The Township Waiter carefully sized up the white-clad woman before him.
She was stunningly beautiful, yet she carried a blind disabled child on her back.
Such a pairing was quite rare in everyday life.
“Put me down!” Jiang Che whispered anxiously on Lin Yin’s back.
This was a matter of pride, but Lin Yin remained unmoved.
“Township Waiter, do you still have any rooms? Please prepare two for us.”
“Right away, honored guests!”
The Township Waiter handed the dishes on his tray to the guests who had just called out, then quickly put down the tray and moved to the front desk.
He opened the ledger to check the room availability for the day, glancing up occasionally at Lin Yin.
Lin Yin’s eyes flicked, scanning the Township Waiter. “What are you looking at?”
The Township Waiter was startled and hurriedly said, “S-sorry, honored guest, but do you really need two rooms? That young master on your back must require a lot of care.”
Having worked here for years, the Township Waiter was adept at reading guests’ needs through subtle observation.
Lin Yin’s appearance and demeanor didn’t resemble a mother’s, nor an elder sister’s.
Perhaps she had only just started caring for the child and overlooked that detail, so the Township Waiter gently reminded her.
Lin Yin realized her oversight and felt a twinge of regret.
She intended to care for Jiang Che at all times but had neglected the sleeping arrangements, still holding to the adult concept of separate rooms.
“Thank you. Then please change it to one room. Just one Tianzi Number One Room will do.”
“No! Two rooms! I want my own room!” Jiang Che protested immediately, displeased.
He hadn’t expected the front desk to play such an unexpected role in this drama.
No way was he sharing a room with Lin Yin.
He gripped her clothes tightly, as if clutching the last shred of his dignity.
“Che’er, be obedient. Stay in the same room with your master. That way, I can take good care of you.”
The Township Waiter watched the scene with amusement.
So they were master and disciple. It seemed this woman was a Scattered Cultivator who had picked up this poor child somewhere during her travels.
Ah, such a young age and already blind—it was truly pitiable.
The Township Waiter smoothly retrieved a door plaque from the cabinet and made a note in the book.
Meanwhile, Jiang Che continued struggling, pinching Lin Yin’s shoulder.
“Hey! Give me a separate room. I can take care of myself! Otherwise, I’ll sleep on the street!”
Jiang Che tried to keep his voice low, his face flushed with urgency.
As an ordinary person, resisting these cultivators was deadly serious.
Though Jiang Che’s voice was low, the Township Waiter caught bits and pieces and just chalked it up to a spoiled child making threats.
If Jiang Che seriously chose to sleep on the street, he would probably end up obediently staying in the same room with his master.
But Lin Yin’s reaction was different.
She instantly realized Jiang Che was serious. She had imagined before where Jiang Che would sleep if he had nowhere else to go.
Sleeping rough on the streets was likely a routine for him.
A pang of sadness gripped her heart, leaving her speechless as Jiang Che pinched her.
Around them, diners continued eating, some also watching with interest.
The master and disciple pair seemed quite entertaining.
One burly, bald middle-aged man jokingly shouted, “Kid, just listen to your master! Maybe you’ll even get to drink milk, haha!”
“Old Meng! You talk too much. Eat your Qiankun Chicken! Ordered two and a half and still can’t shut your mouth!”
Next to Old Meng sat a moderately well-built man, whose tone was much more pleasant than the bald man’s.
Old Meng’s tone sounded like the kind of person who liked to joke with strangers on the street without a care.
People like that entertained themselves well but were rarely liked by others.
The surrounding onlookers laughed at the banter.
This made the Township Waiter’s expression sour.
This was Shenxiao Town under the Shenxiao Sect.
If you picked ten random people here, probably five would be cultivators.
And the bald guy who just spoke? In his impression, he was a Foundation Establishment Stage Scattered Cultivator.
If this guy caused trouble in his inn, his small stature wouldn’t be able to stop him.
But the Boss had already sent him home to rest.
Damn Boss!!!
“Honored guest, let me show you the room first! Our Tianzi Number One Room is top-notch! It can comfortably fit two or three people without issue. Plus, the decor is cozy. Many dual-cultivator couples… oh no, many parents and children really like it.”
“That’s fine, but wait for me a moment.”
Lin Yin agreed, but first carefully set Jiang Che down beside a seat.
She gently helped him sit.
Then she quietly walked over to the bald man who had been joking around—Old Meng’s side.
“You should apologize to my disciple for your rudeness.”
Hearing this, Old Meng touched his shiny bald head, looking Lin Yin up and down with some puzzlement.
He had just been thinking about what this woman wanted by approaching them.
Apologize? Was it really necessary to joke with a kid like that?
They were dull people who lived day to day, having a little fun to amuse themselves—what’s the big deal?
Old Meng grinned, showing his yellow teeth, doubting his own hearing.
“Didn’t hear wrong, right? You want me to apologize to that little blind kid? He’s just a brat; what does he know? I was joking to have some fun. How’s that bothering him?”
The more composed companion opposite Old Meng opened his mouth to intervene, but it was too late.
Old Meng had already spoken. Facing his burly Ti Cultivator friend, whose brain was probably no bigger than a walnut, kicking a metal board might be better for him.
Thinking this, the companion silently moved his chair further away.
“Apologize!”
“Who do you think you are!”
Old Meng was about to explode, his muscles bulging and fury rising.
“Let me…”
Old Meng attempted to stand, trying to use his massive muscles to intimidate them, but before his butt left the chair, a powerful force pressed his head down hard.
His huge bald head was firmly grabbed by a seemingly frail hand!
Then, with lightning speed beyond his reaction, his head was slammed fiercely onto the solid wooden table!
With a crisp crack, the thick wooden table shattered like paper, splinters flying everywhere!
Yet, the broken surface provided no cushioning or resistance whatsoever!
Old Meng’s face twisted in shock and terror, carried by the terrifying downward force, passed straight through the splintered wood and crashed heavily onto the floor.
The next moment, the hard floor beneath seemed to turn to tofu, sinking sharply at the impact point, forming a deep pit.
Lin Yin stood up, clapping her hands softly. She found the feeling of flattening him incredibly satisfying, especially since she was still holding back with her Refining Void Stage cultivation.
“Show me the rooms now.”
“(⊙o⊙)…Uh, right this way, honored guests~”
Lin Yin, with Jiang Che, followed the Township Waiter upstairs.
Downstairs, the well-built man walked over to his companion, barely able to hide a smile.
“Told you not to blab. Now look at you, in deep trouble.”
Old Meng’s face was pressed firmly into the floor as his trembling hand rose.
“Boss… You should’ve said something sooner. Dealing with women… isn’t that usually your specialty?”
“Heh, that depends on what kind of woman it is.”
