“Bai Yu, what are you looking at?”
Bai Yu was staring at her phone screen, looking for Mu Yue’s chat box.
Just then, she suddenly felt a warm breath and realized Loweia had leaned over at some point, her gaze fixed on the phone screen.
‘She probably didn’t see the chat history with Su Keke just now,’ Bai Yu thought.
Even though there wasn’t anything wrong with the content — and she wouldn’t mind letting her see it if she were curious — Loweia and Su Keke didn’t really get along.
Even though they had only met for the first time recently, Loweia had inexplicably become wary of Su Keke.
When Su Keke suggested that Bai Yu join her team, Loweia had immediately grabbed Bai Yu’s hem, not wanting her to join.
‘If Loweia noticed that Su Keke was still inviting me to join the team, the girl might not say anything, but she would definitely have some thoughts about it. She might get along even worse with Su Keke. Therefore, it’s better to avoid letting Loweia see anything related to Su Keke.’
Bai Yu opened the chat box with Mu Yue and held the phone in front of Loweia’s eyes.
“This is my boss from my previous job. She’s the one helping us prepare our new home. I was just about to ask how things are going.”
“I see.”
‘Was she just about to contact her boss?’
Loweia wondered.
‘But I clearly saw her tapping on the screen earlier. Who was she chatting with before contacting that boss?’
Of course, Loweia was just a little curious.
It wasn’t like she didn’t want Bai Yu to talk to other people or that she wanted Bai Yu’s eyes to be only on her.
‘Absolutely not.’
After all, they were just friends now; how could she restrict Bai Yu’s freedom?
However, after losing her memory, her knowledge of Bai Yu was limited to what she had learned during these few days together.
As for Bai Yu’s personal relationships, she knew nothing.
If possible, she wanted to know more about Bai Yu.
She wanted to know more about Bai Yu and everything about her.
But if she actually did that, it would probably trouble her.
After all, they weren’t lovers now.
As just a friend, she couldn’t peek into Bai Yu’s privacy.
Even though she desperately wanted to know who Bai Yu had contacted and what had been said, it was still Bai Yu’s private business.
‘If I just ask out loud, it will make Bai Yu sad, won’t it? Perhaps she’ll think I don’t trust her. A person as gentle as Bai Yu definitely wouldn’t show it; she would only smile and tell me, “It’s fine, if Wei Ya wants to know, it doesn’t matter.” But she would definitely be sad deep down.’
Thinking of this, Loweia shook her head.
Even though she really wanted to know, she ultimately held back.
After all, Bai Yu was right here.
Bai Yu was by her side.
They were the ones closest to each other.
Over the past few days, Bai Yu had taken her to many places in the Old Urban District and told her many stories about their past.
Although those stories felt so unfamiliar to Loweia — like listening to Bai Yu’s shared experiences with a stranger — it made her feel a little jealous of her past self.
But that was only her initial thought.
Her mindset had changed now.
‘Instead of clinging to the past, it’s better to focus on the present. I’ve been very happy spending time with her these past few days.’
She was also looking forward to starting a new life with Bai Yu in a new place and creating brand-new memories that belonged to just the two of them.
“So, did you find out anything, Bai Yu?”
Just then, Bai Yu finished drafting her message.
After clicking send, she sent the inquiry to Mu Yue.
“I just sent it out. We should probably wait a bit for a reply.”
Bai Yu placed the phone between the two of them, and they waited for Mu Yue’s reply together.
However, after waiting for a good while, there was still no response.
“It seems she’s probably busy right now and hasn’t noticed the message.”
Seeing this, Bai Yu didn’t plan to keep sitting there waiting.
“We’ve rested for a while. Wei Ya, let’s continue.”
“Mhm.”
And so, after resting for a while, the two of them stood up from the bench and continued their stroll.
It wasn’t until dusk that Bai Yu pulled a lingering Loweia back home.
Dinner was, naturally, prepared by Bai Yu at home.
However, even by then, Bai Yu still hadn’t received a reply from Mu Yue. ‘Strange, is she that busy over there?’
Recalling what Su Keke had said earlier, the Espers in the Management Bureau were indeed very busy lately.
Perhaps Mu Yue was working overtime at the moment and didn’t have time to look at her phone.
‘She should be able to reply by tonight.’
After dinner, Loweia took it upon herself to wash the dishes, while Bai Yu sat on the sofa browsing the recent news.
Everything was the same as usual; nothing new had happened.
There was no new news from Su Keke’s side either.
It seemed that only one member of the Star Eclipse Society had been sent over for now.
However, since that guy had died suddenly, the Star Eclipse Society might send more people to investigate.
When that happened, Su Keke might end up facing several members of the Star Eclipse Society.
Given her strength, there was no need to worry about her.
On the other hand, Bai Yu, who was with Loweia, needed to leave as soon as possible to avoid any members of the society suddenly showing up at their door.
She continued to wait for Mu Yue’s message, but even after Loweia went into the bathroom to shower, there was still no word.
‘Is she really that busy?’
Bai Yu put down her phone and looked toward the bathroom.
For the past two days, Loweia basically hadn’t called for her when she showered.
The girl showered on her own now and would only ask Bai Yu to help dry her hair afterward.
Loweia seemed to really enjoy the process of Bai Yu drying her hair.
Of course, after Bai Yu finished showering, Loweia would also offer to help dry her hair.
Although the girl’s skills were quite clumsy, Bai Yu, as a gentle lover, would naturally encourage her seeing how hard she worked.
Every time Loweia heard Bai Yu’s encouragement, she would be very happy.
Just then, the sudden ringing of her phone interrupted Bai Yu’s thoughts.
She subconsciously looked down at her phone; the caller ID showed it was Mu Yue.
“Sister Mu Yue, you’re so slow.”
“There were a lot of things today, and I’ve been in meetings the whole time. It couldn’t be helped.”
Mu Yue’s slightly tired voice came through the phone.
“Don’t worry, your residence has been arranged. It’s big enough; you’ll definitely be satisfied when you see it. I’ll send someone to help you move tomorrow. Just keep an eye on your phone.”
‘Tomorrow?’
For the current Bai Yu, the earlier they left, the better.
She didn’t want to stay here for a few more days and run into people from the Star Eclipse Society.
“Okay, I’ll keep an eye out tomorrow.”
“One more thing. During the meeting today, your matter was mentioned.”
‘Huh? Why was her business brought up?’
Perhaps the fact that she was still alive had alerted the higher-ups.
“Anyway, it’s nothing big. I just managed to secure a bonus for you.”
Oh.
“A bonus?”
‘Huh?’
Could a small fry like her — who had basically coasted through the entire ordeal, was completely useless, and had a record of 0/0/0 — actually receive a bonus?
In Bai Yu’s mind, she was just a piece of disposable material used for luck.
Like a lottery ticket; if you won, you’d keep it to redeem the prize, but if not, it naturally became waste paper to be thrown away.
While Bai Yu was still communicating with Mu Yue, a small gap was quietly opened in the bathroom door.
The white-haired girl poked her small head out and looked toward the living room.
She heard Bai Yu seemingly talking to an unfamiliar woman on the phone.
And judging by Bai Yu’s voice, she seemed very happy.
