On the rooftop, Cecilia stood still.
She gazed at the Demon Lord before her, the two locked eyes without a word for a long time.
In the history of hostility between humans and demons, the Saintess and the Demon Lord always seemed to be absolute polar opposites.
People often said the Saintess brought hope bestowed by the gods to humanity, while the Demon Lord brought endless darkness and terror.
No matter which culture you looked at, these two were seen as diametrically opposed.
However, in reality, such stark opposition was hardly realistic.
The Demon Lord is recognized by the Demon Lords as the supreme ruler among demons, and the gap in individual combat power between demons and humans is vast.
The Saintess is the pinnacle among humans, but among demons, she barely reaches the level of a Demon Lord herself.
Compared to the Demon Lord, the gap is simply enormous.
“Ah, isn’t this the noble Saintess?”
Lilith lifted her skirt and gracefully gave a slight bow.
“How was our Viya’s hospitality? Are you satisfied?”
“You are the Demon Lord, aren’t you?”
“Yes, I’m a little surprised the Saintess knows me.”
The Demon Lord’s voice was soft and sweet, almost bewitching.
She often used this tone, and most humans would hesitate instinctively when faced with such a delicate little girl’s voice.
“But it’s unusual you came to see me this time without the Hero or Knights.”
“If you mean to mock me, there’s no need. Demon Lord, I was indeed betrayed, but that doesn’t mean I’ll serve you. Did you make an appointment with Miss Viya in advance? Or is there something you want me to relay?”
The holy sword in Cecilia’s hand was now drawn, flames coursing along the blade, ready to burst forth at any moment.
A single Saintess could never kill the Demon Lord. Even slaying a Demon Lord was extremely difficult.
Historically, the Saintesses who succeeded in killing a Demon Lord did so with the Hero, the strongest swordsman, and the best warriors and experienced mages as their allies.
But Cecilia had no intention of letting this one inside.
Viya had told her to stay hidden inside the mansion to avoid any threat from the Demon Lord, but Cecilia knew the Demon Lord was already aware of her presence and that a face-to-face confrontation was inevitable.
Better to face the enemy head-on.
“Interesting… It seems Sister Viya has really trained you well.”
The Demon Lord smiled meaningfully, looking Cecilia over from head to toe.
Her words were pointed, and even the Saintess could detect the hidden meaning behind them.
“If you’ve come to Miss Viya’s residence just to toy with me, then please leave quickly.”
“Not at all. A Saintess, after all. There have been Saintesses who were killed or captured alive in demon history. If you have time, you could visit the Demon Lord Court’s basement. Among those Saintesses bound and tortured for so long, you might find some famous figures you’ve read about in your scriptures.”
In an instant, scorching flames formed a blade and slashed toward the Demon Lord’s head.
Lilith smiled and lifted a finger, lightly tapping forward.
The blazing flames vanished before her eyes.
“Your temper seems rougher than any Saintess I’ve met before. Hmm, quite lively. No wonder Sister Viya took you in. Such a little toy is really interesting.”
“Now, put away your weapon. I’m here only to discuss a few matters with Sister Viya, nothing like a reprimand or punishment—just a reminder. As for your fellow Saintesses, don’t worry. I’ve arranged the most fitting tasks for them. To you, it may seem like endless torment, but for the Saintess group, it’s merely returning to their true duty.”
“…What have you done to them?”
“Want to know? When you truly become one of us, gradually ascend to Demon Lord, and finally gain the approval of the Demon Lords to become the Demon Lord yourself, you’ll understand. But for now, I won’t share such classified matters with an outsider. Now then, Sister Viya’s loyal little bodyguard, will you kindly make way and let me in?”
The Demon Lord’s tone remained soft and adorable.
A little girl speaking so sweetly to her—Cecilia was almost fooled by the act.
The holy sword rose again.
“Stubborn, aren’t you.”
The Demon Lord sighed helplessly.
“I don’t want to kill anyone in Sister Viya’s mansion. But if necessary, I will act—even if you’re Sister Viya’s favorite toy.”
“Cecilia is my regent and my servant. Calling her a toy can at least be rephrased.”
Viya’s voice came from behind without her noticing.
She gently patted Cecilia’s shoulder and pulled her behind herself.
“Sister Viya~ Long time no see~”
“Mm, long time no see, Lilith.”
Viya gestured for Cecilia to sheath her weapon.
“So, what’s the reason for this ‘long time no see’ so soon after last time?”
“Oh, nothing much, just a little matter. Sister, you placed a curse mark on the Dark Elf Lord before. The Dark Elves are quite upset—you know how petty they are. You’ve thoroughly offended them.”
“And also, about the Blood Demon clan. Personally, I don’t mind, but my clansmen have come to complain lately, which is quite a headache. Sister, you can be a little harsh sometimes. After all, the Blood Demons are my kin.”
The Demon Lord’s tone was still lively and sunny, as if she didn’t care at all.
“I understand. I’ll be more careful in the future. Also, let me introduce Cecilia to you. This will be your first meeting. She’ll assist me with many matters within the demon realm.”
“She seems very reliable.”
The Demon Lord smiled warmly at Viya.
She raised her delicate hand and grabbed at something in the air.
Viya’s body suddenly stiffened.
Her eyes widened, her whole body trembling and tensing.
Blood gushed continuously from her nose, and the blood evaporated the moment it touched the ground.
“Senior!”
Cecilia realized something was wrong and immediately caught Viya in her arms.
Warm light surged up, allowing her to resist the sudden attack.
“Senior, are you alright?!”
Looking at the unconscious Viya, Cecilia raised her head, staring at the Demon Lord in disbelief.
The Demon Lord’s expression was still adorable, but that smile was now shrouded in darkness.
“Saintess, please do me a favor. After Sister Viya wakes up, relay this message for me:”
“Remember your place. Don’t keep bringing me unnecessary trouble.”
