Alright, just became the class representative and already turning against us.
Xi Ye stared at Huang Xiaoyi, and Huang Xiaoyi stared right back at her.
How did that saying go? When you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes back into you.
“Fine, go back to your seat.”
As soon as Xi Ye finished speaking, Huang Xiaoyi returned silently.
She had no intention of using class time to make things difficult for her. Anyway, after school at noon, she’d have plenty of chances. This was mainly out of a teacher’s duty to her students, and it had nothing to do with how Huang Xiaoyi treated her yesterday in various ways. Well, maybe just a little.
The morning class was still theory. The main topic was the structure of human society. Without those icy blue eyes staring from the back of the classroom, Xi Ye felt that even breathing during class was much easier.
“……Therefore, humans need to work. Now, speaking of work—”
After lecturing for the whole class, Xi Ye finally dropped the act and pulled out a thick stack of A4 papers from her bag, tossing them onto the podium:
“Xiaoyi, please hand out these forms.”
Under the students’ puzzled gazes, Xi Ye explained:
“You should all know our academy uses a credit system. If you want to graduate, you need enough credits. Besides regular attendance credits, you also need enough practical credits. This is your practical project for the next month—an internship.”
“Please fill out the form with the job you’d like to do. Once I collect them, I’ll assign your positions. The internship usually lasts two hours after school and some time on weekends, depending on what job you choose. Alright, start writing.”
She hadn’t even finished speaking when the classroom erupted in a chorus of complaints.
From the students’ perspective, Xi Ye could understand. If she were a student, and the teacher suddenly told her she couldn’t have fun after school and had to go to work instead, she’d protest too. Unfortunately, she was a teacher now.
Hehe… Time to let you little brats have a taste of the adult world!
This practical project was actually a spur-of-the-moment idea Xi Ye came up with last night, after seeing Huang Xiaoyi’s attitude. Xi Ye decided to make them work to understand how hard it is to earn money. The other students were simply dragged into it.
So, if you want to blame someone, blame your leader, Xi Ye thought silently, slapping the podium hard and saying loudly:
“What are you all talking about! Fill it out properly! Once you’re done, Xiaoyi will collect them. No talking, or you’ll have to stand outside!”
Off class, she could joke around with students, but during class, she needed enough authority to keep this group of mischievous monsters under control.
Not long after, Huang Xiaoyi had collected all the forms, and placed them on the podium. The stack was nearly as thick as the pile of homework, which showed just how many hadn’t done their assignments.
Xi Ye flashed a dangerous smile:
“School’s almost over. Is everyone hungry?”
“Hungry!” the students replied in unison.
“Hungry is good, hungry is good… hehe…”
Looking at the beautiful girl on the podium smiling, the seafoods all had a bad feeling. Last time she wore that expression was when she gave Kesusu a thorough lesson.
Xi Ye waved her jade-like hand:
“Those who finished their homework can go eat. If you haven’t finished, stay and finish it before eating. If you can’t finish, then don’t eat at all!”
Wails filled the classroom, but no one dared to curse. After all, their teacher’s “Sadist Queen” reputation was infamous throughout Arkham Academy. No one knew what kind of terrifying punishment awaited those who offended her.
“Any questions?” The black-haired girl clapped her hands and smiled, “If I hear one more word, I’ll double your homework!”
The classroom instantly fell silent. Those who hadn’t finished their homework buried their heads and scribbled away. For a while, only the sound of frantic writing could be heard until the bell rang, and the few who had finished their assignments left the classroom with Xi Ye’s nod, basking in the envy of their classmates as they strutted out.
Even after leaving, they circled by the window, waving and making faces at the hungry students left inside.
“If you don’t get out now, you’ll be staying to keep them company.”
Xi Ye stood at the door like a lioness guarding her territory. The proud eels from earlier immediately turned into dejected ones and scattered like birds and beasts.
Back at the podium, an unexpected person appeared—Kesusu walked up with eyes full of anticipation.
“Kesusu, did you finish your homework?” Xi Ye raised an eyebrow.
“Mm.”
Today, Kesusu was wearing the new outfit bought yesterday—a white knit top over a light blue dress. She looked like a blueberry-flavored cream cupcake, except with a few tentacles sticking out, swaying like a puppy’s tail.
So Cthulhu is actually a deep-sea puppy.
Xi Ye couldn’t help but think, but kept her face gentle as she said:
“Not bad, go ahead and eat.”
She was about to turn away when she noticed Kesusu hadn’t left, still staring up at her with those deep blue, star-like eyes.
What is this child expecting?
Xi Ye bent down and gently patted her head:
“What’s wrong?”
Kesusu rubbed her fluffy head against Xi Ye’s palm, then stuck out her pink tongue to lick her fingertips and whispered:
“……Reward.”
Xi Ye’s hand froze, and she pulled away with an indescribable smile:
“Kesusu, what kind of reward do you want?”
Kesusu moved closer, lifting her little face:
“Can I go to the rooftop…?”
Her voice was so soft only the two of them could hear.
“……I don’t mind what the teacher does to me.”
Xi Ye started sweating.
Bu Hao, my teaching license!
Although she didn’t actually have a license, since she wasn’t really a teacher, and Kesusu wasn’t really a student, and the Bureau even encouraged this sort of thing. After all, if you could tame an Outer God so thoroughly, that was a skill.
But, seeing Kesusu, who looked only about middle school age, act so needy, a mix of guilt and a strange excitement welled up inside her.
“No, Kesusu, that’s not right.” Xi Ye gently lectured her, “Those things are better done less often…”
Xi Ye felt like a complete scoundrel. Her words were so hypocritical. She was the one who trained her to be like this, and now she just washed her hands of it.
“Uuuu…”
Kesusu instantly deflated, looking pitiful, like a puppy with its tail drooping.
At that moment, Huang Xiaoyi had finished packing her bag and walked up to the podium with the forms in hand:
“Teacher, the forms…”
“Mm, just put them in the office, then wait for me there.”
After watching Huang Xiaoyi leave, Xi Ye decided to comfort Kesusu, so she said softly:
“Kesusu, do you want to be class president?”
Kesusu’s eyes lit up: “Class president? Yes, yes!”
Xi Ye nodded, let go of her “fishing” hand, and announced to the whole class:
“From today on, Kesusu will be our class president. Any objections?”
No one objected—no one would dare.
In the students’ eyes, Xi Ye and Kesusu together were like a pair of demon kings, fully capable of taking over the entire school.
