In this world, various races exist. There are humans, elves, and half-elves who are a mix of both. There are also beastmen, covered in fur like wild animals that eat raw meat and drink blood, as well as the small halflings, and the fairies who possess immense individual differences within their race.
What needs to be explained now are the exceptional species—monsters, or rather, the dark races broadly categorized under the massive umbrella of ‘monsters,’ such as the familiar Ogres and Goblins.
“Humans, weak, me, Abuden, strong, I am King.”
Ogres are also known as Trolls. The Ogre standing before them was at least four meters tall. Adult Ogres of this race can even reach over five meters in height; they are a giant race renowned for their physical bodies, mostly having white-gray or blue-purple skin.
They wore various animal skins tied around their waists in the style of underpants or aprons, wielding thick tree trunks or animal bone clubs. The one in front was particularly skilled at using local materials, clutching half of a human body and splashing blood everywhere like a piece of modern ink art.
“King of the Lake, Gorigo, now, hiring! My men, good, but, no vacation!”
Although most Ogres are bloodthirsty and brutal, their brains are disproportionately small compared to their skulls, giving them the intelligence of a five-year-old at best. However, they are fearless and valiant in battle, which is why the Demon King Noel’s army always had them serve as both siege weapons and the vanguard.
Now, these Ogres had high-handedly occupied Heinrich, the lakeside castle that was one of the eight famous scenic spots of Monarch City. They had established their own territory and were grandly recruiting troops right in front of the true Queen of Noel.
“King! Feels great! King now, recruiting a Queen!”
“Hey! You on the city walls, hurry up and drive them away! Fire arrows! Cover! Expel the monsters! Hurry up and fire!”
“Captain, the arrows are being deflected! Those Ogres’ skins are too hard and tough; attacks from ordinary weapons don’t work at all!”
“Damn it, where is my Spark Lens!”
“Dammit, Gaia!”
In the distance, soldiers wearing leather armor covered with iron plates could be seen running around in panic beneath the city walls. Those were likely the guards of Heinrich Castle—the soldiers who guarded the tourist attractions, whose combat power could be categorized as security guards.
Erika walked forward, full of confusion, and asked one of the soldiers what was happening. “What’s going on? Why did this group of Ogres suddenly appear near this castle?”
The soldier who saw the young girl froze for a moment, then hurriedly said, “I don’t know either! In short, it’s very dangerous here, civilians please evacuate quickly! The knight Scate, who charged out to eliminate that Ogre, was just knocked down and met a tragic slaughter!”
Knight Scate—could it be the knight who was torn apart by the Ogre earlier?
One must know that those who obtain the title of knight in this world are very powerful. They grip and swing their swords day after day from a young age, and after countless training sessions and the tempering of actual combat, they eventually become war machines. This was the essence of a knight in the medieval period.
A powerful knight charging on horseback would find few opponents who could face them head-on; however, the Ogres were much stronger than them.
“Ahhh, help, help! Save me!”
“You, invaded Gorigo City, punishment is becoming my soldier, recruitment!”
“No, my two-day weekend!”
Erika immediately wore a look of intense discomfort. She had brought Evelyn here to let her enjoy the beautiful scenery and heal her psychological trauma, not to let her witness such a terrifying and harmful scene.
The guard captain shouted, “I have already sent someone to call the mages from the garrison point! Reinforcements will soon arrive from inside the city! Everyone hide far away, follow me! We’ll take a detour to enter the castle!”
Erika noticed the civilians behind her starting to push against her back, but at that moment, she spotted Evelyn slowly walking toward the city gate.
This was bad…
Flames soared into the sky, and arrows flew everywhere. Soldiers were setting up ladders to climb up and down, while Ogres, to whom the attacks were mere itches, swung massive tree trunks like baseball bats to destroy the city gates.
“Ahhh!” “Eek!”
