“How is this possible?”
“No, how is this possible?”
Luo Ya watched Zhī Zǐ pacing in circles anxiously.
“What’s impossible?”
“How can you possibly see Mana Molecules with your naked eyes!”
Zhī Zǐ excitedly grabbed Luo Ya’s shoulders and shook her vigorously.
“Do you realize how ridiculously overpowered that is!”
“Uh, do you mean I’m actually gifted or something?”
Luo Ya asked uncertainly.
“More than that!”
Zhī Zǐ was practically laughing in exasperation.
“Do you know why Mythical Species are called Mythical Species? It’s because they have a transcendent talent in sensing Magic Power compared to humans!”
“If your Mana Affinity weren’t so abysmally bad, I’d suspect you were some disguised Witch!”
Zhī Zǐ thought for a long time, then slapped her thigh.
“No! I have to figure out what’s going on!”
“You go back on your own. I’m off first!”
Then Zhī Zǐ disappeared in an instant.
***
With no other choice, Luo Ya had to go back by herself.
As soon as she came out of the Grand Library, she saw crowds of people bustling about, whispering and chatting about something.
“Hey! Have you heard?”
“Heard what?”
“That newly arrived Master Xia An and Master Yi Sen came to blows at the Magic Conference!”
“That Master Yi Sen? The one from the royal family? I don’t like him—he’s always going on about bloodlines and noble versus commoner. So annoying.”
“What caused the conflict?”
“I heard Master Yi Sen said that Xia An’s new disciple was a commoner or something, and then they fought.”
“I don’t like Master Yi Sen, but I don’t have much goodwill for that lucky bastard either. Why does she get to be so fortunate?”
Lord Xia An… got into a conflict with another Grand Magister because of me?
Luo Ya’s heart tightened instantly.
“Hey! You!”
A harsh voice suddenly came from behind, startling Luo Ya.
Turning around, she saw a girl with fiery red hair, wearing an elaborate and gorgeous dress, with sharp eyes and a contemptuous attitude.
“You’re that Luo Ya? Master Xia An’s new disciple?”
The surrounding crowd immediately buzzed with excitement.
“That’s Master Xia An’s latest disciple?”
“Uh… who told me she was a celestial beauty? Didn’t they say Master Xia An kept her because he fancied her looks?”
“She’s not even as good-looking as me.”
Luo Ya was immediately surrounded by curious apprentices.
Countless eyes fell on Luo Ya, making her extremely uncomfortable.
She wanted to say you’ve got the wrong person, but the crowd was so dense she couldn’t even slip away.
“Tch.”
Seeing Luo Ya’s timid demeanor, the girl across from her made a sound of dissatisfaction.
“Shameless thing! What right do you have to stay by Master Xia An’s side!”
“Be smart! Get lost on your own! Don’t drag down Master Xia An’s reputation!”
[What right do you have to stay by Master Xia An’s side]
These words pierced Luo Ya’s chest like a sharp blade, making her bleed inside.
Struck in her sore spot, Luo Ya lowered her head.
Seeing Luo Ya like this, the girl became even more arrogant.
“My sister was supposed to become Master Xia An’s disciple, but now because of you, Master Xia An refuses to take any new disciples no matter what! Shameless thing! No looks, no talent! Just because you stubbornly refuse to leave! What qualifications do you have?”
Luo Ya clenched her fists.
The girl grew more and more pleased with herself, gradually becoming unrestrained in her words.
“And that Master Xia An is no good either. Just a newly promoted Grand Magister, what’s he so proud of! My master kindly tried to network for him, introduce him to a few great nobles, but not only did he not show gratitude, he dared to lay hands on my master! You two are really a pair of dogs!”
In the blink of an eye, Luo Ya rushed in front of the girl, her frail hands tightly gripping the girl’s neck as she tackled her to the ground.
“I won’t allow you to speak of Lord Xia An like that!”
The girl was stunned by this sudden turn of events and didn’t resist at first.
Luo Ya swung her fist with full force and slammed it into that face.
“Aaaaaaah!”
The girl let out a shrill scream.
