Seeing the Demons’ crimson eyes all lock onto her, their greedy and savage aura pressing down as though tangible, Ange made her choice—
“Get lost!”
She spat out coldly, suddenly lifting her leg and precisely kicking the backs of the three still-bewildered humans.
With startled cries, the three stumbled and tumbled into the just-opened Elevator Car.
Without even a glance, Ange slapped her palm onto the button for the First Floor.
As the furious roars of the Demons echoed out, the elevator doors swiftly closed, carrying those three lucky wretches downward.
“Damn it! That woman let our snacks get away!”
“How did she see through us?!”
“Idiot! Do you even need to ask? Nowadays, who else would barge into a place like this alone to meddle, other than those self-righteous Demon Hunters from the Academy?!”
The Demons grew agitated, their filthy words spewing like venom.
“Heh, but this chick’s got quite the look! That silver hair, those violet eyes… better than those celebrities on screen!”
“Get her alive! I’m gonna enjoy her for days!”
“And why should you go first? Finders keepers! After we’re done, offer her up to the bosses upstairs!”
Facing this stream of filth, enough to shatter an ordinary person’s mind, and the Demons closing in step by step, Ange’s reaction was utterly beyond their expectations.
It was as if she neither heard their words nor saw their twisted faces.
Unbothered, she simply walked over to the Embedded Freezer nearby, casually smashed the glass door with a single punch, and precisely took out a can of Canned Cola.
Hiss——
The gentle click of the tab echoed with startling clarity in the tense silence.
She tipped her head back and gulped down a large mouthful, the ice-cold liquid sliding down her throat.
At that, she faintly furrowed her silver eyebrows, muttering in dissatisfaction.
“Tsk, not cold enough. What a waste.”
This offhand, almost mocking gesture utterly ignited the Demons’ fury.
“You’re courting death!!”
A Warbrute Demon, still maintaining the disguise of a human gentleman, could hold back no longer.
Grinning viciously, he reached out a huge claw covered in scales, aiming straight for Ange’s ample chest, intending to deeply humiliate her before she died.
But in the end, he never touched Ange.
A flash of silver, swift beyond compare, swept upward like lightning in the night.
The Warbrute Demon’s movement froze, the vicious grin on his face solidified, then twisted into disbelief.
In the next moment, his massive head separated from his neck, sliding slowly along the smooth cut.
Scalding Demon blood gushed upward like a ruptured high-pressure hose, spraying a pillar several meters high.
And Ange, having unsheathed her blade, spun with effortless grace, elegantly avoiding every drop of spraying blood as if she were dancing.
She even had time to finish off the rest of the cola, and with casual accuracy, tossed the empty can into a distant trash bin.
Thud.
Only then did the headless corpse crash heavily to the ground.
Silence. A deathly silence.
“ROAR!!!”
Disguises were torn away completely! Piercing roars and the cracking of bones filled the second-floor lounge.
The Warbrute Demons, with dark red skin and bulging muscles, ripped apart their suits and hefted axes and greatswords the size of doors.
Misshapen Stalkers emerged from the shadows, their slick tentacles dripping with corrosive acid.
Nightfiends drifted about, flickering in and out of sight, their claws reflecting cold light under the lamps…
Dozens of Demons, all in their most primitive forms, surrounded Ange at the center.
The thick stench of beasts and all manner of body fluids quickly filled the space.
They had thought to see this woman’s face blanch with terror, collapse to her knees, beg for mercy, maybe even have a mental breakdown.
But Ange still stood there, wearing that infuriatingly indifferent expression, as if nothing could faze her.
She flicked imaginary blood from her Gunblade, her violet gaze sweeping over the horde—not as if facing a pack of brutal monsters from hell, but more like a group of… little punks blocking an alley, too dumb to realize they were courting death.
“Kill her!! Tear her to pieces!!”
The leading Warbrute Demon could no longer bear such contempt. With a deafening roar, he raised his giant axe, burning with Demonfire, and brought it crashing down at Ange’s head.
Facing a blow powerful enough to split steel, Ange didn’t even use her Gunblade to block.
She simply shifted to the side, letting the massive axe whistle past her nose and slam into the sturdy floor, gouging a deep, charred crack.
The moment the axe missed, Ange moved. Her left leg, which had hung naturally the whole time, shot upward like a spring.
At her heel, the compacted black firearm unfolded with a faint mechanical click, its muzzle snapping instantly to the Warbrute Demon’s forehead—barely inches away.
Bang.
A gunshot, not loud at all.
A Special Bullet engraved with Demon-slaying Runes spun out faster than the naked eye could follow, piercing the Warbrute Demon’s tough skull with ease and blasting a spray of filthy blood and brain matter from the back of his head.
His huge body trembled, then collapsed with a crash. The fierce light in the Demons’ eyes vanished in an instant.
Another comrade dead in a blink—the Demons’ inner savagery and frenzy burst forth.
They no longer cared about formation or tactics. Like a dam bursting, they swarmed forward from every direction with frenzied howls.
Blades, claws, acid, magic… all manner of attacks crashed toward that silver figure at the center.
Facing this tidal wave of madness, Ange finally drew a gentle breath.
With a flick of her hands, two Gunblades slipped from her sleeves into her palms—her left hand gripped normally, her right hand in reverse, wrists crossed before her chest.
Clang——
With a clear ring of steel, the blades of the Gunblades overlapped perfectly, forming a cold and sacred cross.
That symbol of the Symbol of Divine Will, representing the Academy’s highest recognition and the Supreme Glory of Demon Hunters—the Cross of Gunswords.
She lowered her body slightly, violet pupils contracting in the dim light like a predator before the hunt, the faintest trace of a smile at the corner of her lips.
“Come on.”
“I’m in a hurry.”
