However, just as Satania called for help, the Cerberus on the other side, seeing her turn back, lunged at her once more.
But as an Executor of the Black Church, Satania was no ordinary opponent.
Sensing the presence behind her, she rolled to the side, dodging the attack, and as she stood up, a look of triumph appeared on her face.
“Hehe… If you’re not afraid to die, then bring it on! Don’t think I’ll fear you just because you have three heads.”
But faced with Satania’s threats, Cerberus simply acted as if it hadn’t heard anything at all and stepped forward.
It even wagged its tail.
Seeing this, Satania hurriedly shielded the bread in her arms and took a step back.
“Wait! I think we can still talk this out. Don’t think I can’t beat you—I’m just feeling merciful today, that’s all.”
Yet even so, Cerberus kept walking straight toward her, forcing Satania to keep retreating.
“Hey, hey! Don’t you understand human speech?!”
Watching this scene, even though Letia didn’t want to admit it, she was really frustrated!
She hated that she didn’t have Popcorn and Cola in hand.
If this scene were playing out in the three-dimensional world, it’d look pretty dumb.
But here in the two-dimensional world… it’s just adorable.
So adorable, in fact, you just want to—well, not train, but dote on them a little.
“Letia, why are you just watching?!”
After dodging several dog lunges, Satania looked at Letia, who stood motionless on the side, and quickly called out for help:
“Aren’t I your ally? Come help me out!”
In response, Letia snapped back to herself, pondered for a moment, then offered a very reasonable suggestion.
“Ahem! People have their words, and dogs have theirs… Why don’t you try barking a few times?”
“Bark a few times?”
“That’s right, that’s right! You’re speaking human, how could a dog understand that? You have to use dog language.”
As she spoke, Letia pressed her palms together, adopting the Holy Church’s prayer posture.
“The Lord once said, as long as you are earnest and focused, even beings of different species can connect hearts.”
Satania froze for a moment, feeling like Letia was trying to fool her.
But she had no proof.
She might be silly, but she wasn’t brainless, so after a bit of thought, she made her own suggestion.
“Letia, why don’t you demonstrate first?”
“Sorry, I don’t have as much strength as you, Satania, so I can’t do it,” Letia shook her head and sighed, “And look, whenever I reach out my hand, this dog gets all alert. My relationship with it isn’t as close as yours, so I can’t achieve that kind of heart-to-heart connection.”
To prove she wasn’t lying, Letia took two steps toward Cerberus.
Just as she’d said, as soon as Cerberus saw Letia, it recoiled as if it had seen a ghost, retreating several steps toward Satania.
It seemed to recall some unpleasant memories.
Back on the twentieth floor…
It thought it had caught a Priest who’d strayed from the group, but then the other party drove a Cross into the ground and unleashed a flurry of blows, leaving it unable to land from the sky.
Worse still, when it finally managed to get back on the ground, the Priest kept dodging left and right, making it impossible to land a hit.
In the end, it got tricked into falling asleep.
Such an infuriating person—it would remember her for a lifetime.
As for who that stray Priest was?
Who else but the less-than-150cm-tall little loli standing before it?
“Why is it still moving closer to me?!”
“That’s why I said you have a great relationship with it, right?”
“Ugh…”
Satania gritted her teeth, looked at the bread in her hand, and then at Cerberus closing in step by step.
She could only take a deep breath, gather all her anger, and let out the most indignant roar.
“Woof!!”
“Pfft…”
Letia could barely hold it together now, turning her head away so she wouldn’t burst out laughing.
But no, she couldn’t laugh—yet.
“I-it’s fine, really, your anger has already been conveyed to the other side, so… try harder!”
“Why do I feel like the dog is just full of question marks?”
“That means you haven’t truly achieved heart-to-heart communication yet.”
“Woof woof!!”
Cerberus glanced at Letia behind it, then at the green-haired girl in front.
Given the situation, was there even a choice?
Of course not—it kept walking forward.
“Why is it still coming at me?!”
“Try a little harder~”
At this moment, hiding in the shadows, Red suddenly felt… a sense of shared misery.
Ah… this feeling.
When he was being messed with by Letia, it was just like this.
