Boom!
Hai Shi was the first to leap off the hillock, stomping her foot onto the Sand Lizard’s head, pressing its haughty head firmly into the ground.
The Electric Saw in her hand buzzed as it prepared to cut through chunks of flesh.
The Sand Lizard angrily flicked its tongue, its hissing becoming urgent.
Its limbs moved quickly as it fled toward the open space behind.
Hai Shi grabbed its antennae and, holding the Electric Saw with one hand, left a deep red gash on the Sand Lizard’s skin.
The Sand Lizard thrashed its head wildly, trying to throw Hai Shi off.
But Hai Shi simply drove the Electric Saw deeper into its skin.
The saw churned through its blood vessels and mangled flesh, spraying bits of tissue onto Hai Shi’s clothes, face, and hair, adding an eerie atmosphere to the otherwise harmless-looking Hai Shi.
Unable to shake Hai Shi off, the Sand Lizard frantically clawed at the dirt, trying to burrow back underground.
“Ou Mi You!”
Hai Shi called into her headset.
Ou Mi You naturally understood what she meant and grabbed a Bone Spear.
“Coming right up!”
The thrown Bone Spear pierced through the Sand Lizard’s tail like a steel spike, pinning it to a rock and rendering it immobile.
The Sand Lizard let out a pained wail.
Its snake-like vertical pupils turned bloodshot.
The tongue it flicked gradually sharpened, finally transforming into a sharp Great Cleaver, slashing at Hai Shi who was about to continue cutting its skin.
Sensing the imminent danger, Hai Shi ducked down to dodge the blow.
The Great Cleaver swung empty and struck the rock, causing the pinning Bone Spear to come loose.
Now freed, the Sand Lizard’s tail worked in tandem with its tongue-turned-Great-Cleaver to attack Hai Shi.
With one hand, Hai Shi pressed down on the incoming tail; with the other, she held her Electric Saw, repeatedly clashing with the Great Cleaver.
The Great Cleaver sometimes turned into a guillotine, descending like the scythe of death straight for Hai Shi’s head, and other times swung from her left waist, catching her off guard.
“Captain?”
Le Paxi asked me, her face carrying an impatient, excited smile.
“Yeah. It’s about time. You can enter, Le Paxi.”
Upon hearing my affirmative reply, Le Paxi immediately hoisted her giant Spiked Hammer and jumped off the hillock.
What magnificent scene would her black dress paint?
Because the position was too awkward, Hai Shi had to let go of the hand pinning the tail and focus entirely on fending off the attacks from both sides.
The flailing tail and tongue kept driving Hai Shi back.
The tail transformed into a spiked Meteor Hammer, but to make matters worse, it could even fire the spikes.
This sudden change made Hai Shi’s eyes widen slightly.
She swung her Electric Saw, cutting off the spikes one by one.
The remaining spikes pierced the Sand Lizard’s own skin, gradually melting and being absorbed.
Just as Hai Shi was fully focused on dealing with the flying spikes, the Great Cleaver, which had been lying in wait, ambushed her from the flank.
The howling wind alerted Hai Shi, but before she could counter, the Great Cleaver was already upon her.
In desperation, she barely managed to raise the Electric Saw in front of her.
Thud!
The violent force caught even Hai Shi off guard, sending her flying.
She was about to fall from a height of over ten meters.
A black, graceful figure flew through the air, perfectly catching the falling Hai Shi, holding her close to her chest.
“You can’t just bow out like that, my little dance partner.”
Hai Shi squirmed in Le Paxi’s arms, making displeased noises.
“Le Paxi, let me go. I can’t breathe. It’s uncomfortable.”
“Hehe, that’s a woman’s pride, Hai Shi. You need to work on developing that area.”
“This kind of thing is just a nuisance.”
Hai Shi struggled out of Le Paxi’s embrace and grabbed her Electric Saw again.
Le Paxi stood beside her.
The Sand Lizard turned its head back, realizing it had another enemy, and its tongue hissing grew louder.
“How about a duet?”
Le Paxi extended her hand to Hai Shi.
After a glance, Hai Shi reluctantly placed her hand in Le Paxi’s.
“Hiss!!”
The Sand Lizard raised its front leg high and slammed it down between the two of them.
Hai Shi and Le Paxi released their hands at the same time.
With just a quick glance, they understood each other’s intentions.
After dodging the slap, Le Paxi swung her Spiked Hammer, smashing it into the front leg.
The spikes on the hammer pierced its skin, and the bones of the foreleg were nearly shattered.
The Sand Lizard struggled to get away, but Le Paxi kept it pinned.
Meanwhile, Hai Shi stepped onto that leg.
The Electric Saw buzzed all the way, instantly tearing the leg open.
The fresh red flesh beneath the rough skin was dragged out and splattered wantonly across the yellow earth.
Hai Shi stepped on the Sand Lizard’s joint and leaped high, cranking the Electric Saw’s power to maximum.
She collided fiercely with the oncoming Great Cleaver.
Though the lizard’s tongue was as hard as steel, under Hai Shi’s full-powered assault, blood gradually oozed from it, dripping onto its own skin like molten lava, causing the Sand Lizard immense pain.
It drove its tail, trying to knock Hai Shi to the ground.
But Le Paxi suddenly appeared before it, striking the tail with a blow that left it dizzy and disoriented.
Hai Shi finally exerted one last burst of force.
The tongue, which had been like a Great Cleaver, was instantly split in half, spraying blood.
The Sand Lizard thrashed about in agony, even rolling on the ground, forcing the two to jump off its back.
Blood began to seep from the corners of the Sand Lizard’s eyes, staining its pupils.
It was nearly mad with rage.
At a speed unimaginable for a body of its size, it kept circling the two of them, kicking up sand and stones as it went.
Eventually, it seemed to stir up a tornado of grit and debris.
Trapped inside, the two struggled with the Sand Lizard’s speed and the resulting dust devil, unable to pinpoint its location.
“Ou Mi You.”
I called out to Ou Mi You, who was leaning against the off-road vehicle nearby, signaling her to get ready.
“Where to throw it?”
“Hmm… Let me see. Three, two, one. Throw it at the rocky area at three o’clock.”
“Got it.”
Ou Mi You hurled another Bone Spear.
This time, the force was a whole different level compared to the previous one.
Combined with the already swirling sand and stones, it exploded into a fountain of dirt and rubble, forcing the Sand Lizard to stop in its tracks.
“Le Paxi, that’s enough.”
I spoke into the headset to Le Paxi on the field.
“Roger.”
Le Paxi dashed in a single stride under the Sand Lizard’s belly.
With an upward strike, she sent the entire lizard’s body reeling backward.
At that moment, Xi Si Te entered.
The drill at the tip of her weapon was already primed, taking Le Paxi’s place and driving straight into the Sand Lizard’s heart.
“Hissah!!!”
The Sand Lizard inexplicably let out an eerie shriek, but then its heart was churned to pulp by the drill, and it could no longer make a sound.
With its heart destroyed, the Sand Lizard’s body began to disintegrate.
Finally, its body burst apart, blood gushing out like a reservoir sluice gate opening, raining down red on the team members present.
The soaked team members did not show disgust; instead, their faces beamed with terrifying smiles, as if what had just happened had satisfied them.
Leng Qiongling stared fixedly at them, momentarily unable to speak.
But she understood one thing, and that was:
‘I must never become such a monster. I must always remain myself, remain… my current self that still seems normal.’
Ou Mi You watched Leng Qiongling, who seemed to have made some kind of resolution, and sighed slightly.
“Sigh, Little Leng, if you think that way, don’t come crying later.”
