Chapter 26: I’ll Take You to Meet My Parents

After resting briefly on the bench, Luna and the others left the amusement park.

Although they had some time to rest, Lusina was still very weak and had to be helped by her younger sister and Dai Lina in turns as they made their way out.

They hailed a taxi by the roadside, and thankfully, there were no more demon attacks along the way. The car quickly arrived at the gates of the Magic Academy.

“Lina, why don’t you come with us to see my parents?” Luna suddenly said to Dai Lina after helping Xiao Xi down from the car.

However, Dai Lina had been lost in thought and didn’t catch what Luna had just said.

“Huh? What did you say?”

Lina looked at her with a puzzled expression.

“Our parents are working in the Research Building, and they should still be there now. You can come with us.”

“Eh!? To see your parents?”

Dai Lina looked at her in surprise.

Seeing her reaction, Luna hurriedly added, “It’s just because Lusina is really weak. It’s tiring for me to support her alone, so I thought if you helped me, it would be easier. Is that okay?”

Considering Xiao Xi’s current frail state, Luna wanted her to stay a little longer and help support Lusina.

Dai Lina didn’t hesitate to agree to this request.

“Sure.”

Since she was already at the Academy and temporarily out of danger, she figured there was no harm in staying with Xiao Xi and the others.

They helped Xiao Xi onto the school bus, which then headed toward the Research Building where their parents worked…

Soon, the car stopped in front of the Research Building. With Luna and Dai Lina taking turns to support her, Xiao Xi finally reached the place where their parents were.

“Xiao Xi!? What happened!?”

Fortunately, their parents hadn’t left work yet. As soon as they stepped out of the elevator, they ran into their busy father and other staff members.

Everyone here knew the sisters well; after all, they had been coming here since they were little, and nearly everyone had watched them grow up.

So when the sisters arrived, all eyes turned to them. But seeing Xiao Xi’s condition, they immediately sensed something was wrong.

Their father’s name was Lu Ming, and he looked very young. If not told he was Luna and Lusina’s father, many would probably mistake him for a young intern in his twenties.

At that moment, he was standing near the elevator, deeply focused on reviewing some documents, but the moment he spotted his daughters stepping out, he recognized them instantly.

However, when he saw Lusina’s tattered clothes and Luna carefully supporting her, a deep unease quickly spread through his heart.

“Everyone, stop staring and get back to work!”

Lu Ming dismissed the gathering staff, then approached Luna and the others.

“Luna, take your sister to my office to sit down. And Old Bi, go grab a white coat for me.”

Luna soon led her sister to their father’s office. After a while, Lu Ming came in with a white coat, draping it over Xiao Xi’s shoulders, then brewed a cup of coffee and handed it to her.

“Tell me, what exactly happened?”

Lu Ming pulled up a chair and looked seriously at Luna and Xiao Xi. From their appearance, anyone could tell something serious had occurred.

But Xiao Xi was still too weak to explain, so Luna took over.

“I’ll explain it, Dad.”

Luna then detailed the events to Lu Ming. After hearing her account, his expression grew even more grave.

“A demon attack… I see.” Lu Ming muttered thoughtfully.

“Yes. If it weren’t for Dai Lina chasing them off, we might have been in real danger.” Luna added.

Lu Ming glanced at Dai Lina beside them and noticed her clothes were also covered with scratches from the fight, much like Xiao Xi’s condition.

Suddenly, Lu Ming stood up and faced Dai Lina sincerely.

“Thank you so much, Dai Lina! If it weren’t for you, my daughters would’ve been…”

Seeing his serious gratitude, Dai Lina felt uncomfortable, knowing it wasn’t really her doing.

“It’s… nothing really. Honestly, we were just lucky.” Dai Lina scratched her head awkwardly.

She didn’t like taking credit for others’ efforts, but this was Luna’s request, and Luna had saved her from danger as well.

So, despite her reluctance, she agreed to help.

“Let’s not talk about that now, Father…” Lusina suddenly spoke weakly from the sofa, instantly drawing everyone’s attention.

“Please inform the Hunter Association that there was a demon attack in Water City, Dad.” Lusina said.

“I know. Even if you hadn’t told me, I would have taken care of it myself.” Lu Ming nodded solemnly. This was something he would do regardless—it was his own daughters who had been attacked after all.

At that moment, the office door was gently pushed open, and a very young-looking woman stepped inside.

It was Lu Zhen, the sisters’ mother. She had been busy working, but Old Bi had informed her of the girls’ arrival and Lusina’s condition, so she came over looking worried.

