At Qingzhou Airport, five hijackers turned themselves in under orders. All passengers and crew of Flight JK857 were safe and unharmed.
Most passengers looked at the police officers greeting them, completely bewildered.
Hearing the officers’ explanation, they finally realized the plane had been hijacked.
“So those five guys weren’t actors, but hijackers?”
“That’s right.”
The passengers exchanged glances, still shaken.
They were relieved they hadn’t encountered deranged terrorists, or the consequences would have been unthinkable.
“Everyone, gather in line for a routine identity check,” a female police officer said, clapping her hands to gather all the passengers to an isolated room.
As soon as she heard about the ID check, Chen Xiaoyan immediately became nervous.
After all, she was currently an undocumented person. The only reason she could board the plane was because Mu Qingxue had covered for her by purchasing high-priced tickets that skipped inspection.
Now, the police were going to cross-check the passenger list to see if anyone was missing, requiring everyone to present their ID.
But she didn’t have a female ID now, only a male one. That would definitely not pass. If the officers became suspicious and investigated, she would be done for.
What to do now?
Chen Xiaoyan clenched her hands, looking anxiously at the isolation room as passengers walked out one by one with smiles, holding their IDs.
The entire plane, including crew, the captain and co-pilot—over two hundred people—went through one by one, and soon it was her turn.
“I need to use the restroom,” Chen Xiaoyan said, quickly making an excuse and leaving the line just as she was a few people away from being checked. She jogged to the airport restroom.
The few police officers on duty kept their eyes on her, putting great psychological pressure on Chen Xiaoyan.
She was terrified that at any moment, they would drag her to the station for questioning.
Old Dong also noticed that Chen Xiaoyan seemed a bit flustered. At first, he thought it was just residual shock from the hijacking, but the more he watched, the more wrong it felt.
This Miss Chen seemed very afraid of the police.
Could she have a criminal record?
If not, why was she afraid of the officers?
Old Dong thought briefly and immediately decided to follow her. He would wait for Chen Xiaoyan to come out and ask if she needed help.
“Old Yao,” he whispered a few instructions beside Old Yao’s ear. The latter nodded repeatedly and walked up to the police officer on duty. “Hello, officer. We are employees of Mu Corporation’s security company. Here is my work ID.”
“Security” was the official term; privately, they were called bodyguards.
The officer who took Old Yao’s work ID was also knowledgeable. After glancing at it, he said seriously, “Hello, may I help you?”
“Our young miss was severely frightened by the hijacking and is now in a daze. She urgently needs a psychologist.”
“Here is my work ID,” Old Dong said as he approached, giving Old Yao a look, and handed his own ID to the officer.
Old Yao nodded and immediately turned to head toward the restroom.
Although the five hijackers were already in police custody, that didn’t mean Qin Wushuang wouldn’t have left a backup plan. They had to be cautious.
The officer looked at Old Dong’s and Old Yao’s work IDs and naturally realized these two were bodyguards—part of a group not to be trifled with—so he didn’t make things difficult for them.
The hijacking had already been resolved, and the criminals were caught. It had little to do with these passengers.
The reason for checking IDs was merely to prevent any missing persons.
“Do you have your tickets?”
“Yes,” Old Dong said, pulling three tickets from the pocket of his beach shorts and handing them over.
The officer took out his phone, scanned the tickets a couple of times, then returned them with a smile. “You can go now. Remember to refund your tickets at the airport, or the money will be wasted.”
“Thank you for the reminder, officer.”
Old Dong pocketed the tickets and also followed Old Yao to the restroom.
“Team Leader Lin, what’s with them? They actually made you look so serious?” The other officers noticed their boss’s stern expression and gathered to ask.
Lin Zhengxu ignored them, gazing toward the restroom and sighing in admiration a couple of times.
“No wonder she had such good bearing—so she’s a rich beauty.”
“What rich beauty?”
Lin Zhengxu snapped back to reality at the sound, and turned to see a head leaning in close, also staring toward the restroom.
His face darkened, and he smacked the guy’s head. “Nothing to do? Want me to find you something?”
“No, no, Team Leader Lin, you continue, continue.”
The other officers quickly dispersed and returned to their posts.
Inside the restroom, Chen Xiaoyan washed her hands and looked at herself in the mirror. Her delicate brows were furrowed so tightly they could crush a fly.
What should she do next to evade the check?
She ran through many methods in her mind, but all had risks.
“I didn’t expect hijackers in our Huaguo. It’s terrifying.”
“Tell me about it.”
“I heard public security is good abroad — people don’t pick up lost items. I wonder if it’s true.”
“If you want to know so badly, go abroad.”
“I don’t want to.”
Two young girls entered the restroom together. When they saw Chen Xiaoyan standing at the sink, they were struck as if by lightning and froze.
But they quickly recovered.
The two, who had been chattering away, fell silent and went to other sinks, taking out their bags to do makeup.
Every few seconds, they couldn’t help stealing a glance. Chen Xiaoyan’s unique aura made it impossible not to look.
Chen Xiaoyan paid no attention to the two girls. Her mind was entirely on how to evade the check.
After much thought, there was no perfect method.
She sighed and gave up. Shaking the water off her hands, she turned and left the restroom.
The moment Chen Xiaoyan left, the two started chattering again.
“Who was that? She’s so beautiful. I have zero confidence standing next to her. And her aura is top-notch. Hey, do you think she’s a big star? Her skin is amazing.”
“I don’t know. Stars probably don’t have such dazzling auras.”
“I think so too. Probably a daughter from a wealthy family. Definitely not an ordinary person.”
“Why care so much? It’s none of our business.”
“True.”
Chen Xiaoyan stepped out of the restroom, lost in thought, when a little girl came running in a hurry and nearly collided with her. Luckily, she dodged quickly and barely avoided the collision.
Then she glared coldly at the careless little girl and snapped, “Don’t you watch where you’re going?”
“Sorry, sorry,” the little girl said, clasping her hands together and apologizing repeatedly.
“It’s fine.”
“Miss Chen.”
Chen Xiaoyan turned and saw that it was bodyguard Old Yao.
“Why are you here?”
“Old Dong talked with the police. We don’t have to wait for the check. Should we go back to the community or buy new tickets to Kyo City?”
“Buy new tickets,” Chen Xiaoyan said without hesitation. She had no intention of going back. Liu Yue’s situation was urgent, and if she delayed any longer, it would be bad for everyone.
“Oh, Miss Chen, there’s one more thing I need to tell you.” As he spoke, Old Yao suddenly stopped and glanced sharply at the little girl behind her.
“Sorry to interrupt,” the little girl said, feeling a sudden inexplicable fear from Old Yao’s stare. She shrank her neck and quickly ran into the restroom.
