“Is there something you can’t talk about here?” Feini didn’t want to get up, not even raising her head as she toyed with the tip of her pen.
Ten-Step Hall was eavesdropping just ahead.
“It has to be a private conversation, so no one else can hear,” Qingshamu said in a low voice, signaling to Ten-Step Hall beside her.
“……” Feini finally lifted her head, giving her a pitiful little widow’s look, her face full of helplessness.
“I’ll buy you a drink,” Qingshamu said, her heart practically melting.
Only then did Feini reluctantly stand and leave the classroom with Qingshamu.
They arrived at the Magic Beverage Vending Machine at the end of the corridor.
Qingshamu ordered two cups of Fruit Juice and sat down with Feini on a nearby bench.
But once seated, Qingshamu didn’t know where to begin asking.
She had been full of questions while guarding the tomb, but now standing before Feini, she couldn’t get a single word out.
“Have you been doing okay recently?” Qingshamu asked worriedly. “Where did you go before?”
“Not bad, thanks to you all, the Witch Instructor found me. Because I was treated unfairly, they changed my room,” Feini replied.
“Changed rooms? Where did they move you to?” Qingshamu pressed.
“I’m not going to tell you. Don’t act like we’re friends,” Feini snorted. “Who schemed against me? Who used me? I remember it all clearly.”
“……” Qingshamu was momentarily at a loss for words, sitting there feeling a bit dejected.
“I’m leaving,” Feini finished her juice beside her and then prepared to leave, unwilling to engage any further.
“Wait,” Qingshamu reached out to grab Feini, asking, “What about that child last time?”
“What does my child have to do with you?” Feini tried to shake off her hand, but Qingshamu stuck like glue, impossible to get rid of.
“You have to explain,” Qingshamu stammered, conflicted and struggling to say it.
“Noted. But my child’s nothing you need to worry about,” Feini struggled still, but Qingshamu’s grip was like an iron clamp.
“That child might be…” Qingshamu tried to say more.
At that moment, a sudden gust of wind swept in from the side.
Qingshamu was shocked, forced to release Feini, and swiftly drew her Training Iron Sword to counterattack.
“Clang!”
She precisely blocked the sneak attack and, looking closely, saw it was a Training Wooden Sword—worse equipment than hers.
You have to admit, the attacker was skilled to react so fast.
But when Qingshamu saw the attacker’s face, her expression turned even more stunned.
The attacker was a white-haired girl, speaking coldly: “Let go of my mother.”
Her hair was parted in the middle, a red mark on her forehead. Compared to Qingshamu, she had fewer traces of coldness and more of a divine aura, like a living statue of the Church’s goddess.
“!?” Qingshamu broke out in a cold sweat.
She sensed this girl was the little one she’d met before, but it was hard to believe how much she’d grown since their last meeting.
But White Feather Dove didn’t care about her thoughts. “If you bully my mom, you deserve to die.” She swung her sword again, sending a sharp wave of sword wind.
Qingshamu was forced to retreat step by step, still lost in thought, only able to defend passively and sliding down the corridor.
Her expression was grim, features scrunched up, wanting to say something but not knowing what.
“Don’t act recklessly. I’m fine. You should go report first,” White Feather Dove wanted to keep fighting, but Feini pulled her back and warned, “And remember, don’t call me ‘mother’ at school to avoid unnecessary trouble.”
“Yes,” White Feather Dove obediently sheathed her wooden sword, eyes locked on Qingshamu as she passed by and headed to the Instructor’s Office to report.
Feini stepped in front of Qingshamu, looking down on her with a warning gaze: “Don’t bother me anymore. I won’t help you with anything. That’s the last favor I’m giving you.”
With that, she walked past Qingshamu and returned to the classroom alone.
Qingshamu looked at the crowd of onlookers gathering around. Under all those gazes, she couldn’t press further and silently left.
……
“Ahem, breaking news: we have a new Transfer Student in our class. Everyone, give a warm welcome!”
The next class was supposed to be culture lessons, but the Witch Class Teacher suddenly arrived, bringing a new student into the classroom.
Qingshamu’s recently settled nerves were instantly on edge again, her eyes wide open.
Because the Transfer Student was the same white-haired girl she had just fought—White Feather Dove.
Faced with the class’s applause, White Feather Dove wore an expression of utter indifference, arrogant beyond words, as if she cared about nothing at all—a pride that overflowed the screen.
Yet the other equally proud Magical Beast Apprentices didn’t feel disgusted by her.
Had it been someone else, they probably would have already started throwing insults, but now they were clapping for her instead.
Something was definitely off.
Class Monitor Ten-Step Hall and Vice Monitor Xueyuedai quickly sensed the anomaly.
This Transfer Student carried a special aura that forced others to calm down.
As long as she stood there, she subtly influenced the emotions of others—this ability was called an [Aura].
For example, Ten-Step Hall herself had an aura that made everyone more polite. These were exclusive skills possessed only by special individuals.
“Don’t disrupt the class. You may take the empty seat in the last row,” the Witch Class Teacher said.
“Thank you, Teacher,” White Feather Dove replied politely.
She stepped down from the podium and walked to the last row, sitting down right next to Feini.
Feini instantly felt a strong sense of security, as if she were attending school with her daughter—an indescribably strange feeling.
It could only be said that neither of them was a normal woman or a normal child. So young, yet already so mature and smart.
“What’s your name?”
“What’s your race?”
“Where are you from?”
As soon as class ended, a circle of girls swarmed White Feather Dove’s desk, chattering away with questions.
White Feather Dove stayed completely silent, playing deaf until they lost interest and dispersed on their own.
“Feini, you’re finally back to class! We missed you so much.”
“Dressed up so pretty, are you trying to seduce men again?”
“What about your child? Aren’t you going to raise them? Are they dead or not?”
The school’s troublemaking girls came to bother Feini again, relentlessly persistent.
Especially seeing Feini getting more fashionable and prettier—it was unbearable.
Just some lowly Magical Beast Apprentice, how could she be so beautiful? They had to ruin her cute face!
This time, Feini didn’t lower her head to endure but smiled at the troublemakers.
“What are you smiling at? Let’s talk in the girls’ restroom,” the lead troublemaker snapped, grabbing Feini’s sweater.
“Bang!” Almost instantly, a wooden sword struck her head at lightning speed.
