Chapter 43: A Hug

“What did you go do?”

“I called and asked. That itching is a normal reaction; it’ll disappear in three to five days.”

“Why is it happening?”

Ye Moran walked over silently and gently stroked the Little Fellow’s head.

“Stop asking about that, okay? Just sleep well. When you wake up tomorrow, forget everything that happened today, all right?”

“I can’t forget!”

“You hit me!”

Su Ling’s lip trembled as if he were about to burst into tears.

“I didn’t hit you.”

Ye Moran was confused. She didn’t remember hitting the Little Fellow, and she knew she never would. Why did the Little Fellow think that?

“If you didn’t hit me, why does my nose hurt? And I have a big bump on my head! You did it!”

“Those were accidents!”

Ye Moran could only laugh in exasperation at the Little Fellow’s logic. Those were clearly accidents; she wasn’t the one who did it, right?

“I don’t care! I got hurt because of you anyway, so you hit me!”

“Fine, fine. I hit you. Is that enough?”

“Then apologize!”

“How can I apologize to make you happy?”

“Hmm…”

Su Ling thought about it carefully, and a light bulb suddenly went off in his head.

“I want you to take me out to play tomorrow!”

“Where do you want to go?”

“I don’t know, but you have to take me. If you don’t take me out to play, I won’t forgive you!”

“All right. Let me think about where to take you tomorrow.”

“Mhm, you’d better think hard. If you can’t think of anything, I really won’t forgive you!”

“Don’t worry, I’ll definitely take you to the most fun place. I won’t let you down!”

“As for now, go to sleep, okay?”

“Okay, but you can’t hold me. You always hug me so tight and wake me up. I can’t sleep well at all!”

Su Ling’s voice was full of resentment. His head had been held tightly by her for the past few days, making it impossible to sleep well — especially since her hands always moved around, making him uncomfortable.

“Hmm… fine…”

“Hmph!”

Ye Moran stared at the Little Fellow without blinking. She wasn’t looking at his face, but at the top of his head!

As the Little Fellow got angry, two small things under his hair seemed to respond by twitching.

‘I’ll have to give him another injection tonight!’

Thinking this, her voice remained gentle as she spoke.

“I promise. I’ll agree to anything. I’ll take you out tomorrow for several days until you’ve had your fill of fun. Then we’ll come back!”

“Okay…”

Su Ling was soothed to sleep. Even as he closed his eyes, he was still wondering where she would take him tomorrow.

The next day.

Su Ling had just woken up. Dazed, he watched Ye Moran as she seemed to be packing bags. He didn’t even pay much attention to the pain in his arm.

‘Why is she packing luggage?’

“You’re awake?”

Ye Moran turned around and smiled at the Little Fellow.

“Do you want to sleep a little longer? I still have some luggage to pack, so you can sleep a bit more.”

“Mm… what are you doing?”

Su Ling stared blankly for a long time before asking in confusion.

“Taking you out to play, of course.”

“Don’t you remember?”

“Going out to play?”

The confusion in Su Ling’s eyes deepened. He knew about going out to play; after all, he was the one who suggested it last night. He couldn’t have forgotten it that quickly!

But did going out to play require suitcases?

In his memory, going out to play meant visiting a nearby park, an amusement park, or some scenic spots. None of those required packing a suitcase.

“Tsk, it looks like you forgot, Little Fellow!”

Ye Moran shook her head helplessly, walked over to the Little Fellow, and affectionately pinched his cheek.

“Are you awake yet?”

“If not, you can sleep a little longer.”

“No need.”

Su Ling shook his head. Though his head was still a bit foggy, he was mostly awake. He still had some lingering questions.

He pointed at the suitcase and asked, “Where are we going? Why are we bringing luggage?”

“We’re going to Tiannan. The scenery there is very nice; you’ll definitely like it.”

“And there’s a lot of great food there.”

“Mm… okay.”

Su Ling wasn’t exactly happy because that place was completely foreign to him. His only impression of it was mushrooms.

He had no expectations for the place. Furthermore, he had thought they would just wander around nearby last night. He never imagined they would be going on a long trip!

Besides, could he even travel far?

At that thought, he frowned and looked at her, asking hesitantly, “Didn’t Mom and Dad go through with my Identity Cancellation? I shouldn’t be able to buy tickets, right?”

“Oh, you mean that? Don’t worry, your new Identity Card was processed long ago!”

As Ye Moran spoke, she pulled a brand-new Identity Card from her pocket and handed it to the Little Fellow.

Su Ling took it blankly and looked down. The information on the Identity Card was completely unfamiliar. Aside from his photo, everything else was foreign.

Even the name was the one she had given him, Su Ling, instead of his previous name, Ye Jin. Even the address on the card was unfamiliar; he had no memory of it at all!

“What’s wrong? Are you so happy you’re speechless?”

Su Ling’s brow furrowed. What kind of logic did this woman have? He was clearly unhappy. How could she not tell if he was happy or sad?

He shot her a glare, wanting to give her a punch!

‘But if I punch her, it won’t hurt her at all — it’ll probably just make her happy!’

“Little Fellow, I apologize for what happened before. It was my fault for making you legally ‘dead’ for no reason.”

“But I don’t want you to live as Ye Jin anymore. From now on, live as Su Ling, all right?”

Ye Moran’s voice was gentle, and her tone even carried a hint of a plea.

Su Ling remained silent.

He had actually accepted the identity of Su Ling long ago. After all, that wasn’t an identity he should have had anyway. What confused him was the address on the Identity Card.

Reasonably, that place should be his home, but he no longer had a home. Furthermore, the address looked like it was somewhere in the suburbs.

Suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind. To verify his theory, he looked at her.

“Is the address on here for that Villa?”

“You’re so smart, Little Fellow! That’s right, it’s the Villa.”

“I know you don’t like that place, but I had people start the application while you were at the Villa. The address was filled in as that location back then, so there’s no way to change it now. I’m sorry, Little Fellow!”

Ye Moran’s voice was full of guilt. Seeing this, Su Ling’s heart softened for some reason. He patted her hand and shook his head.

“It’s fine. Anywhere is okay. I don’t really hate that place; I just don’t like staying there!”

“Is that true, Little Fellow?”

“Mhm.”

“Hehe, you’re so good, Little Fellow. I really want to hug you!”

“Wait — !”

Before Su Ling could react, he was pulled into a tight embrace. He tried to struggle a couple of times but eventually gave up, letting her hold him.
