The Wife Rescue Squad was infiltrating deep into the Demon Domain.
Under Xueyuedai’s guidance, they were able to avoid most of the Beast Lords’ forces, but that did not mean the journey would be safe.
Some wild Demonic Beasts without basic intelligence would attack in packs.
In particular, Qingshamu and White Feather Dove emitted a human scent, and ordinary flesh and blood would attract bloodthirsty monsters.
However, these small fry were perfect for practice and honing their skills. Most of them were Ghouls or even Corrupted Beasts — monsters eroded by undead power.
Aside from being difficult to kill, they weren’t particularly powerful.
This was actually a good thing; everyone was suppressing a belly full of rage and felt there weren’t enough Ghouls to kill.
Xueyuedai became increasingly taciturn, staring blankly while sitting by the campfire and occasionally touching her stomach.
She had nothing to say to her other teammates. Each day, she simply led the way obediently.
After all, strictly speaking, she was just a criminal being escorted, not a teammate.
Xueyuedai was completely out of options. Her temperament was gradually becoming like that of a widow, but unlike Feini, no one loved her, and no one trusted her.
Her family had already abandoned her. Because she was pregnant with an unknown bastard, the Fox Clan would never accept a filthy person like her.
This made Xueyuedai think of the former Feini.
At the beginning, Feini had also been bullied and looked down upon for the same reason, and Xueyuedai herself had been the great villain who bullied her back then.
She had also been abandoned by Jukkido Simon. She had thought she was using Simon, but Simon had also been using her.
However, there was nothing to say about that. They were originally just using each other; she had simply been outplayed.
She accepted her defeat wholeheartedly and without complaint.
Helping Qingshamu and the others now was merely a way to survive. Her future was pitch black, and it might be better to just die.
Yet, a sliver of hope remained hidden — the child in her belly. In this regard, she was like the Feini of those years.
It was no wonder Feini had clung to life at the God and Demon Academy; it was all to raise her baby.
Xueyuedai was also clinging to life for the sake of her baby, even if it meant becoming a prisoner of the Human Race.
She looked at Heiqi Long and White Feather Dove, the two “Demon Traitors.”
They didn’t seem like the type who could be easily swayed.
Or rather, Demonic Beasts didn’t have a concept of “Demonkind” at all, unlike the Human Race.
Even if you called them traitors, they wouldn’t understand what you were talking about.
However, Xueyuedai was most worried about Qingshamu. This woman was Feini’s biggest lickspittle.
Now that Xueyuedai was pregnant with Feini’s child, she feared Qingshamu would kill her to silence her once they reached Dragon Spine Mountain.
But even if that happened, Xueyuedai had no way to resist. ‘Since the heavens want me dead, I won’t struggle anymore.’
“How many more days until we arrive?” Qingshamu asked coldly as she sat down by the campfire.
“At our current pace, we will arrive tomorrow,” Xueyuedai said.
“Then everyone should rest early.” Qingshamu didn’t even bother to pitch a tent.
Without Feini by her side, she didn’t need much of a sense of ceremony.
She simply leaned against a large tree with her sword and sat in meditation to rest.
Xueyuedai didn’t say anything more. She sat across from her and meditated, quietly waiting for her final fate.
……
The next day, everyone woke up early and set out ahead of schedule.
This time, they could see their destination from afar. It was a deep red mountain shrouded in a sandstorm.
The surrounding area was desolate, and no Demonic Beasts dared to nest nearby. It was a literal death zone.
The sandstorm howled year-round, carrying fist-sized rocks at ultra-high speeds. It was definitely enough to shatter the skull of any normal creature.
As they walked, Qingshamu, White Feather Dove, and Xueyuedai were forced to activate their Magical Barriers to protect themselves from the storm.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Heiqi Long, however, endured it with her physical body. She didn’t even need to manifest her Dragon Scale Armor.
The stones were not as hard as her skull and automatically turned into powder upon impact.
“The only path to the top is ahead. It is called the Path of Death, and it is where the sandstorm is most violent.”
Xueyuedai led the group of three to the foot of Dragon Spine Mountain. Before them lay a very strange, rugged path that led diagonally straight to the summit.
Inside, the sandstorm was at its most ferocious. Sharp gravel flew back and forth like swords. Every second spent there was like suffering a thousand cuts.
“Xueyuedai, you can go. It’s enough that you led us here.” Qingshamu could already feel that person’s fierce aura, confirming that her fated enemy was hiding on the mountain.
“You’re letting me go?” Xueyuedai frowned and asked in confusion.
“You must think I’m going to kill you to silence you, right? You look at me with those wary eyes every day. I am the Former Hero, not a Demon King. I wouldn’t do something like that. Go,” Qingshamu said.
“I’m not leaving. I want to rescue Feini too. Although I hate you, I hate Jukkido even more. Anyone can win, but Jukkido Simon must not,” Xueyuedai said, her eyes suddenly firm and determined.
“You are pregnant, and we are going to have a decisive battle with the Red Dragon Great Demon King. You shouldn’t mess around,” Qingshamu said.
“If you’re pitying me because of that, then don’t bother,” Xueyuedai snapped.
“…” Qingshamu saw that her mind was made up and didn’t try to persuade her further.
Qingshamu had originally thought of herself as the husband, but now it seemed Feini was the emperor, while she, Xueyuedai, and Jukkido Simon were all just her concubines.
“Then let’s go. Whether you can cross this mountain path depends on yourself.” Qingshamu was the first to step onto the path.
Her body was covered by a Moonlight Shield that glowed like a lamp, making it easy to block the sandstorm’s thorns.
White Feather Dove had nothing to worry about either. Her Dark Moon Shield was no worse than her Evil Father’s; in fact, its defensive performance was even better.
Heiqi Long remained the same, enduring with her physical body. However, this time she did manifest her Dragon Scale Armor, and the sharp stones left no marks upon it.
As for Xueyuedai, her Magic Shield as a Frost Magician was also exceptionally thick.
She moved forward behind a slab of moving ice, easily blocking the sandstorm’s thorns.
The party of four successfully passed the Path of Death and reached the summit of Dragon Spine Mountain.
After stepping out of the path, the violent winds suddenly dissipated. The summit had become a peculiar garden with a very peaceful atmosphere.
Sunflowers with a metallic texture grew all over the ground, and various broken swords belonging to the Human Race were stuck in the soil.
It was truly a place suitable for a final decisive battle; one could tell at a glance that the final boss was about to appear.
In the center of the summit stood a large, lonely old mansion.
Hiss, hiss, hiss—
Heiqi Long was the first to hiss. Even before seeing her Dragon Father, she had already caught her foul scent.
“You really are persistent. I clearly gave up everything to live in seclusion, yet you still want to drive me to the end? Is it really that hard for me to just live a peaceful life?”
Jukkido Simon launched the first strike, playing the victim. Her words were full of sarcasm and shamelessness.
