“I’ve long told Simon we should have dealt with you earlier—keeping you around is just asking for trouble,” Xueyuedai said with a cruel smile. “But it seems it’s not too late now.”
Bai Yuge stepped forward, placing herself between Feini and Xueyuedai.
“You really think this transfer student can protect you?” Xueyuedai challenged.
“I’m now an official God and Demon Academy apprentice, under the Academy’s protection.” Feini proudly took out two identical Contracts of Gods and Demons.
“You really think those Contracts will keep you safe?” Xueyuedai sneered even more disdainfully.
“I thought your intelligence would let you see the details at a glance, but now I see you’re just a foolish great demon after all,” Feini laughed.
“…What do you mean by that?” Xueyuedai’s expression darkened.
As a beast of wisdom, she hated nothing more than having her intelligence questioned—especially by a mere terrifying-level demon beast.
“I’m just a terrifying-level demon beast, yet I now hold the same official Contract as you. Do you understand what that means?” Feini said calmly.
“Are you mocking my intelligence?” Xueyuedai shot back.
“If you can’t figure it out, let me tell you: your backing is noble bloodlines and powerful families, while mine is the Nameless Witch. Let me tell you, I’m a precious research specimen for the Nameless Witch. Go ahead and try to lay a finger on me,” Feini smiled.
“…” Xueyuedai’s red eyes opened coldly, staring mercilessly at Feini.
Feini didn’t flinch, locking eyes with her deep, pitch-black pupils, a playful and proud smile on her face.
“Alright, alright, I have to take your threat seriously. You won’t be happy for long,” Xueyuedai reined in her killing intent and returned to her wise smile. “Because soon comes the Extracurricular Hunt.”
With that, she turned around cheerfully and left with the tea party club members.
—————
After dawdling for so long, Feini and Bai Yuge finally returned to the hidden wooden cabin tucked away in a corner of the dormitory area.
“What’s the Extracurricular Hunt?” Feini asked the Faceless Witch after coming back.
“It’s a large-scale midterm test prepared by the witches for demon beast apprentices,” the Faceless Witch replied. “You’ll leave the God and Demon Academy to enter a specially designed training ground outside for trials, hence the name Extracurricular Hunt.”
“I see.” Feini pondered silently.
Leaving the Academy for a brutal trial, when the witches’ supervision is weakest, is the best chance for revenge.
Now that she thought about it, there was indeed a similar segment in the game.
It was when the cute demon beast apprentices happily went on an outdoor trip, and the final storyline was just an excuse to show off some exciting scenes.
In her memory, the trial wasn’t dangerous at all—only eye candy and perks.
That left her, a transmigrator, without any useful strategies or ways to avoid danger. She could only hope for the best.
Luckily, she had a loyal and capable daughter by her side, no longer so passive like before.
“Xiao Bai, are you interested in Kendo?” Feini asked Bai Yuge.
“That’s the club where Qingshamu is. Are you asking me to keep an eye on her?” Bai Yuge asked.
“No, I mean, are you interested in swordsmanship? Although I know that girl is annoying, learning a few moves won’t hurt,” Feini reasoned. “Sitting in class learning liberal arts leads nowhere. Joining a club and picking up skills is the real deal.”
“Let me think about it,” Bai Yuge considered.
“I’m not forcing you. It’s your choice,” Feini smiled. “Let’s go see Xiao Hei.”
“Okay,” Bai Yuge nodded.
“You don’t have to be so stiff—we’re family.” Feini patted Bai Yuge’s shoulder, sensing her tension. Despite being just a few months old, she seemed stressed.
The mother and daughter went out to the yard where Black Dragon was curled up sleeping.
But calling it Black Dragon was now a bit inappropriate. Its massive body almost filled the yard, like a small mountain.
“This yard won’t hold it much longer,” the Faceless Witch floated over and said faintly. “But it’s learning fast; soon it’ll be able to take human form.”
“Aren’t you always stomping around angry at the little dragon?” Feini asked with a laugh.
“Sleeping through the day is frustrating, but for a baby only a few months old, its progress in intelligence is genius-level,” the Faceless Witch critiqued sharply.
“Thank you for helping take care of Xiao Hei,” Feini said gratefully. “Although I know you have your reasons, you did save our whole family.”
“Good to hear. Don’t mention it,” the Faceless Witch said, scratching her head shyly.
“Could you tell me more about the Extracurricular Hunt?” Feini asked. “I’m sure you don’t want me to go and never come back.”
“You’ll be sent to a vibrant, thriving forest full of life, where countless mindless giant demon beasts lurk. Your mission is to work together to hunt down these giant beasts, collect spoils, and earn credits. But don’t worry—the safety of the hunt is high. We’ll give you Teleportation Bottles that, when broken, can instantly bring you back to safety,” the Faceless Witch explained.
“Why not just break them as soon as we go in?” Feini complained.
“You won’t earn any credits, and you’ll be kicked out of the Academy—especially you, an inferior student,” the Faceless Witch said. “This large-scale event is the best chance to earn credits.”
“That’s even better—we want to go out and test ourselves,” Feini said.
“The current Demon Domain isn’t a place you’d want to roam freely. Northern Demon King Army, Southern Demon King Army, Heaven’s Wrath Knights, Undead Army, Judges of the Apocalypse… all kinds of ruthless and brutal factions occupy every corner. I think our God and Demon Academy is the most peaceful, righteous, and orderly place in the Demon Domain,” the Faceless Witch introduced.
“Sounds like self-praise to me,” Feini smiled.
“It’s just a fact,” the Faceless Witch said confidently.
“Could you teach Xiao Bai a few self-defense skills?” Feini asked.
“I’m a magician—how could I teach that?” the Faceless Witch retorted.
“True.” Feini patted Black Dragon’s head; its scales were smooth and shiny, well cared for.
“Wait, no,” the Faceless Witch suddenly realized something and floated over to Bai Yuge.
Bai Yuge gave the magic power entity a look of disdain.
“Hold out your hand,” the Faceless Witch said.
Bai Yuge glanced at Feini, who nodded, then reluctantly stretched out her hand.
The Faceless Witch channeled magic and drew a small magic circle on Bai Yuge’s hand.
Neither mother nor daughter knew what she was doing.
“Bzzzz~” The small magic circle suddenly lit up.
“What are you doing to my child?” Feini exclaimed.
“I didn’t do anything. She activated the magic circle herself. It’s a Detection Formation,” the Faceless Witch said seriously. “Your child can use magic—she’s a magician.”
