Manager Wang felt his scalp was about to explode when he received the call.
Damn it, that brat Chen Siye! Instead of treating our big spender like royalty, what’s he trying to pull with this diva act?!
He flagged down a taxi and rushed to Drunken Deer as fast as possible, frantically dialing Siya’s number.
The first time, no answer.
The second time, it rang seven or eight times.
Just as Manager Wang was about to lose all hope, the call finally connected.
On the other end, Chen Siye’s lazy voice drifted over, sounding as if he’d just woken up.
“My ancestor! You’re still sleeping?! Do you even know what time it is now!”
Manager Wang felt the vein on his forehead throbbing, “Miss Su has been waiting for you at [Midsummer Night] for almost an hour! She just threw a huge fit in the club and even smashed a bottle of Heitao A!”
There was a two-second silence on the other end, then a nonchalant yawn.
“Oh…her.” Not a trace of anxiety in Chen Siye’s voice. “Why so anxious, Manager Wang? What’s wrong with letting her wait a bit?”
“What’s wrong?! You ask me what’s wrong?!”
Manager Wang was so agitated he was about to spit blood, “That’s Su Jin! Eldest Miss of the Su Family! Our club’s biggest VIP! Did you forget who helped you get where you are now?!”
“I didn’t forget.” Chen Siye gave a soft chuckle, “That’s exactly why she just… can’t do without me, right?”
His tone was as if everything was within his grasp.
“Her temper, when it flares up, is quite scary.” Chen Siye drawled lazily, “She’s just throwing a tantrum at me for not coming at her beck and call, that’s all. It’s nothing.”
“Oh right, that bottle of Heitao A she smashed—can that count towards my sales performance?” he laughed lightly.
“You…!” Manager Wang was so infuriated by his words that his chest tightened.
“Siya! Listen to me, she just dragged a new guy into the private room downstairs. What if your position gets threatened? We can’t afford to lose this client!”
“Heh.” Siya snorted, utterly unconcerned, “A new guy? Just a prop she grabbed while angry.
“Don’t worry, Manager Wang, it’s all in my plan. Once I ignore her for a bit, she’ll come running back to me. And then she’ll only be more willing to spend money on me. I understand women’s minds better than you do. Just wait and see.”
“But that person……”
“What about him?”
Siya cut him off, sounding a bit impatient, “At ‘Drunken’, no one can shake my position. Some clueless newcomer wants to steal Su Jin away? Dream on! She’s just after something fresh. Once she gets bored, she’ll toss him aside.”
Having said that, he clearly didn’t want to discuss it any further and hung up the call directly.
“You—!”
Manager Wang wanted to curse, but couldn’t. Chen Siye was their top host, the club’s Mascot of Fortune. He couldn’t afford to scold him.
Headache on both sides, with the young miss and the young master… Am I some housekeeper in a novel?
***
A moment later, Manager Wang arrived at Drunken Deer and stood outside the [Midsummer Night] private room. He took several deep breaths before barely calming the raging storm in his chest.
No matter what, even if Chen Siye refused to apologize, as manager he still had to do his part—he had to go and apologize to Miss Su Jin.
Manager Wang straightened his crooked tie, put on a professional smile, and gently knocked on the door.
“Knock knock knock.”
There was no immediate response from inside, only the faint sound of music flowing out.
Manager Wang frowned. Had Miss Su Jin already left?
“Knock knock knock……” He knocked softly again.
After a few seconds, a soft, syrupy voice came from inside, “Come……come in!”
Manager Wang carefully pushed open the door.
A rich scent of alcohol hit him in the face. The lighting in the private room was still dim, but the scene before his eyes made his pupils contract.
Scattered across the coffee table and carpet were several toppled bottles.
Empty bottles of Scotch Whisky, a nearly-finished bottle of golden Cognac, and a bottle of Heitao A lying on its side—a true picture of chaos.
Su Jin was reclining sideways on the U-shaped sofa, cheeks flushed and gaze hazy, her usually immaculate long curls now messily strewn over her shoulders.
She was loosely holding a half-full glass in her hand, clearly well past tipsy.
Meanwhile, Lin Luan sat properly at the other end of the sofa, keeping his distance from Su Jin, still dressed in that shirt and trousers.
Manager Wang’s gaze swept over the empty bottles and then to Lin Luan, his heart pounding.
This newcomer… managed to drink Miss Su Jin under the table?!
And all this alcohol—none of it cheap! Did Su Jin just order up the entire top shelf?
He quickly stepped forward, bowed deeply, and spoke as humbly as possible, “Miss Su, I apologize! It’s my poor management that let Siya’s thoughtlessness upset you! Please don’t let it affect your health, I…”
“Shut up.”
Su Jin cut him off lazily, glancing at him with bleary eyes, then raised the hand holding her glass.
“Manager Wang… you, you came at the right time.” She gave a tiny drunken hiccup, her words a little slurred, “These… were all ordered by me.
Her hand waved a bit, finally pointing toward Lin Luan.
“Tonight… his sales! Count… count all of them under his name! Got it?”
Manager Wang’s head snapped up, disbelief in his eyes as he looked from Lin Luan to the empty bottles and quickly calculated the total.
That commission… For a newcomer—no, for any host, it was an astonishing amount!
Lin Luan was stunned too, opening his mouth.
“Miss Su, I…”
…All this alcohol, it was…
“Did you hear me!” Su Jin didn’t let him finish, raising her voice and repeating herself. Though drunk, the aura of a lady of the house was still there.
Manager Wang shuddered and immediately bowed again, “Yes, yes! Rest assured, Miss Su! I’ll follow your instructions! All sales will go under this… this gentleman’s name!”
He didn’t even know Lin Luan’s name yet.
Once he’d received the confirmation, Su Jin seemed to have finished an important task, her tense body relaxing.
She mumbled something no one could make out, and the glass slipped from her hand onto the carpet, spilling what little was left and leaving only a small stain.
She tilted her head, nestled against the soft sofa, and began to snore lightly, falling deeply asleep just like that.
The private room instantly fell quiet, only the gentle background music remaining as the two men stared at each other in silence.
Manager Wang looked at the sleeping Su Jin and let out a long sigh of relief—at least this little ancestor had been appeased, for now.
He immediately took out his walkie-talkie and quietly instructed the servers outside to come in and clean up, emphasizing not to disturb Miss Su’s rest.
Only after finishing all this did he cast a complicated look at the still-stunned Lin Luan.
“Manager Wang, I… if I said I only came to apply as a dishwasher, would you believe me?”
Manager Wang looked at the honest face practically shouting ‘I’m a good person,’ and thought of Chen Siye’s arrogant, confident tone. His feelings were too complicated for words.
He patted Lin Luan’s shoulder and sighed,
“Kid…some things, maybe you don’t get a say in.”
