“This is truly a pity,” White Feather Dove said, feigning helplessness.
In reality, everyone knew what the other’s goal was. These two were here for her Mother.
However, the surrounding Saintly Officials looked at them confronting each other and felt it was perfectly reasonable. After all, they were rivals.
It seemed that what Xueyuedai and the Witches had discussed earlier was how to infiltrate the Human Race’s Free Project 2.
They had actually managed to get Xueyuedai and Ten-Step Hall transferred to the Holy Church through a certain Magic Family.
Those Magic Families were each more mysterious than the last—the so-called hidden clans.
Even the Holy Church did not know the specific locations of their Family homes, which instead provided the Witches with an opportunity to infiltrate.
But why did they know she was hiding here? This was a Secret base of the Holy Church.
“…Is it this?” White Feather Dove quickly discovered the problem. She looked down at the Rune Sword at her waist.
It was a gift given to her by a Witch, and it contained the Witch’s hidden Magic.
This was equivalent to a tracker. Her movements had been monitored by the Witches from the very beginning.
“Baicheng, I have always felt that you were too smart,” Xueyuedai smiled. “Can we find somewhere else to talk?”
White Feather Dove knew this was a test for her. Fortunately, her Mother was not by her side. She led these two old acquaintances back to her Small Chapel.
“You know what we came here to find. Can you take us to see her?” After closing the door, Xueyuedai didn’t beat around the bush and asked directly.
“Impossible.” White Feather Dove refused flatly. “If it were only you, I would be very welcoming. But with her along, I absolutely will not allow it.”
“I have no malice. I really just want to see Feini.” Ten-Step Hall found a seat and sat down.
She no longer had the brilliant elegance she showed in front of outsiders and began to act repentant.
“To see her again? Are you planning to give her another punch?” White Feather Dove asked in anger.
She wished she could pull out her Sword right now and cut this person’s head open, but Baicheng had self-awareness.
She knew that with her current strength, she could not defeat this person. For now, she could only stall her.
Fortunately, they only knew the location of the Rune Sword and did not know the locations of her other Family members.
“That was my fault. I have already given up everything; I only want to talk with Feini,” Ten-Step Hall pleaded.
“What do you want to talk about? Tell me first,” White Feather Dove said.
“This… I cannot say it. I can only tell Feini.” Ten-Step Hall’s face turned red, and she lowered her head, muttering to herself.
White Feather Dove could tell that her mental state was very unstable.
Someone in this pathetic state couldn’t have infiltrated the Human Race on her own, meaning all of this was arranged by the woman next to her.
White Feather Dove tilted her head to look at Xueyuedai, her eyes turning sharp. But Xueyuedai squinted her eyes again, making it difficult to analyze what she was actually thinking.
Although Xueyuedai had assisted in their escape before, it was impossible to analyze the reason why she did so.
Without a reason or motive, she could not be trusted.
It seemed she really did have other desires now, this Little Fox.
“Student Xue, what exactly are you planning? Why are you helping her? Didn’t you say you hated Ten-Step Hall? Why did you bring her out?” White Feather Dove asked.
“Indeed, I hate her. She treats everyone like tools; she deserves to have no friends.” Xueyuedai nodded.
“Eh?” Ten-Step Hall exclaimed.
“I am not helping her. I am simply utilizing her,” Xueyuedai said.
“Utilizing her for what?” White Feather Dove asked.
“Feini is ultimately a member of Demonkind. She must return to Demonkind. We cannot let her wander among the Human Race and become a weapon for the Human Race,” Xueyuedai said solemnly.
“You went through all that trouble to arrange our escape from the God and Demon Academy to free us from the control of the Witches, and now you want to take Feini back. You say all this is for Demonkind, but in reality, isn’t it just so she can be used by you?” White Feather Dove questioned coldly.
“Feini is the Parasite Demon Sword. Her ability can cultivate and give birth to powerful Mixed-Blood Demonic Beasts like you and Heiqi Long. Moreover, you all can mature and develop in a short amount of time. There is nothing more formidable than this ability to mass-produce Noble Beasts. If Feini were to have a few more children, conquering the world would not be impossible,” Xueyuedai explained.
It seemed that someone had finally realized something was wrong with the Parasite Demon Sword. Her reproductive ability was simply invincible.
It only took two months of pregnancy to give birth, another two months to grow into an adult, and two more months to be able to fight a Red Dragon.
If the Parasite Demon Sword were allowed to have more children, and since her children possessed absolute loyalty to her, wouldn’t that mean ruling the world directly?
“I will not let Mother be reduced to a tool for your breeding.” White Feather Dove’s expression grew darker and darker.
“A pity. The children born of the Demon Sword have too much of a brain. It would be better if they were mindless death-sworn soldiers,” Xueyuedai sneered.
“Did the Witches instruct you?” White Feather Dove asked.
“I remember your relationship with the Witches was quite good. I’m so sorry, but it really was the Witches who authorized us to come here. Without the help of the Witches, Ten-Step Hall and I would have no way to infiltrate the Holy Church, let alone find you,” Xueyuedai said.
