Letia stretched, turned around, and spoke with a hint of lethal laziness.
“The Four Great Talents of Nightbright Town, hello there.”
Red heard the name, and while he didn’t understand exactly what it meant, based on his knowledge of Letia, he knew she was definitely taking a subtle jab at them.
He just didn’t have any proof.
But before Red could speak, Mason stepped forward and said.
“Miss Letia, it looks like the seats here are full. You wouldn’t mind if we shared the table, would you?”
“I don’t mind as long as you don’t mind the squeeze.”
Letia gave an indifferent shrug.
However, Mason wasn’t wrong.
As night approached, business at the Riverside Tavern was indeed booming.
There were basically no empty tables left; Letia’s table was the only one with space.
As for why it was empty…
Ever heard of “Getting Ahead”?
Ever heard of “Physical Hypnosis”?
Letia was indeed quite famous in Nightbright Town, but most of that reputation was negative.
Red also knew that she had spread most of those rumors herself, though he had no idea why she would do such a thing.
Perhaps it was to make those ill-intentioned lolicon-types tremble with fear and stay away?
While Red was lost in thought, Brian spoke up with a boisterous laugh.
“I haven’t had the chance to thank you for what happened back on the Second Floor Twenty-Seven.”
“That’s not necessary.”
Letia didn’t even raise her eyelids.
She picked up a massive oak mug, gulped down a mouthful of ice-cold beer, and let out a satisfied sigh.
She set the mug down, and the bottom of the glass hit the tabletop with a dull thud.
“I only decided to follow because I saw Red going. If you want to thank someone, thank him. Don’t thank me.”
Red looked at Letia’s demeanor and dithered for a moment.
One undeniable point was that this was the persona Letia displayed to outsiders.
Back when he was in Dawnblade, she had treated him with basically this same attitude.
Her mouth spoke words that were incredibly lazy and indifferent, but in her heart, she was always subconsciously maintaining a distance from others.
However, back on the Second Floor Twenty-Seven, that didn’t seem to be the case.
Or rather, she seemed to change a lot when she was alone with him.
Then again, it was also possible that Letia simply wasn’t good at dealing with people who had personalities like Brian’s.
Facing Letia’s subconscious distance, Brian just laughed it off, completely unbothered.
“You can’t calculate it like that! Red has his merits, and you have yours. Besides, you followed Red to lure away the Beast Tide, didn’t you? When we arrived at the scene, you vanished into the darkness without a word. Don’t think we didn’t notice.”
Hearing this, Letia silently shot Red a look.
“Hey, they knew you were there from the start. I didn’t snitch.”
Red spread his hands.
Seeing this, Letia could only say helplessly.
“It was mainly because Red wanted to play the hero again, so I followed him. It’s as simple as that. I wasn’t doing it for the sake of your Scarlet Legion.”
“No matter what you say, I’m covering your drinks and food today!”
Listening to Brian’s straightforward voice, Letia could only click her tongue inwardly.
Whatever.
She was dirt poor anyway; getting a free meal wasn’t a bad deal.
Red and the three others sat down.
Letia held her mug, glanced at Red beside her out of the corner of her eye, and couldn’t help but ask.
“I remember you opened a weapon shop, right? Aren’t you going to go watch the shop?”
At Letia’s questioning, Red could only scratch his head and let out a sigh.
“You might not believe it, but I just got a batch of weapons in, and now they’re already completely sold out.”
This wasn’t Red boasting; it was the truth.
After the Scarlet Legion went through a fierce battle, most of their equipment and weapons needed maintenance or replacement.
Add to that the armor Brian bought from Red—its quality was exceptionally good, even better than what the best blacksmith shop in Nightbright Town could forge—so as soon as they were out of the forge, the Scarlet Legion had packed them all up and taken them away.
“Letia, as Red’s former teammate, you should be somewhat familiar with Red’s forging skills, right?”
“I’m a priest. I don’t need armor, and I don’t need longswords. Of course I wouldn’t know.”
“Hahaha!”
Hearing Letia’s answer, Brian immediately laughed with pride.
“Let’s put it this way: armor forged by others feels like many steel plates riveted together. But Red’s stuff feels like a single solid piece of steel. The protection it offers is on a completely different level!”
Brian’s boasting actually made Red feel a bit embarrassed.
He could only quickly find another topic.
“So, didn’t Dawnblade go to the Dungeon? Why are you still here, Letia?”
Red asked the question everyone present cared about, and Tos even offered a very bold guess.
“Could it be… you left the team too?”
“Of course not.”
Letia shook her head.
She just stared at Red.
It was fine for a moment, but being stared at like that made even Red feel a bit awkward.
“It couldn’t be because of me, right?”
Red pointed at himself.
Although Liz likely knew that Letia had gone to the Second Floor Twenty-Seven with him, in his understanding, Liz wouldn’t take her anger out on someone else over something like that.
“Well, you’re actually right.”
Letia’s affirmative answer gave Red quite a shock.
“That is to say… Liz won’t let you enter the Dungeon?”
This left the others stunned as well.
Tos even said with some indignation.
“That’s going too far, isn’t it? Are these nobles all so small-minded?!”
“Er…”
Red looked at him speechlessly.
“Before you say that, think carefully. You’re a noble yourself.”
“Oh right, I forgot I was a noble too.”
“Have you wandered Succubus Street until you lost your mind?”
Letia took a sip of beer, cleared her throat, and interrupted their conversation.
“No, no. It’s a bit complicated to explain, but it’s not what you think.”
Brian crossed his arms and thought for a moment, but he couldn’t figure it out either.
He could only ask.
“Then what is it?”
“It’s a bit complicated to say.”
Letia set down her mug, let out a sigh, and said very frankly, “To put it simply… Liz wants me to hop into bed with Red, so I stayed behind.”
The moment those words came out, the entire place went silent.
Whether it was Red, Tos, Mason, or Brian, not one of them could say a word.
It was as if they had seen a ghost.
Red finally managed to regain his composure.
He let out a forced laugh and said to Letia.
“You’re definitely joking, right?”
Letia didn’t answer.
She just looked at him silently, her expression full of pity, while the Cross behind her began to manifest.
Faced with this scene, cold sweat gradually broke out on Red’s forehead.
“You’re joking… right?”
No, no she is not.