Looking at Letia, whose face was turning red from trying not to laugh, Red let out a heartfelt sigh.
There was no word for this but tragic.
After listening to three minutes of barking, Cerberus’s three heads all had question marks floating over them.
“Huff…”
Satania panted, looking at the confused Cerberus and couldn’t help but question Letia:
“Why does it seem totally unafraid? Is this really working?”
“It… works… pfft hahaha!!”
At last, Letia couldn’t hold it in anymore, clutching her stomach as laughter shook her whole body.
“Letia, you’ve been laughing nonstop this whole time! You never stopped!”
Even the dim-witted Satania realized by now that Letia was just messing with her, but, for the sake of their alliance, she couldn’t get mad.
All she could do was huff at Cerberus.
“You stupid mutt… Don’t think I’m scared of you! Let me show you the wrath of a Black Church Executor! Hyaa!!”
Satania charged forward.
Satania jumped in.
“Uuu… My bread…”
Poor Satania curled into a ball, like an abandoned puppy, hugging her knees, teary-eyed, gazing off into the distance.
Cerberus was using its three heads to rip and devour the spoils of victory, wagging its tail so hard it left afterimages, utterly ignoring the pitiful, nearly tangible gaze of its former master.
At such a scene, even listeners would weep, viewers would shed tears, men would be left speechless, women would cry.
Except for Letia, who was nearly about to pass out from laughing.
“Ahem!”
After quite a while, she finally fished a baguette out of her pocket and handed it to Satania.
“What’s this?”
“I brought it out from Dawnblade, saved especially for you.”
Looking at Letia’s bright, cheerful smile, Satania once again shed tears of gratitude.
“I misjudged you… Letia, you’re truly a good person!”
With that, she took a big bite out of the baguette, which was as hard as an armor-piercing shell.
But in Satania’s hands, it was like a cookie—easily crunched into crumbs.
Watching this, Letia glanced at the remaining half of her own baguette, then pulled out her Cross and gave it a knock.
The metallic clang left her completely silent.
Looking back, Satania had already finished her baguette and was staring hungrily at the half left in Letia’s hand.
“Here… you can have it. I’m not hungry.”
“Thank you!!”
Bidding farewell to Satania, Letia returned to Red’s side.
At this moment, the man hiding in the shadows silently put his hand on Letia’s shoulder and spoke with deep emotion.
“Fun fact: Just now, beside that green-haired girl, there were two dogs in total.”
“???”
Letia spread her hands, sending out a string of question marks.
Before Letia could retort, Red continued.
“So how did you get involved with her? You do know she’s from the Black Church, right?”
“Of course I know,” Letia nodded.
“But what does that have to do with me wanting to play with her?”
“Play with her… I think you’re the one playing her for a fool.”
Red sighed.
“Well, I can’t say about others, but I trust your character. Even though you often act less than human…”
If it were anyone else, even Liz or Red would have to worry, but this was Letia.
You can’t judge her as a human.
“Are you badmouthing me again behind my back?”
Having enjoyed the fun, Letia returned to her usual lazy demeanor.
“Anyway, I might have been enjoying the show, but I was doing my job too.”
With that, Letia took out the Demon Potion Satania had given her earlier.
“Want to see what this is?”
Seeing the blood-red potion, Red was stunned.
He turned to look at Letia’s faintly smiling expression, and after a long silence, he finally couldn’t help but say:
“I have a feeling that girl called Satania will eventually get sold off to Charm Waste Street by you.”
Letia put on a look of compassion, letting out a deep sigh of regret.
“Red, do I really look like someone who’d sell her conscience for money in your eyes?”
“I think you are.”
“I think I’m not.”
“I’ll give you three hundred. Let me pat your head.”
“Deal! Thank you, boss! Love you~ Mua~!”
The righteous look vanished from Letia’s face in an instant.
She even blew a kiss at Red, which he dodged with a blank expression.
Sigh…
Monkey.
Their is no way she doesn’t like him.
Yeah, I seriously doubt she would “offer” herself to anyone aside from Red either, although she’s far from realizing it herself.
Btw the dog stealing the bread while Letia tells Satania to bark at it to communicate… That totally is a scene straight out of Gabriel Dropout lol.
hahaha
