“Captain Mu, stop this.”
Mu Qingxin’s gaze was so venomous it could practically kill, his aura from his Evolution 6 rank rising continuously around him.
“If you still recognize me as your captain today, you might still have a chance to live.”
Liu Qing gave a self-deprecating smile and replied, “I call you ‘captain’ because I hope you’ll change your mind, not because I have any intention of conspiring with you.”
Mu Qingxin clenched one hand toward the truck, and multiple layers of Black Barriers instantly surrounded it.
“In that case, die!”
Mu Qingxin lunged forward.
The physical attributes granted by Evolution 6 were utterly overwhelming; with a sudden burst of punches and kicks, he sent Liu Yao flying in the blink of an eye.
Simultaneously, he reached out toward the air behind Liu Yao.
A Black Barrier manifested again, leaving her no room to retreat or dissipate the force of the blow.
Liu Yao felt as though her body were falling apart.
The blood-colored light flowing over her immediately dimmed.
“Mu Qingxin, you can’t kill me with just this.”
Mu Qingxin’s killing intent intensified.
Barrier after barrier surged toward Liu Yao, threatening to crush her into nothingness on the spot.
Liu Yao took a deep breath as memories of Mu Qingxin from the past surfaced in her mind.
“Captain Mu, I’m Liu Yao. I hope to learn a lot from you in the future.”
“Little Liu, you’re new here and not yet familiar with how things work.
Our Nanjiang Twilight Audit Team might not compare to where you were before, but things are much more relaxed here.”
Liu Yao had remained serious. “Yes, sir!”
“Tell me, Little Liu, what do you think of our Blood Race’s current situation?”
“It’s quite good. The authorities haven’t just given us identities; they even provide us with Blood Plasma.”
“Then have you ever thought about the members of the Blood Race other than us?”
Liu Yao had hesitated slightly before speaking.
“At least they’re still alive?”
“You’re right; they’re alive. But is this really the way they want to live?”
“But if they aren’t controlled, they would jeopardize social stability!”
Mu Qingxin had sneered with contempt.
“Social stability? For the sake of their stability, must we live with our heads bowed?”
“Captain Mu, we’re different. We —”
Before she could finish, Mu Qingxin had interrupted.
“Little Liu, go back. I’ll arrange for someone to help you get settled.”
“Captain —”
“Get out.”
His eyes had been cold, and he said nothing more.
“Yes, sir.”
The memory snapped shut.
At the time, she hadn’t thought much of it, but looking back, Mu Qingxin might have been planning this for a long time.
Liu Yao concentrated all the light in her body into her hands.
She was no longer who she used to be.
Although she understood a lot about the Blood Race’s plight, she firmly believed that sovereignty should not be fought for in this manner.
As a barrier closed in, Liu Yao knew she had no way to retreat.
She threw a punch with total resolve.
The sound of shattering echoed in her ears, but another barrier followed immediately.
Before she could even swing her fist again, she was squeezed between two of the barriers.
She grit her teeth, her survival instinct triggering her final potential.
Her **[Strength]** Talent was pushed to the absolute limit, and the blood-colored light gradually shifted toward a deep scarlet.
She braced herself firmly against the two Black Barriers, and the gap between them began to widen inch by inch.
“Open up!”
Exerting every last ounce of her strength, she pushed the barrier in front of her away before collapsing weakly to one knee.
A hint of admiration flashed in Mu Qingxin’s eyes.
As expected of someone who had awakened the **[Strength]** Talent.
He had wanted to keep such a talent by his side from the start, but she had consistently refused to follow his ideology.
“Liu Yao, I truly admire you. Why can’t you join me in creating a kingdom that belongs solely to the Blood Race?”
Liu Yao mocked him.
“Mu Qingxin, do you really think you can succeed?”
Mu Qingxin didn’t argue.
Instead, he said, “I might not be able to do it alone. But what if a powerhouse at Evolution 9 decided to stand with us?”
“You’re dreaming.”
Seeing that she remained stubborn, Mu Qingxin lost his remaining patience.
He sighed.
“I gave you chances — more than once.”
As soon as the words left his mouth, Mu Qingxin appeared before Liu Yao and stepped on her face, grinding his foot down repeatedly.
Her head was forced halfway into the dirt, and blood flowed uncontrollably from her eyes, ears, nose, and mouth.
The gap in their raw power was a chasm that no amount of effort could bridge.
Just as Liu Yao closed her eyes to accept her end, Mu Qingxin pulled his foot back and looked toward the sky with a grave expression.
He felt an overwhelming, oppressive aura approaching.
As the pressure intensified, a black shadow appeared before him.
Mu Qingxin raised one hand toward the sky, summoning a Black Barrier exactly where the shadow was falling.
The moment the shadow touched it, the barrier began to melt away like a snowflake.
His brow furrowed.
Unwilling to give up, he released another barrier, only for it to vanish without warning just like the previous one.
He couldn’t help but wonder what that thing was.
Since the shadow’s descent didn’t slow down at all, Mu Qingxin finally noticed something unusual through the clouds of dust kicked up by the impact.
Flashes of blue light flickered erratically within the haze.
When the dust finally settled, a figure was lying flat on the ground.
Mu Qingxin approached cautiously.
He watched as the figure’s arms hung loosely while its torso slowly straightened from a deep backbend.
In the next instant, a strange phenomenon occurred — the figure vanished into thin air.
The gravity on Mu Qingxin’s face didn’t lessen; it intensified. He couldn’t see the other’s form, yet he could feel their aura everywhere around him.
Liu Yao forced herself to stand, haphazardly wiping the blood from her face. Her lips curled into a smirk.
“Mu Qingxin, it looks like you’re the one who won’t be leaving today!”
Suddenly, Shen Ji appeared directly above Mu Qingxin.
His eyes were completely consumed by flowing blue light, and his body drifted through the air in an incredibly eerie posture.
Mu Qingxin raised his hand and blasted a barrier toward him, but the moment it got close to Shen Ji, it lost its effect just like before.
In the air, the unconscious Shen Ji seemed to sense the other’s hostility.
Azure Flames instantly erupted around his body.
Shen Ji shaped one hand into a palm and reached out to crush Mu Qingxin, his hand wreathed in fire.
Mu Qingxin clicked his tongue and dodged, leaving only splatters of flames on the ground.
Finding his strike had missed, Shen Ji stomped on the ground in dissatisfaction, causing the flames that had hit the earth to splash upward again.
Looking at the flames suspended in mid-air, Mu Qingxin murmured to himself, “Is this the Evolution 3 of a King Seed?”
Shen Ji waved both hands toward Mu Qingxin.
The splashing flames seemed to take on a life of their own, coiling together to form a single entity before finally transforming into a blazing pillar of fire that roared forward.
Mu Qingxin stood ready.
Black Barriers rose from beneath his feet, covering his body inch by inch until they formed a set of Black Armor, leaving only his crimson eyes visible.
