Field led Alice down from the carriage, while Natalia had already been waiting for some time a short distance away.
Seeing Field and Alice descend, Natalia immediately hurried toward them.
Seeing Natalia approach so quickly, Alice—having just experienced a “tide” of passion with Liyakade—still felt a bit out of sorts.
Her legs involuntarily pressed together, and her body was tense.
Her face wore a slightly unnatural flush, as she was terrified that Natalia might notice something.
Furthermore, a Sister like Natalia, who had lived and studied in the Church since childhood, had absolutely no understanding of matters of romance or passion.
Even if she noticed strange changes or reactions in Alice, she would never guess what the two had just been doing in the carriage.
However, Natalia’s attention and thoughts were clearly elsewhere.
Although she did notice Alice’s small movements and the flush on her face, she didn’t give them a second thought.
Currently, purifying the toxins from the other poisoned members of the caravan and dealing with the contaminated water source were the top priorities.
“Master Feide, Lady Alice, did you manage to discuss a solution?”
Approaching them, Natalia inquired of Field and Alice as they came to a halt.
“Not… not yet…”
Natalia’s expectant gaze swept over the two.
Noticing her stare, Alice swallowed nervously and then looked toward Field.
“Field said she thought of a method just now, but she said we need to discuss it together.”
With that, both Natalia’s and Alice’s eyes focused on Field’s slightly serious face.
“Mhm.”
Sensing their gazes upon her, Field gave a soft affirmation.
She nodded and slowly began to speak.
“This method might not necessarily work; it’s just a hypothesis of mine. However, I believe it’s worth a try.”
As Field spoke, her eyes drifted toward Natalia’s fair, slender neck.
“…Ma—Master Feide!?”
Feeling Field’s gaze linger on her neck, Natalia suddenly felt a wave of flustered confusion.
She unconsciously shrugged her shoulders, feeling a bit itchy.
“Are… are you looking at…?”
“…I’m just looking at your cross. What are you thinking?”
Seeing Natalia’s reaction, Field rolled her eyes in exasperation and continued.
“Natalia, take out your cross and let us see it.”
“Oh, oh… I see. Sor—sorry! I’ve offended Master Feide!”
“It’s fine… anyway, pull out your cross.”
Realizing she had misinterpreted the situation, Natalia’s face turned beet red.
She quickly followed Field’s order, pulling the cross hanging around her neck out from her clothes.
She then unfastened the chain and handed the cross to Field.
“Ahem… Master Feide, what do you need this cross for? I tried earlier, but my cross cannot purify the toxins in other people’s bodies or in the water source.”
“Mhm, I remember that, of course.”
Field took the cross Natalia handed over and began discussing it with the two beside her.
“Alice, Natalia, you both remember how these holy items in the Church generate the Light Element, right?”
“Of course we remember.”
Alice and Natalia nodded in unison.
Alice had been studying diligently at the Royal Magic Academy, and Natalia was an Apprentice Nun; they were both naturally well-versed in these matters.
“Holy items in the Church can convert other elements into the Light Element,” Natalia took the initiative to explain.
“It’s just that the efficiency of this method is too low. A large amount of the four major elements can only be converted into a very weak Light Element. Furthermore, this Light Element is mixed with impurities from the original elements, making the healing effect negligible.”
“If it were a high-tier holy item, the converted Light Element might be able to purify toxins or a water source. But my cross is just a token of an Apprentice Nun. The Light Element it converts can only treat minor wounds or low-potency toxins.”
“That’s exactly right,” Field nodded in agreement.
“However, I’ve been thinking—since the Light Element converted from other elements can be stored in the cross, doesn’t that mean the cross itself has the capability to store and utilize the Light Element?”
Hearing this, Alice’s and Natalia’s eyes lit up.
They instantly understood the implication behind Field’s words.
“I see!”
Natalia didn’t even need Field to explain further; she already grasped her meaning.
“Master Feide, you want Lady Alice to inject her Light Element into the cross, and then I will be the one to use it, right?”
“Hehe, exactly. Very clever, Natalia.”
Field gave a faint smile, offering a small compliment to Natalia’s quick thinking.
Then, she handed the cross to Alice.
“Although I don’t know if it will succeed… this method is certainly worth a try.”
“Mhm, as expected of Field.”
Alice commented with admiration and took the cross from Field.
A golden glow flickered in Alice’s hand as she injected her own Light Element into the cross.
Just as they had hoped, the cross completely stored the Light Element Alice released.
Ssh—
The light in her hand dissipated.
The cross lying quietly in Alice’s palm was now filled with her Magic Power and pure Light Element.
Due to the injection of pure Light Element, the surface of the cross was even covered in a faint layer of golden light.
Seeing that she could successfully inject her Magic Power and Light Element, Alice finally felt at ease and let out a sigh of relief.
It seemed this method was truly viable.
This way, she wouldn’t have to reveal her identity, yet she could still purify the toxins for the victims and the water source.
After Alice had injected a sufficient amount of Light Element into the cross, she returned it to Natalia.
The moment Natalia took the cross, she was startled.
Only now did she truly experience what pure, impurity-free Light Element felt like.
That warm and pure sensation was far more powerful than the Light Element previously converted by holy items.
Now, Natalia could feel that she could channel the Light Element within the cross; she could use it for healing, and even for defense or offense.
Now, Natalia had become Alice’s proxy within the caravan.
She would be the one on the front lines to detoxify the other poisoned members.
“There’s no time to lose. Let’s go help the others now before their symptoms worsen.”
Seeing the plan proceeding smoothly, Field led the two toward the area where the poisoned members of the caravan were located.
