Red averted his gaze and took the property deed from the other man’s hand.
At this moment, his brain had not yet recovered from the effects of the Monkey’s Wisdom Reduction Method.
“I wish you a pleasant life,” the monk said, bowing to Red.
“I believe Litt’s spirit in heaven will watch over you.”
After saying that, the White Church monk departed.
Red was left standing there, completely bewildered, holding the property deed as he walked back into the house.
In the living room, Letia had already finished setting out the bowls and utensils.
Seeing Red’s dazed expression, she asked, a hint of confusion in her voice, “What’s wrong?”
“The people from the White Church gave me the property deed to this house. Apparently, that’s what Litt’s will said…”
“Pffft!”
Hearing this, Letia nearly spat out a mouthful of blood.
‘Ymir!’
‘What kind of godforsaken reason did you come up with?!’
‘What do you mean, a will?!’
‘Why would a beautiful young girl in her twenties just happen to have a freaking will prepared for no reason?!’
‘Doesn’t this clearly invite people to wonder if Litt committed suicide on purpose or faked her death?!’
Letia was already breaking out in a cold sweat.
She stole a glance at Red, who was still reading the property deed, only to find that his face held nothing but confusion and daze.
It didn’t seem like he had realized that point at all.
This allowed Letia to breathe a sigh of relief.
‘Even if Red’s IQ is exceptional, he must have moments where his brain short-circuits… Or maybe I’ve messed with him so much that his mind can’t quite function?’
Regardless, at least Red wasn’t thinking in that direction for the time being.
As for what to say later… she would just have to take it one step at a time.
Letia was currently nursing a massive headache.
One lie required many more to cover it up.
She had believed she had done everything flawlessly, but she couldn’t account for the existence of a “pig teammate” like Ymir.
“Well, well… anyway, it’s a good thing. At least you don’t have to worry about Litt’s things being sold off to some strange place, Red.”
Letia laughed it off, trying to use conversation to distract Red’s thoughts.
The latter nodded in deep agreement.
Previously, he had been worried about whether Litt’s belongings would be taken away by the White Church, or when they would take back this house.
Now that things had turned out this way, he no longer had to fret over that issue.
Litt’s things still remained here.
Although the dull ache in his heart would resurface every time he thought about it, it was still much better than losing everything completely.
“That’s good. After we finish eating, I’ll go to Litt’s room and tidy up her things…”
When Red said this, he couldn’t help but look at Letia.
“However, it wouldn’t be right to let you sleep in her room directly. Here, take this key.”
Red handed the key to Letia.
The latter nodded blankly, but she quickly realized something.
There weren’t just Litt’s things in that room!
There were also many things that belonged to her—small-sized clothes, the panties Red had helped her pick out, and even that photo of her as a child she had printed.
They were all in there.
Furthermore, the broken Disguise Mask was still sitting right by the bed!
“No, no, no,” Letia said, hastily grabbing Red’s hand with a giggle.
“It’s better if I handle this kind of thing. Besides, for a big man like you to go into a girl’s room… no matter how you look at it, it’s a bit weird, right?”
Seeing Letia act this way, Red subconsciously felt she was up to something.
But no matter how he thought about it, he couldn’t figure it out.
Or rather, trying to understand this girl’s thought process was simply asking too much of anyone.
However, Red had his own solution: refusal.
“I’ll do it myself. I won’t trouble you, Letia.”
Well… after saying that, Red seemed to change his mind.
Perhaps Letia just wanted to see Litt’s private items and didn’t have any bad intentions.
After all, Red was well aware that this girl was actually a “double-ended plug.”
Combined with her previous suppressed outburst, she probably just wanted to find something to vent her frustrations on.
‘Yeah… it’s definitely better if I do it myself.’
“Let me do it! Let me do it!”
Letia acted like a clingy girlfriend, shaking Red’s arm and speaking in an intimate, teasing voice.
“If you don’t find some source material for me… you wouldn’t want me crawling into your blankets tonight to ‘borrow’ your good Brother, would you!?”
See?
He had guessed correctly.
Red let out a sigh of relief, his face showing an “as expected” expression.
“You make a valid point, but… I refuse!”
No matter what, one shouldn’t joke with the belongings of the deceased, even if Letia was just talking big.
Seeing Red stubbornly refuse to budge, Letia began to get anxious.
In this situation, if he went into Litt’s room, it would basically confirm the fact that she was Litt.
Once Red found out the truth, the deceptions and lies from before… wouldn’t everything be screwed?!
Her plan was to slowly replace Litt’s position in Red’s heart, and then, after Red had completely moved on, she would slowly confess to him.
She didn’t want it to be proven so abruptly that Litt was her.
You can’t get fat from one bite; you’ll only choke yourself to death.
Just as Letia was at her wit’s end, Red’s communicator crystal suddenly rang.
Although Red didn’t turn on the speaker, Letia could still hear it—it was Tos’s voice.
‘Good job, Tos!’
‘I’ll definitely take good care of your Succubus’s business later!’
Letia was secretly delighted, while Red’s brow furrowed tighter and tighter as he listened to Tos’s words.
“Yeah… yeah… I understand.”
Red hung up the communicator crystal, his face full of gravity.
Seeing this, Letia couldn’t help but ask.
“What happened?”
Although she had heard Tos’s voice, she hadn’t been able to hear clearly what they were saying.
Facing Letia’s question, Red took a deep breath and spoke in an incredibly solemn tone.
“The majority of the monsters on the 30th and 35th floors of the Dungeon have disappeared for unknown reasons.”
He spoke slowly, as if to make sure Letia understood every word.
“What’s more serious is that, according to reliable intelligence sent back by multiple Adventurer Parties at the front… a large number of monsters that should be hidden deep within the Dungeon… are currently appearing very active in the forest area on the outskirts of Nightbright Town.”
Now, Letia seemed to understand something as well.
“You mean, it wasn’t an accident that a monster like Ymir suddenly came to the surface?”
“Yes… the situation is quite urgent. The Adventurer Guild has already summoned all the Hero Parties and Adventurer Parties in Nightbright Town to discuss ways to resolve this abnormal situation.”
