Irena lowered her head, looking at the little loli whose face was filled with despair, and couldn’t help but feel a tinge of sympathy.
She crouched down, pinched Vivi’s chin, making her meet her gaze, and questioned her.
“Tell me, how many slime girls has Eno assimilated so far?”
“Hmm?”
This question left Vivi a bit bewildered. Her innocent, clueless look made Irena feel a bit lost herself.
“You don’t know?”
Vivi nodded.
“I… After she converted me, I just ran away.”
“You… just… kill me. I’m nothing but a burden alive. But, could you do me a favor?”
Irena’s eyes flickered, and a guess started to form in her mind.
“Do you know Wu Menghan?”
Vivi’s body trembled, her gaze subconsciously avoiding eye contact.
“No… I don’t know her, what’s wrong?”
On the surface, nothing seemed off, but Irena frowned in thought, still not certain if the slime girl before her was really Wu Menghan’s brother.
After some thought, Irena decided it was best to capture Vivi first; she couldn’t just leave her be.
She stood up, took out her phone, and dialed a number.
Irena stood by, waiting for the call to connect.
***
Time ticked by, and Vivi began to sense a creeping feeling of danger.
The girl in front of her was able to ask that question—she likely already knew something. If she admitted to her connection with Wu Menghan, it would surely drag her younger sister into this as well.
Her anxiety grew stronger, magnified inside her. This small, frail body left her with no sense of security at all. Vivi bit her lip, frantically searching her inherited slime girl memories for a solution.
After a moment, her eyes lit up; she had found a more efficient way to manipulate the magic within her body.
Secretly circulating her mana, the coldness within her was slowly dispelled—something Irena failed to notice. After all, she was just a newly born little slime girl. What trouble could she really cause?
Yet in this brief moment of carelessness, when Irena looked again, she suddenly realized the cold magic surrounding the little loli had dissipated.
Her expression froze for a second, and before she could react—
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Vivi summoned the remaining magic within her and shot an ice spike forward.
It wasn’t very fast, and the spike was extremely unstable; it was obvious this little one had only just learned how to use magic.
Yet, even such an attack made Irena’s heart skip a beat.
She twisted her body to dodge, but when she looked back, the petite figure was already gone.
“Damn it!”
Irena cursed under her breath. Mana surged through her body as she sensed for the lingering magic in the air, then sped off in that direction.
Before long, a tiny silhouette appeared in her field of vision.
Vivi ran at an astonishing speed. She already had some foundation, and the slime girl’s body was even lighter and more agile than a human’s.
Irena chased her for a good while, but simply couldn’t outrun Vivi, and could only watch helplessly as the girl escaped into the distance.
With a frustrated punch to the wall, Irena finally gave up on pursuing Vivi.
After escaping danger, Vivi quickly hid around a corner.
Her clothes slowly transformed into a set of white casual wear—a neutral, tomboyish look.
But Vivi was already quite pretty; even this seemingly ordinary outfit gave her a unique charm.
She glanced around, saw that no one was paying attention, and let out a small sigh of relief.
Walking openly down the street once more, her loli appearance drew countless stares.
Surrounded by curious gazes, Vivi was a bundle of nerves, completely forgetting how her face could devastate ordinary men.
Walking down the main street like this, her rate of turning heads was practically one hundred percent.
Feeling the attention all around her, a sense of shame nearly exploded from within.
She forced herself to endure, bowing her head and walking quickly.
As she passed a small alley, a hat and sunglasses appeared out of nowhere, covering her dazzling features.
Only now did Vivi feel the stares lessen significantly.
She let out a small breath, checked the time and the map.
It was eleven in the morning, still early; there was a while yet before her little sister’s lunch break.
Should she go to the school to see her sister?
The sense of unease in her heart grew even stronger; it felt like she was running out of time.
With no time left for hesitation, Vivi decided she had to at least sneak a glance at her sister.
Even if it was just from a hidden corner.
She walked down the bustling streets and stood once more in front of the school gate, eyeing the imposing gatekeeper. This was going to be tricky.
High schools were more strictly managed. If she wanted to get in, she’d have to be clever.
Vivi frowned in thought, then stretched out her tender little hand, letting it go limp.
Her hand turned pink—maybe as a slime, she could sneak in unnoticed.
She looked around. There were cameras everywhere; this was not a good place to sneak in.
Circling the school several times, she finally noticed a particular camera angle.
She looked up at the more than two-meter-high wall. For a girl with only a loli’s physique, this was still too high.
Even so, she wanted to give it a try.
Her body transformed into a pink slime, only palm-sized—she looked just like a slime plushie.
She blinked her big eyes and readied herself.
With a splat, she slammed into the wall.
There was no pain, and she didn’t slide down. The slime on her body let her stick firmly to the wall.
Vivi was delighted and mustered her strength again. This time, she made it over the wall, crashing heavily into the flowerbed below.
“Hm?”
“Did you hear something?”
“Probably just your imagination?”
The two students passing by sounded a bit puzzled but didn’t think much of it.
In the bushes, Vivi was flattened by the impact.
After a moment, she returned to her round, dumpling-like shape.
She furtively parted the bushes and saw there weren’t many students around, so she bounced sneakily into a secluded corner.
She was just about to shift back to human form when she heard footsteps approaching, along with two people talking.
“Hanh Hanh, are you really okay? You seem down these last couple of days.”
“I’m fine, don’t worry about me.”
Wu Menghan smiled faintly, putting on a pair of earphones.
“Sigh, as long as you’re okay. I thought maybe something happened at home.”
Wu Menghan’s eyes darkened for a moment, but her face stayed calm.
Hiding in the corner, Vivi froze completely, silently praying Wu Menghan wouldn’t look this way.
But the more you fear something, the more likely it is to happen.
Just as Wu Menghan passed the corner, as if sensing something, she instinctively turned her head.
Her gaze happened to meet Vivi’s eyes—two pairs of eyes locked.
Despair surged to its peak in Vivi’s heart. Her body stiffened, unable to move.
She had… been discovered.
