Chapter 12: The Coffin Bearer, Containment No. 004 — “Messiah”

After the limbs were snatched away in an instant.

As if it had noticed them, the “Doll” fitted with human limbs eerily rushed toward Lyle, Rain, and the others.

Rain furrowed her brows.

This situation was too restrictive for her to act freely.

If she made the slightest noise and alerted “Silence,” she would end up just like the few suffering Containment Personnel beside her.

But if she did nothing, Containment Object 278, “Doll,” would soon twist off the heads of her and the captain’s trio.

Just as they were beset from both sides—

“Silence” suddenly sat up from the ground, frantically dashing toward the “Dolls.”

It seemed she couldn’t take it anymore.

If she were killed by the “Dolls,” the consequences would be unpredictable!

Rain’s heart gave a fierce jolt.

She then thought of a certain majestic, breathtaking figure.

Taking a deep breath, she stopped hesitating, dropped to her knees, and began to pray silently to Lu Ming.

Just as “Silence” was about to collide with the “Dolls”—

A stream of black light shot from afar, striking the ground between “Silence” and the “Dolls.”

The earth trembled violently, and the dust thrown up made several people cough uncontrollably.

When the dust settled.

A pitch-black ancient coffin was thrust straight into the ground.

Only half of the coffin protruded above the surface.

“A coffin?” Lyle looked on in puzzled confusion.

Rain couldn’t hide the worry on her face. “Could it be another unknown, uncontained anomaly?”

“The situation’s growing more complicated. Your Highness seems to have heard my prayer, but there’s been no response…”

A faint clicking sound came from inside the coffin.

The atmosphere instantly froze.

“Silence” stood in place, dazed.

Temporarily forgetting the agony brought by sound.

As both humans and containment objects watched.

The coffin slowly rose upward, and a slender hand entered Rain’s line of sight.

Next, a woman with a chilling, corpse-like aura emerged from the ground, holding the coffin aloft.

Her face was cold, her eyes filled with pure white.

There was something inexplicably eerie about her.

She frowned slightly, as if dissatisfied with someone, casually withdrew her hand, and let the black coffin crash to the ground.

Then, she took out a holographic display screen and dialed a number.

“You know I can’t handle so many people at once.”

There was a moment of silence on the other end, then a voice, sounding quite helpless, replied.

“Messiah, that’s my oversight. I’ve only just learned about the containment objects gathering. Just do your best to suppress one of them.”

“Fine.”

After casually ending the call, she seemed to ponder which one to deal with first.

But Rain and her companions were already completely numb, lost in thought.

This woman who flew over carrying a coffin—she was the legendary Containment Object 004.

“Messiah.”

The little girl’s eyes reddened. She strode toward Messiah, then raised her small hand high, aiming for Messiah’s heart.

Her little hand, like a blade, pierced straight through Messiah’s heart. Blood gushed forth, as if from a burst pipe.

A Livestream Room with the title:

“Major Containment Object Breach—Ruthless Anchor’s Exclusive Footage!” appeared on countless people’s recommended pages.

The livestream showed the moment right before “Silence” drove her hand through Messiah’s chest.

The camera angle was from above, yet not far from the scene.

“Hey, that’s Lady Rain! Her silhouette is beautiful. They say she’s the mortal world’s representative of the Goddess of Life.”

“Anchor, wasn’t the City of Lai already evacuated? Why didn’t you run?”

Noticing someone’s question, Anthony, busy adjusting the camera, replied mysteriously,

“Brother, if I’d run, would you be watching this livestream right now?”

“I’ve been watching for a while. If not for that 18+ bloody scene just now, I’d have started streaming earlier.”

“Hiss—that’s the extremely high-risk containment object ‘Silence’ and the medium-risk ‘Doll’! I saw them on the Official Containment Forum!”

Anthony glanced at the chat and shook his head dismissively.

“Brothers, Carnival time! Later, I’ll go downstairs and get some close-up shots for you!”

At these words, several silent IDs started spamming Carnival gifts.

No one cared at all for Anthony’s fate—they just wanted a closer look at the containment objects.

Just as he finished reading these two comments, his stream was suddenly terminated.

Rain stared wide-eyed at the fallen Messiah, whose breathing faded away.

Just…like that.

It ended just like that? This was Containment Object 004, about which the facility had never released any information?

Rain felt it was almost absurd.

Lyle and the others reacted the same way.

But before anyone could ponder for long—

The coffin behind Messiah’s corpse suddenly opened by itself, its interior obscured from view.

“Silence’s” face went blank. A thought arose within her—she had to enter the coffin.

She moved without resistance.

Then lay inside. The black lid shut automatically.

The “Dolls,” previously like puppets under control, began moving again, driven by the instinct to complete their bodies.

They charged madly toward Rain and the others.

But only a moment passed.

The once-sealed coffin lid was suddenly flung open.

It smashed straight into one “Doll” running atop the coffin.

“Silence” climbed out, but her appearance had completely changed—the previous terror and agony gone.

In their place was a chilling indifference.

“This body is so fresh… Practically just out of the factory.”

Messiah commented lightly on her new body, then used the small hand to lift the coffin and leaped over to Rain’s side.

“From here, it’s up to you all, right?”

“I’m a mechanic-type—very strong, but my cooldown’s a bit long. Not really suited for this kind of situation.”

“You should understand what I mean, right?”
