A dog.
Letia didn’t think for long and quickly gave her answer.
“You mean Satania?”
“Right.”
Liz nodded.
“This morning, on my way to the guild, I saw her lying in the grass at the park, digging for wild vegetables.”
“Why does that sound so pitiful?”
Letia didn’t know where to start poking fun at that.
But thinking about it, it made sense.
Since Satania had left both the White Church and the Black Church, she didn’t have a job or any source of income.
Naturally, she could only go to the park to dig for wild vegetables to eat.
‘Luckily this isn’t the America from my past life,’ Letia thought.
‘Otherwise, in the state she’s in, she’d definitely be in the kill range.’
But on second thought… it was also quite tragic.
Even the people at the bottom of this other world’s society at least had the option of farming or digging for wild vegetables to survive.
On the other hand…
‘Forget it, I shouldn’t think about it.’
Letia shook her head and then asked Liz,
“Even though Satania looks like a beast tamer, she’s actually an Executor for the Black Church. I’m not sure why that Cerberus is sticking to her… Maybe it’s because she has the Demon Bloodline?”
Satania was a descendant of the Demon Race, so it made sense for a Cerberus to latch onto her.
“I know that.”
Now that Liz had faced reality, she had become much more serious in how she handled things.
Although she still lacked experience, she at least wouldn’t do something as foolish as trying to use an ox as a horse.
Looking back now, Liz really didn’t know how to face Red.
Especially after taking over the various large and small matters of the team, she realized even more how difficult things had been for him.
‘I really owe him too much…’
But more than that, Liz was even more curious about the young girl next to Letia, who was wrapped in a priestess robe.
She didn’t seem to recall such a person existing in Nightbright Town.
She also didn’t know why Letia had brought her to the Adventurer Guild so late at night.
“She is…?”
“Oh, I forgot to introduce her.”
Letia slapped her forehead and pulled the somewhat timid Ymir to her side.
“Her name is Ymir. She also came out of the Holy Tribunal. You can think of her as my junior.”
Letia gave Ymir an identity that wouldn’t attract too much attention.
Furthermore, even if someone wanted to investigate this identity, they wouldn’t be able to find anything.
After all, it was the Holy Tribunal.
As for… why this Battle Priest couldn’t use the Holy Light?
‘She’s a priest from the Holy Tribunal. Don’t ask.’
After introducing Ymir to Liz, Letia turned back and spoke to Ymir.
“Her name is Liz. She’s the Captain of Dawnblade and also my former teammate.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Liz extended her hand politely, but Ymir didn’t dare to take it.
Her magic was highly corrosive.
Once they made contact, it was very likely the other woman would discover her true identity.
It was a rather awkward moment.
Fortunately, Letia gave her a way out.
“Well, this little one is quite shy and very sensitive to physical contact, so she doesn’t dare to shake hands with people she isn’t familiar with.”
“Is that so?”
Liz nodded skeptically.
Although she still had many doubts in her heart, she didn’t dwell on the matter.
She simply turned her gaze back toward the guild’s entrance.
Even though almost no one would come at this hour, she still planned to stay on watch until the guild closed.
Back then, Red had done the same thing, which was how he managed to recruit Bethany and Jessica.
Even if there was an element of luck involved, she intended to follow his example and learn from his methods.
But now that she had imitated almost everything, she had only two words to describe it.
‘So tired.’
‘Is Red’s body really made of iron?’
Liz let out a deep sigh.
When she thought about her past unappreciative self, she wished she could travel back in time and give herself two slaps.
‘Look at the mess you’ve made.’
But at this point, there was nothing left to say.
There was no medicine for regret in this world.
What she had to do was take the team as far as possible.
This wasn’t just about not failing Letia’s expectations, but also… not forgetting the original will of Dawnblade.
Watching Letia help Ymir look for a commission, Liz pushed the messy thoughts out of her mind.
‘I should just focus on doing my own job first.’
While Liz was thinking, Bethany and Jessica also walked into the guild.
The two were carrying plates of food.
Seeing Liz still sitting there, they stepped forward.
“Here’s the food you wanted, Captain.”
“Thank you.”
Liz took the food from them and began to eat heartily.
It still didn’t taste good—oily, greasy, and with almost no aroma.
Compared to Red’s cooking… it was like comparing heaven and earth.
However, she had grown used to it.
Even so, she stuffed the lettuce leaves mixed with salad into her mouth without a word.
In front of her, Bethany hesitated as if she wanted to say something.
“What is it?”
Liz looked at her with some confusion.
Upon hearing her prompt, Bethany spoke.
“Captain…”
The Elf Archer seemed unable to continue, but Jessica, standing beside her, couldn’t help but let out a sigh.
“Satania’s bread was all stolen by the dog today. Now, she’s become one with that dog.”
Liz’s mouth twitched.
For some reason, being able to become one with a Cerberus… that Satania truly was a character.
But after Jessica saw Letia over there, she made a suggestion.
“Since Letia is here too, why don’t we all sit down and have a drink together?”
Although Letia was no longer part of Dawnblade, thinking back, they really hadn’t gathered to hang out and relax for a long time since Red left.
Liz also voiced her agreement with Jessica’s suggestion.
“That’s right. Letia, why don’t you join us for a drink?”
Letia, who had already finished picking out a task for Ymir, didn’t refuse Liz’s invitation.
“Then Ymir, what about you?”
“I…”
As a girl who hadn’t touched a drop of alcohol in her past life, Ymir naturally had no interest in drinking.
“I won’t drink.”
“I was going to help you find a place to stay, but it wouldn’t be right to make you wait here for me…”
Letia scratched her head, but soon, she suddenly thought of something.
Wasn’t she currently the Holy Maiden of the White Church?
Arranging a place for Ymir to stay should be as easy as can be, right?
Thinking of this, Letia handed over a card.
“The guild is full. Go to the White Church’s monastery and look for a… what was his name? Anyway, look for a Father. He can help you arrange a place to stay.”
“Thank you!”
Seeing Ymir’s immensely grateful expression, Letia could only let out a sigh in her heart.
She hadn’t expected her status as the Holy Maiden to actually be somewhat useful.
