With her lips pressed tightly together, the Rapier in Ingrid’s hand turned into a streak of silver light, every precise thrust piercing straight through a Demon’s vital point.
She kept reminding herself that the duty of a Demon Hunter was to eliminate threats and protect the innocent, not to indulge in Victory Lust.
However, behind her, Huayin’s light laugh—crackling like bursting flames—along with that utterly relaxed, game-like hunting attitude, scratched at her heart like a feather.
“Ha! Looks like I’m going to win!”
Huayin’s slightly smug voice rang out again. Ingrid didn’t look back, but her fingers unconsciously tightened around the hilt.
Deep within her golden pupils, a restless surge began to rise.
Why… why did she have to act so proper and focused here, while that redhead could so shamelessly enjoy the battle?
Teacher Ange once said that the mission must always come first… But, if she just increased her efficiency a little, cleared out the Demons a bit faster, it shouldn’t really… count as breaking the rules, right?
Once that thought emerged, it couldn’t be put out.
She was no longer content with just precise and efficient strikes.
Her gaze swept over the remaining Demons in the room, her mind racing to figure out how to eliminate more enemies with fewer moves in less time.
That Victory Lust, suppressed for so long by reason, finally blazed forth within her heart.
Huayin, who had been watching her from the corner of her eye, sharply noticed the subtle shift in Ingrid’s aura.
Seeing that the golden-haired girl, though still wearing her usual stoic expression, had clearly picked up speed, her attacks now fiercer and more aggressive, Huayin’s lips curved in knowing amusement.
Heh, can’t keep up the prim act now, can you?
She chuckled softly, her Magic Wand spinning once more, as more Fireballs gathered and circled her like living spirits.
With a wave, she hurled them toward the densest cluster of Demons, unleashing a string of shrieks and explosions.
Only then did the remaining Demons snap out of their initial rage. A chill crawled up their spines.
These two women… weren’t helpless lambs who’d wandered into a den of wolves!
One of them was absurdly powerful, able to tear through their weapons and shells with that seemingly fragile Rapier; the other wielded flames like a natural disaster, turning them to charcoal with a wave.
This was nothing like the Demon Hunters in their memory—those who needed teamwork, tactics, and enchanted weapons just to hold them off!
In front of these two Fiends, these Demons from the Abyss were the ones left trembling and defenseless, just like frightened Humans!
“M-monsters! They’re the real monsters!” A Little Night Demon shrieked in despair.
At that moment, Ingrid took a deep breath, her golden eyes flaring—not with their usual clarity, but with a fierce and savage gleam.
Fine golden scales, like those of an ancient Behemoth, appeared beneath her skin, tracing along her cheeks and the backs of her hands like tattoos, as a heavy power began to surge through her slender body.
The blood of the mythical Behemoth roared within her veins.
The Rapier in her hand seemed to sense its master’s will; the blade buzzed softly, beginning to draw in the turbulent magic inside her.
Without hesitation, Ingrid drew a blue Demonic Crystal, radiating icy chill, from her Tactical Pack at her waist.
With practiced hands, she pressed it into a precisely-designed groove in the Rapier’s guard.
Click.
A soft sound. The Demonic Crystal fit perfectly. In the next instant, cold Frozen Mist spread from the blade, freezing the very air around it.
Her style of attack shifted at once. No longer did she target vital points with every strike—she simply stabbed forward, heedless of everything.
Clang!
A Little War Demon raised its heavy Bone Shield in a desperate block.
The Rapier struck the shield, not shattering it, but the bitter cold shot instantly through the contact point, freezing both shield and the Demonic Shieldbearer’s arm behind it into a solid block of ice in a single breath.
Ingrid didn’t even spare it a second glance. Twisting her waist, her long leg whipped out like a lash—a crisp, clean spinning kick, striking the frozen Demon square in the chest.
The block of ice shattered with a crack, the Demon trapped inside bursting into a shower of crystal shards.
Seeing Ingrid’s dominance in close combat, Huayin raised her brows, a competitive light flickering in her eyes.
“Heh, who can’t do melee combat?”
With a snort, she dismissed the Fireballs orbiting her, and deftly pressed several hidden buttons along the shaft of her Magic Wand.
A series of clicks. The smooth orb at the wand’s tip swiftly transformed, unfolding into a half-foot-long spearhead.
Huayin stretched out her right hand, brushing her fingertip along the icy blade.
In the next moment, a tangible, golden-red flame—seemingly eternal—enveloped the spearhead, distorting the air with heat.
She pointed the blazing Flame Lance to the floor, leaving a charred scar, then called out to Ingrid with a broad grin.
“Hey! Blondie! It’s no fun if you’re the only one playing!”
Before the words even faded, she turned into a red blur, charging into the Demon horde.
The Flame Lance swept in a wide arc—no Demon could withstand such heat, let alone block her.
In an instant, the top floor of the casino became a purgatory of ice and fire.
These two girls—meeting, cooperating, and taking on a mission together for the first time—were about to help their Teacher annihilate this Demonic den.
The Demons’ wails and pleas for mercy rang out endlessly, but nothing could shake the fierce light blazing in the eyes of the two young Demon Hunters—nor the hidden flames of Victory Lust burning within.