The Protective Magic Device on her body activated, turning into an invisible barrier that sent Luo Ya flying.
“How dare you! How dare you!”
The girl touched the blood from her nose caused by the punch, her expression twisted in disbelief.
“Damned commoner! I’ll kill you!”
Intermediate Magic [Thundercloud Incarnation]!
The girl swung her Staff, summoning streaks of red lightning that surged toward Luo Ya.
The combat awareness cultivated from historical fragments immediately came in handy.
Luo Ya quickly raised a curved protective shield that deflected attacks.
The violent red lightning was deflected by the shield, leaving large scorch marks on the wall.
Luo Ya summoned an unstable Wind Field behind her.
Using the force of the field losing stability and expanding outward, she rapidly shot forward to the girl.
The blood-colored energy that knights used in her memories was unconsciously employed by Luo Ya, forming a blood-colored longsword that slashed fiercely at the girl!
The girl’s Protective Magic Device was shattered in one blow.
“Waaaah!”
Just as Luo Ya subdued the girl again and was about to strike,
“What do you think you’re doing!”
A tremendous force suddenly struck her chest, and Luo Ya’s vision went dark, as if her Three Souls and Seven Spirits had been knocked out of her.
With this angry shout, the surrounding apprentices immediately began whispering.
“It’s Master Yi Sen!”
“Why is Master Yi Sen here!”
“What else? He’s here to back up his student!”
Yi Sen’s face was dark as he said in a heavy voice:
“Ill-mannered little brat! Today I’ll teach you some manners on behalf of your teacher!”
Yi Sen grinned viciously, reaching out toward Luo Ya and slowly clenching his hand as if grabbing something.
Luo Ya collapsed on the ground, closing her eyes in despair.
“Since when does my disciple need you to educate her!”
The oppressive pressure on her body immediately dissipated.
Luo Ya opened her eyes and saw that familiar, resolute back standing in front of her.
Her eyes instantly grew moist.
Xia An was genuinely furious.
‘You bastard, I’ve been way too polite to you today!’
The two Grand Magisters released their full Magic Power, warping even the surrounding space with the immense force.
The watching students, sensing danger, scattered in all directions, leaving only Xia An and Yi Sen, along with Luo Ya and the red-haired girl behind them.
Just as the atmosphere became tense and Xia An was about to strike, a flicker of panic hidden from others flashed in Yi Sen’s eyes.
He had thought that as a newly promoted Grand Magister, Xia An would be somewhat inferior to himself, an established Archmage.
Though they were at the same rank, there was still a deep gap between Grand Magisters.
But when they actually released their Magic Power against each other, something was off!
If he kept releasing, he would hit his limit!
How ridiculous would it be if his Magic Power turned out inferior to Xia An’s!
What’s up with this guy?
Is he really just a newly promoted Grand Magister?
So just before Xia An made his move, Yi Sen backed down first, gradually withdrawing his released Magic Power.
Seeing this, Xia An couldn’t just attack directly and had to withdraw his own Magic Power as well.
“Since Master Xia An insists that his choice is correct,”
Yi Sen sneered.
“Then let our disciples settle it. How about that?”
The red-haired girl behind Yi Sen immediately jumped out, pointing at Luo Ya and shouted:
“That’s right! Luo Ya, as Princess of the Kingdom of Valencia, Emma Valencia, I challenge you! If you really think you’re worthy of staying by Master Xia An’s side, then settle it fair and square in the Duel Arena!”
Xia An frowned.
Emma’s Magic Power was dozens of times greater than Luo Ya’s.
This was simply bullying.
“Hmph! An unreasonable demand. Why would we agree to it…”
“Lord Xia An…”
Luo Ya suddenly grabbed Xia An’s clothes.
Xia An turned around and saw Luo Ya’s resolute gaze.
“I can do it. Let me go.”
Xia An hesitated for a moment, then chose to respect Luo Ya’s decision.
“Then the duel will be tomorrow at noon!”
Emma said, pointing at Luo Ya’s nose.
“I was careless just now, so you got a cheap shot in! Just wait until tomorrow!”
