Speaking of this, Letia also felt a deep sense of powerlessness.
Although that disaster in her mind hadn’t provided a clear cause or process, based on what she had seen today at the Adventurer Guild, this was highly likely the source of it all.
She also felt a bit sentimental.
She thought that given Red’s calm mind, he would have chosen to reconcile with the other party at such a time instead of making things so tense with that greasy-faced President.
But as it turned out, Red didn’t give the man any face at all.
While it felt extremely satisfying, it also left almost no room for maneuver on their side.
Thinking of this, Letia couldn’t help but ask Red, who was still deep in thought.
“By the way, why did you listen to that guy and stand up back then?”
“The reason is actually quite simple…”
Red looked at Letia, who was still slumped in her chair, and let out a helpless sigh.
“People change. Just assume I couldn’t swallow my pride.”
“Oh? Does that mean you were planning to stand up for me?”
Although the President’s gaze hadn’t been very obvious, Letia could certainly feel the fleeting, greedy, and lecherous look in his eyes.
She didn’t really care, though.
After all, she had been subjected to such looks since she was a child.
However, of the people who actually tried to lay a hand on her, nine out of ten had their legs broken by her.
As for the remaining one, they were naturally smashed directly into the ground.
So, if that guy named Nicholas really wanted to pull any schemes against her… she wouldn’t mind planting him in the soil to let him grow all over again.
“In a way.”
Red didn’t deny it, only giving a faint nod.
“His gaze at the time was disgusting, so I stood up.”
“Is that so?”
Letia shifted her body, sitting up slightly as she looked at Red with narrowed eyes, her gaze carrying a playful hint of teasing.
“Are you being protective of your food?”
“What do you mean ‘also’…? And what’s with that ‘protective’ part?”
The corner of Red’s mouth twitched.
“But I truly was too angry to let it go. Otherwise, thinking from a rational perspective, ignoring him would have been the best choice.”
“Rationality… bah.”
Letia waved her hand dismissively.
“That might be the optimal solution, but to be honest… I don’t like it. So, I say well done.”
As she finished speaking, Letia gave Red a thumbs up.
Like a kindergarten teacher giving a child a gold star, she said with a grin, “Good boy, good boy.”
“What’s with that tone like you’re coaxing a child?”
“It’s just your imagination.”
Letia quickly pulled back her hand, then her expression turned serious as she continued.
“Also, regarding Otto, I’ve found a small clue.”
When she said this, Letia paid special attention to Red’s expression, only to find that his face paused for a brief moment before he near-perfectly hid his emotions again.
He responded calmly.
“Did you find where he is?”
“I’m not entirely sure where he is, but I’m quite clear about Ella—the Magical Doll who’s always by his side. She is currently hiding in some corner of Nightbright Town.”
Ella…
Hearing that name, Red’s brow furrowed slightly.
He had naturally not forgotten the Magical Doll he had created as a killer.
He had later considered whether he should make another one for research, but considering that this type of Magical Doll was completely out of his control, combined with the fact that he had only recently begun to emerge from his slump, he hadn’t put much more research into it.
Looking at it closely now, Ella… a Magical Doll with strength roughly equivalent to Liz’s, really did leave Red a bit puzzled.
It even led him to have certain doubts about his own abilities.
He wondered, ‘A Magical Doll stronger than the Creation Magician himself… this kind of thing isn’t even mentioned in the Creation Magician textbooks.’
Moreover, the fact that she wasn’t controlled by the Creation Magician was simply too absurd.
“It seems your emotions are indeed much more stable.”
Letia withdrew her scrutinizing gaze.
“I was worried you’d be in a frantic rush to search the streets for her.”
“How could that be?”
Red shook his head gently.
“You know, I’ve always been a very rational person.”
“But the other party has a face that looks exactly like Litt’s, right?”
Letia reminded him at this point.
“Her body was even molded after Litt’s. Logically speaking… shouldn’t your heart be racing?”
To be honest, Letia was quite worried that Red would use Ella as a substitute.
After all, the other girl looked ninety percent like Litt, and her personality was almost identical.
If it were her, she would probably find it hard to maintain her composure, let alone Red.
However, Red only gave Letia a faint glance and said, somewhat speechlessly, “When you say that… why don’t you look in a mirror? Haven’t you noticed that your own face is actually quite similar to Litt’s?”
Letia averted her gaze, trying her best not to let Red see her guilty expression.
“To be honest, when I first saw Litt, I really wondered if you had a sister who went missing, or if you were the missing younger sister.”
Red was well aware of Letia’s background: a Battle Priest from the Holy Tribunal with no kills to her name, and whose parents’ names and appearances were unknown.
Combined with the fact that she looked so much like Litt, it was hard not to think in that direction.
“It’s probably just a coincidence…”
“Is that so?”
Red didn’t pay too much attention to Letia’s words; he was thinking about something else.
In fact, for a long time now, he had found it quite strange where Letia’s intelligence and clues actually came from.
Even if she was a Battle Priest from the Holy Tribunal, she shouldn’t be able to find so much information.
Tos had only managed to get some peripheral clues by relying on his superb infiltration skills and significant financial power.
Yet, seeing Letia’s nonchalant manner, she likely knew much more.
It was unrealistic to obtain this information with infiltration skills alone.
Money and power—Letia had to have at least one.
He could certainly rule out money, as Red knew exactly how few pairs of panties this girl currently owned.
On the other hand… there was power.
But exactly what kind of power did Letia possess?
Red looked at this girl who was lazy to the extreme, acting like a slacker who wanted to be hand-fed, and he couldn’t imagine what kind of background she could possibly have.
Did being the queen of the local slackers count?
Red’s gaze flickered for a moment, but he didn’t voice his question to Letia.
Forget it.
No matter what, it was her private business.
If she truly wanted to tell him, she would have done so long ago.
And he… had no need to pry into her affairs.
As for whether he would lose his fascination with her if Letia really turned out to have some real power…
Truthfully, no.
Before, it was because of his various worries and hesitations regarding Litt’s identity that he hadn’t responded to her feelings until the very end.
That kind of thing… once is enough.
