frenzied.
Now, everyone in the Stronghold knew something was wrong inside.
The Leader upstairs was startled, shivering from the noise, and immediately shoved the woman beside him away.
“What the hell is going on?!” he yelled, zipping up his pants while snatching the Golden Desert Eagle from the table and storming out in a rage.
The hallway was thick with smoke and dust, and he saw people around him surging toward the stairwell.
But they hadn’t gone more than a few steps before all of them collapsed to the ground in the same bizarre way.
Then, the Leader caught sight of a white-haired figure in his line of vision.
Just as he was about to raise his gun to shoot, a gunshot rang out, quicker than his own reflexes.
Pain shot through his hand, and the Golden Desert Eagle was sent flying from his grip.
With such an obvious sign, Bai Nian immediately recognized him as the Leader.
“Argh…”
The Leader gripped his wrist tightly, gritting his teeth in agony.
“Who… who are you?”
Seeing the figure walking toward him, he instinctively retreated.
Bai Nian kicked him to the ground in one swift motion, stepping hard on his chest and glaring down.
“Where’s the Doctor?”
At her words, the Leader’s eyes flickered evasively, but he still gritted his teeth and replied, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. What Doctor?”
“Playing dumb, huh!”
Bai Nian kicked him again, grabbed his collar, and hurled him into a classroom nearby.
The door shattered on impact, and he crashed hard onto the floor.
“Shi-ge, make us both invisible.”
Bai Nian called out.
Shi Gao quickly followed her in at her words.
She dragged the Leader into a corner, bracing herself on Shi Gao’s shoulder, and Shi Gao stomped on the Leader.
With a flash of white light, the three of them vanished from the room.
Those who followed in stared at the empty classroom in confusion.
“Damn it, where did they go?”
At this point, the Leader had already fallen into a deep sleep.
Bai Nian, standing to the side, also closed her eyes, leaving only Shi Gao on guard.
Seeing those people leave the classroom, Shi Gao quietly let out a sigh of relief.
This was also why Bai Nian hadn’t used Dream Manipulation at the start—Shi Gao couldn’t handle the remaining people on his own.
After a while, she suddenly opened her eyes.
“The Doctor is missing!”
“Huh?”
Shi Gao looked bewildered.
He didn’t even know why Bai Nian was so sure the Doctor would be here.
Just as Xiao Hei had said, this place really could produce Inhibitors, but that was in the past.
Now that the Doctor was missing, all the Inhibitors inside the School were just air-dropped supplies or part of previous stockpiles—they’d long since lost the method of production.
The Doctor was a biologist well past his fifties, not a distinguished guest here, but rather someone in a forced partnership.
Of course, he was also being coerced.
“I knew this mission wouldn’t be so simple. Now our target is missing, and in such a huge City, trying to find one person is like searching for a needle in a haystack,” Bai Nian muttered.
There’s even the possibility the Doctor is already dead, since the mission objective was the confidential documents in his hands—not the person himself.
“Let’s go.”
Bai Nian turned to Shi Gao.
He didn’t ask further, just nodded silently.
Anyway, I’m a Support Profession, just follow the expert.
Shi Gao had completely forgotten that Bai Nian was also a Support Profession.
With the Leader’s memories from his dream, Bai Nian now understood not just this School inside out, but also the situation in H City.
The two of them went to the Leader’s former room and saw the woman dressed scantily.
With just a glance from Bai Nian, the woman fell into a deep sleep.
Bai Nian then rummaged through the drawers and pulled out a Remote Control and two Portable Searchlights.
Just like that, the two of them strolled downstairs openly.
Anyone who saw Bai Nian along the way collapsed immediately, and so they smoothly reached a room.
The windows were sealed with wooden boards, the door thick with dust, and even the padlock was rusty—a place that had clearly been abandoned for years.
Bai Nian didn’t hesitate; she kicked the door open with one blow.
A thick mix of mold and dust rushed out at them, and Bai Nian immediately spotted a wooden bed inside.
“Why are we here?”
Shi Gao asked, puzzled.
“To get out of here, of course,” Bai Nian replied, and then moved the bed aside by hand, revealing a hidden passage beneath a wooden plank.
She went down first, with Shi Gao following close behind.
The two turned on the Portable Searchlights, the harsh purple light dispelling the surrounding darkness and illuminating their path forward.
Once they were far enough away, Bai Nian immediately pressed the button on the Remote Control in her hand.
Rumble!
The entire tunnel began to shake, dust falling from the ceiling as the two instinctively covered their mouths and noses.
At that moment, all around the School, countless explosives detonated simultaneously.
In an instant, all four surrounding walls were blown apart, flames shooting into the sky and thick smoke billowing everywhere.
The buildings collapsed, dust flying in all directions, and the School was reduced to ruins in a single moment.
Countless Zombies charged through the sea of fire, burning as they stormed into the School.
The Survivors defending the perimeter were caught off guard and died instantly in the explosions…
A Stronghold that had lasted so long fell just like that.
With a bang, the cover at the top of the tunnel was pushed open, and the two climbed out to find themselves in a pitch-black little room.
Bai Nian patted the dust off her clothes and tidied her hair, her face full of distaste.
“So dirty.”