“Dear, what happened?”

Lu Zhen anxiously asked Lu Ming as soon as she entered.

“Lusina and the others were attacked by demons, but fortunately they escaped.”

Lu Ming relayed the news, and upon hearing it, Lu Zhen’s expression grew serious as well.

“A demon attack… and it happened in Water City…”

“That’s right. I’m shocked too, and never thought this would happen to our daughters.”

Lu Ming hadn’t expected a demon attack to occur in Water City, home of the Empire’s First Magic Academy, especially not involving his own daughters.

“So what should we do now, Lu Ming?”

Lu Zhen looked to him.

“I’ve already made up my mind. Tomorrow, I’ll talk to an old friend about this. For now, I’ll leave things here in your hands.”

“Okay.”

After saying this, he turned to Lusina.

“I’ll take you to the Medical Room to get checked out. We need to make sure there’s nothing wrong before sending you back to the dorm.”

But Lusina refused her father’s kindness. “No, Dad. I just want to rest in the dorm.”

But as a father, Lu Ming couldn’t just let it go.

“That’s not acceptable! You may look weak now, but what if there are hidden injuries inside…”

He insisted on taking her to get checked, worried that internal injuries might cause bigger problems.

Yet Lusina still firmly declined.

“It’s really fine, Dad. Let me rest a little, and I’ll be fine.”

“You… this stubborn child.”

Seeing Lusina’s refusal, Lu Ming wanted to persuade her again, but Lu Zhen stopped him.

“Alright, dear, don’t insist on taking Lusina for a checkup. If she has any problems, she’ll tell us, right Lusina?”

“That’s right, Mom. If something’s wrong, I’ll definitely tell you.”

Seeing Lu Zhen defend Lusina, Lu Ming had no choice but to give up.

“Alright then. Lusina, if anything happens, you must tell us.”

“Got it, Dad.”

Despite still feeling weak, Lusina didn’t sense any serious issues in her body, which was why she didn’t want to go to the Medical Room.

“Okay then…” Lu Ming hesitated, then added, “I’ll see you back to the dorm. Dai Lina, tell me where your dorm is. I can drop you off on the way.”

Lu Ming again offered to escort them back, but they still refused.

“No need, Dad. We can walk back ourselves.”

“I’ll take care of my sister, Dad.”

“Yeah, Uncle, don’t worry about me. I can get back on my own.” Dai Lina chimed in.

“Hmm…”

Lu Ming was a bit puzzled by their repeated refusals. He was only trying to help, but they kept pushing him away.

It felt like they were avoiding him…

Since they insisted, Lu Ming finally respected their wishes.

“Alright then. I’ll entrust Luna and Dai Lina to take her back. Be sure to stay safe.”

“Don’t worry, Dad. Now that we’re in the Academy, there won’t be any more demons. I’ll take good care of my sister.”

Hearing Luna’s assurance, Dai Lina muttered silently to herself…

Then what am I!?

What exactly am I!?

“Hmm. Also, you two shouldn’t leave the Academy for the time being, okay?”

Lu Ming instructed them, warning them not to step outside the Academy for now.

“Got it.”

After this ordeal, the sisters understood it wasn’t the time to leave the Academy, so they obediently agreed.

As for Dai Lina, after experiencing the attack, she absolutely wouldn’t leave the Academy either.

It was safer here, after all…

She thought to herself.

The three of them stayed there for a while longer. After updating their parents on the events of the past week, Luna and the others finally left the Research Building.

“Honestly, why didn’t the girls tell me they were coming?”

After they left, Lu Zhen sat on the sofa complaining to Lu Ming that their daughters hadn’t informed her of their visit and that it was Old Bi who told her.

“It happened suddenly, so I didn’t have time to tell you. I didn’t expect the girls to encounter something like this.”

Lu Ming explained, looking slightly apologetic. After her brief complaint, Lu Zhen asked what she really wanted to know—the demon attack on Lusina and the others.

“What do you think, Lu Ming? Was it a coincidence or deliberate?”

“I don’t know. But one thing is clear—I didn’t expect demons to be active in this city…”

This was his greatest worry aside from his daughters’ safety. The presence of demons here meant their home was no longer safe.

“Sigh… I never thought demons would target our daughters. And now we’re ‘trapped’ inside this Academy.”

Lu Zhen shared Lu Ming’s concern. Going home now would be dangerous, so they’d have to stay in the Staff Dormitory for the time being.

“This just adds more trouble… Tomorrow, I have to meet him.”