“I will not let you achieve your goal.” White Feather Dove slowly stood up, her hand resting on her Grip. She was prepared to start a battle at the slightest disagreement.
“This place is small. I’m afraid of breaking your house. If we’re going to fight, let’s go outside.” Even more surprisingly, Xueyuedai was actually prepared to accept the challenge.
White Feather Dove took the lead and pushed the door open to leave. Xueyuedai followed her out, holding a high-level Human Race Magical Staff.
The two arrived at the corridor in front of the Small Chapel. They didn’t intend to go far, facing each other directly in preparation for battle. Both sides erupted with surging Magic fluctuations and began to condense their techniques.
It just so happened that many Magic Apprentices were passing by.
Although these people usually acted very mysteriously, as soon as they heard someone was having a public Magic duel, they immediately rushed out of the Magician Dormitory to watch.
Magician duels were rare because Magicians placed great importance on their secrets.
A duel was equivalent to exposing one’s secrets. Furthermore, as mentioned before, Magician duels usually turned into wars of attrition.
A Victory or Defeat could not be determined until one side’s Magic was completely exhausted to zero.
Unless they were true enemies who wouldn’t rest until one was dead, they wouldn’t hold a public Magic duel.
As both were Saint Candidates, it was perfectly reasonable for them to fight.
Everyone had been discussing the matter of the Sacred Maiden candidates lately anyway.
They hadn’t expected the war to start now. Was the tension really this heavy?
“Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!”
White Feather Dove was the first to strike with a sneak attack.
With a single glare, she condensed a large number of Dark Moon Spikes, which attacked Xueyuedai from all directions.
This technique of hers was clearly learned from the Black Saintess.
It was a special killing technique that pursued the lowest power consumption and the highest lethality.
Otherwise, she would have been foolish enough to condense a Mana Flying Sword like before, consuming a large amount of Magic, when the actual effect was no different from Magic spikes.
Unless one’s Magic characteristics were naturally difficult to condense, there was no reason to use a Mana Flying Sword.
If one’s Magic was very dense and very easy to condense, one actually didn’t need a Mana Flying Sword.
It could only be said that the former Hero’s Magic level was just so-so.
Qingshamu’s Magic was purely used for weapon enchantment, using raw power to make things work.
Her research and attainments in Magic were like a pile of dung.
Now, after being guided by a professional Magician and having her techniques improved based on her Talent, White Feather Dove’s strength had advanced further.
The laymen watched the excitement, while the experts watched the details.
As the surrounding Magic Apprentices saw this move, they all felt uneasy in their hearts.
If they were the ones standing on the opposite side, would they be able to block these dense, rain-like spike spells that were fast as lightning?
Though they didn’t want to admit it, many Magic Apprentices probably couldn’t even withstand a single move from this white-haired Saint Candidate.
Even if they opened a Magical Barrier, they would be pierced through and die instantly.
However, upon looking closely…
A chill began to spread, and it seemed as though the entire Magic Department had become much, much colder.
The pink-haired Saint Candidate sent by the Central Church summoned a massive block of ice, enveloping herself within. It was a 360-degree defense with no dead angles. Even the rain-like spike Magic could not harm her in the slightest; it could only scratch the surface.
Aside from being unable to move, her giant ice rock was a perfect Magical Barrier. It felt as though even if the entire Magic Department were blown away, her ice stone would remain standing.
“What’s wrong? Baicheng, is this the extent of your strength?” Xueyuedai mocked from inside. “It seems I thought too much of you before. How can you conquer the world with this kind of strength?”
White Feather Dove would not easily fall for her provocation. She gathered even more Magic, forming larger spikes in preparation to impale her.
“Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!”
However, Xueyuedai also raised her hand to condense a large number of ice arrows, starting an infinite barrage of suppressive fire against White Feather Dove.
White Feather Dove was forced to deploy her Dark Moon Shield to block the incoming ice arrows.
Her defensive attributes were also maxed out. The damage from the ice arrows hitting the Dark Moon Shield was negligible. The arrowheads were stuck, and they could barely deal any damage.
This was what had been mentioned before: because of the existence of the Divine Technique that was the Magical Barrier, Magicians had excessive defense and insufficient attack power, which was very counter-intuitive.
Thus, the final state of the battle was the two of them deploying invincible shields and then continuously throwing ice arrows and spikes at each other until one side’s Magic was exhausted.
It was a truly long and tedious combat process, which will be omitted here.
“Stop fighting! Stop fighting!”
“What are you two doing?”
“You are here to be candidates for the Sacred Maiden! Not to be Valkyries!”
In the end, the old priests rushed over to break up the fight. Even the Black Saintess was disturbed and came over to pull the two apart by force. No Victory or Defeat was decided.
“Humph, I’ll let you off for today. We have plenty of time; we will settle the score one day.”
Before leaving, Xueyuedai put on a show and left some harsh words, making everyone believe they had fought because they were competing for the position of Sacred Maiden.
Now, no one doubted their identities. She and Ten-Step Hall directly took up residence in the Magic Department.
