Chapter 13: What a narcissistic woman!

In the dim forest, the black-robed figure raised a dagger, about to stab the weak silver-haired girl.

Just as the dagger was about to strike, a figure emerged from the shadows and rescued the silver-haired girl.

‘Huh?’

‘Huh, huh, huh?’

‘The sudden turn of events left my mind blank.’

‘It seems I’m being princess-carried?’

Before her eyes, a strand of pink hair fell, gently brushing her cheek.

‘Pink hair? Such a familiar shade.’

‘Wait, could it be…?’

She looked up and met a pair of amber-colored eyes.

‘Feili again? Why is she everywhere?’

‘They escaped the Shadow Demon’s teleportation array. Shouldn’t she have gone straight back to the academy?’

‘Could it be that Feili came specifically to find me? And then secretly finish me off here?’

‘Whoa, she still hasn’t given up on finishing the job?!’

“Little sister~ We meet again~”

A sweet, charming girl’s voice sounded, and warm breath landed on her ear, making her tremble.

Along with it came a fragrance like orange blossoms, lingering at the tip of her nose.

Only then did she realize that she was being princess-carried by Feili, the game’s female lead.

Duoluolisi’s face instantly turned red, burning from her neck to her ears, and her mind went blank.

‘Aaah!’

Feili looked down at her, the amber eyes reflecting that flushed face.

“Hmm? Little sister, your face is so red~”

A meaningful smile hung at the corner of her mouth, her eyes full of undisguised delight.

“Could it be… you’re shy?”

‘Who’s shy?!’

Duoluolisi snapped out of her daze.

‘No! I was about to succeed just now, and then Feili suddenly popped out and carried me away?’

‘Who asked you to save me! Do you have any idea you ruined my plan!’

Thinking about it, her face grew even redder.

Feili landed lightly with Duoluolisi in her arms.

Looking at the even more “blushingly red” Duoluolisi in her embrace, she couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Hehe, a shy little sister is really cute~”

“Put me down.”

Duoluolisi turned her head away, the flush on her face indistinguishable between shyness and anger, but most of it was probably anger.

“Sure thing~”

Feili gently set her down, her movements as tender as if handling a treasure.

Her fingers lingered an extra moment on Duoluolisi’s waist, and she even secretly brushed the tip of her silver hair.

‘Why is this person so handsy?’

Duoluolisi clearly felt Feili’s little moves.

As soon as she landed, she immediately sprang away, putting distance between them and staring at Feili with wary eyes.

“Hmm? Little sister, you’re so heartless~”

Feili made a gesture of wiping the corner of her eye, her voice carrying a hint of grievance.

“I saved you, and yet you’re so wary of me…”

‘What do you mean?’

‘You ruined my plans, and you want me to thank you?’

Duoluolisi calmed down a bit and considered that Feili’s arrival was indeed timely.

‘I was planning to take a gamble, to take a hit and let the holy sword imbued with [Bloodthirst] strike the Shadow Demon to drain its status.’

‘But thinking about it now, that plan was too risky.’

‘I couldn’t guarantee I would hit the Shadow Demon. The opponent is a veteran assassin; he might sense my intention in an instant and dodge.’

‘Even if it hit, I don’t know how much status [Bloodthirst] would drain. What if it only drained a tiny bit? Then I’d be screwed.’

‘Not to mention that dagger wreathed in black aura, which looked extremely dangerous.’

‘In the game, the Shadow Demon hadn’t landed a single hit on Feili, so I don’t know what would happen if that dagger struck.’

‘What was that black aura? Poison? A curse?’

‘If I took that hit, there would be no good outcome.’

Duoluolisi hesitated and then said softly.

‘Damn it, Feili had saved me twice in one day.’

She turned her head away, not wanting to look Feili in the eye.

‘Without looking, I know that girl is now watching me with a delighted expression.’

The air was silent for a few seconds.

‘Huh? Why no reaction?’

Duoluolisi couldn’t help stealing a glance.

Sure enough, Feili was covering her mouth with a smirk.

‘Hmph, go ahead and laugh!’

Just as she was about to turn her head away again, a shadow caught her peripheral vision.

The Shadow Demon had somehow flashed behind Feili, its dagger aimed at the back of Feili’s neck.

“Watch out behind you!”

Duoluolisi quickly warned, gripping the holy sword, ready to charge.

But Feili didn’t even turn her head.

Still holding her smile, she drew the longsword from her waist with her right hand and casually lifted it back, precisely blocking the attack from behind.

“What?”

The Shadow Demon, seeing its ambush fail, was incredulous.

It had completely concealed its aura.

How did this person detect it?

It immediately changed angles and struck again, but the result was the same.

Feili blocked perfectly again, and still didn’t turn around.

The Shadow Demon refused to believe it and kept backstabbing.

But after a flurry of attempts, it didn’t even touch a single strand of Feili’s hair.

This scene left Duoluolisi dumbfounded.

‘Seriously, how many times has Feili been reborn?’

‘I feel like she knows the Shadow Demon’s attack patterns better than the demon itself.’

Feili, while blocking the Shadow Demon behind her, took a step closer to Duoluolisi, her eyes never leaving her face.

‘Hey! You still have time to say that?’

‘At least show some respect to the Shadow Demon behind you!’

‘Aren’t you afraid it might suddenly change its move?’

Duoluolisi screamed internally.

Her gaze passed over Feili and landed on the increasingly agitated Shadow Demon.

Its movements became chaotic, seemingly just stabbing wildly.

‘It seems I’m not the only one red with anger here.’

“You! How dare you look down on me?!”

The Shadow Demon’s voice was full of fury.

It retreated a few steps, and the black mist in its robe suddenly expanded.

Countless daggers formed from black aura shot out from the mist, flying densely toward Feili.

This time, Feili didn’t ignore it.

A crimson flame ignited on her blade, and she turned and swung.

[Sword Technique: Vermilion Flame]

A crimson flame shockwave erupted from the sword, scattering all the black aura daggers.

The residual wave continued forward, knocking the Shadow Demon back several meters, heavily crashing into a tree trunk.

“Ugh!”

The Shadow Demon cried out in pain and fell to the ground.

Feili sheathed her sword with elegant ease, flicking her hair as she turned.

“So, little sister, do you think I’m reliable now~”

Duoluolisi’s mouth twitched after hearing that.

‘Eww~ What a narcissistic girl.’

‘If she hadn’t said that, I would have thought that sword strike was kinda cool.’

‘But as soon as she opened her mouth, it all fell apart.’