After witnessing the strength of the Ogres, most of the soldiers could only scream and run for their lives. The thick smoke burning atop the walls, the wails of the injured, and the pungent smell of iron rust made one dizzy. It was truly an environment extremely detrimental to moral education and the nurturing of a young soul.
Thus, Erika could only ignore the guard captain’s warning and steel herself to step forward. “You Ogres over there! For what reason are you running amok here? How about we sit down and have a proper talk!”
“Gulu gulu! I tried talking nicely! But no one listened! Now I use force! Qua! You’re pretty! Want you for Queen!”
Then, it threw a stone that looked like a fragment of the city wall toward the retreating crowd. That size was just a pebble to an Ogre, but to the young girl, it was no different from a meteor.
“Whoosh!” The sound of breaking wind arrived, and the crowd grew even more panicked. Trampling incidents were particularly common in such situations. “Run!” “Waaah!”
The Ogres lunged toward the gap smashed into the city wall, swarming toward the crowd. The Ogre from before stared in Erika’s direction, sticking out its tongue and reaching out from a distance. Faced with such immense pressure, even the soldiers began to scatter and flee, but amidst the chaos, there was one powerful person who did not retreat a single step—
That was undoubtedly Evelyn.
Standing motionless, she was like a mountain blocking all threats. In that instant, the flying boulders halted in mid-air, as eerie as a paused game screen. Erika, who felt both relieved and plagued by a headache, knew better than anyone that this was Evelyn using Psychokinesis.
Knowing nothing of this, the Ogre’s already squashed face wrinkled even more. It kept throwing stones in that direction, roaring, “Stones! Are they broken?”
Naturally, nothing could touch Evelyn’s body. Even the dust merely accumulated in layers before eventually falling into the lake beside them, kicking up a massive spray of water. “Splash.” A rainbow arched into existence.
“I understand! The woman over there, is a mage. Mages, hate them! But, looks, quite pretty! Pretty and strong woman, can be Queen!”
It seemed the Ogres’ sense of beauty was not much different from humans’. Another useless bit of trivia.
Erika cupped her hands like a megaphone and shouted at the angry yet excited Ogre, “This person is no ordinary mage! This lady is the head of the Noel Council, the legitimate heir to the throne! The guardian of the Valkyrie Federation that rules five kingdoms and four duchies…”
“Too long!”
“This is the one and only legitimate Queen of Noel, Her Majesty Evelyn La Callista VIII! Hurry up and bow your heads in salute!”
Following Erika’s solemn shout, which sounded like an introductory announcement, the air here seemed to freeze instantly. The soldiers who were just making a racket and the army of Ogres that were roaring like angry beasts all temporarily stopped their movements. Their gazes turned toward the slender figure standing straight before the city gate.
“Puha, puhahaha.” The leader and seemingly most powerful Ogre, Gorigo, suddenly burst into laughter. “Noel has no Queen! Noel has only one King—the King of Oaths, Noel. The King of Noel once promised us, gave the Ogres a shore where we could rest, a land flowing with milk and honey.”
Gorigo trembled all over, his wrinkled face distorting further. “Here, is the Promised Land, the place where Noel made his promise, the home of the Ogres! Only I, Gorigor, came here. My clansmen, driven as slaves, all died.”
At the same time, Evelyn, who had been listening with half-closed eyes, let out a long nasal hum, “Hmph…” Watching this scene, Erika felt as if her hair was about to stand on end.
Denying her royal authority in front of the arrogant Queen Evelyn, and instead praising the authority of the fallen Demon King Noel? Soon, an enraged Evelyn would tear that Ogre to shreds, and having tasted the pleasure of bloodlust in that slaughter, Evelyn would ascend as “Blade Queen Evelyn,” and then… BAD ENDING!
Thinking of this, Erika could no longer remain calm. “You bastard, Noel kicked the bucket a long time ago!”
“King Noel, won’t die, he will return! For his abandoned kin, he will return, and rule everyone on the continent again!”
“Kuaaa—”
“That’s enough.”
