“Pah!”
Upon hearing that, Pikachu couldn’t help but spit to the side.
She spoke up, unable to take it anymore.
“Are you really that naive, or are you just pretending, sister?”
“Even if you look small, don’t tell me you’re still a minor!”
“You don’t look like one to me!”
Naughty Meow replied sheepishly, ” I just graduated from university a year ago and work as a clerk in a company. People always say I look like a child…”
“It’s not like I want to…”
“Stop, stop, stop! Enough!”
Pikachu interrupted Naughty Meow.
At 200 pounds and looking like a professional wrestler, she couldn’t stand hearing such talk.
However, she didn’t lash out at her.
Instead, she turned to Yi Mo.
“Shiba Daye, are you really the Hunter?”
“I might not be the best player, but I’ve played Werewolf Kill before. I know better than to just believe whatever someone claims to be.”
“Also, have you figured out who looks like a Werewolf?”
Yi Mo replied with certainty, “I’m the Hunter, of course. What else could I be?”
“As for the Werewolves, it’s too early to talk about that.”
“The game has only just begun, and we have too little information.”
“Besides, this is a game where people actually die. I don’t want to give my personal conclusions so early.”
“By the way, what is your identity?”
Pikachu nodded.
“You’re kindhearted, but being kind is useless in this kind of game. I’ve played two games before, and the people in them were more devious than the last.”
As she spoke, she pointed at Naughty Meow.
“The ones who look like this are the most dangerous! Their hearts might be pitch black!”
“Ugh…”
Naughty Meow looked aggrieved.
Pikachu had a straightforward personality.
Seeing Naughty Meow like that, she hugged her shoulders and shuddered.
She stopped looking at her and said to Yi Mo, “Look, I can only tell you that I received a Good Person Card. That is absolutely the truth!”
“But as for my specific identity…”
She glanced at Dieyu and Naughty Meow.
“I can’t say it here. I can tell you in secret later.”
“Right now, I suspect that one of you two little girls is definitely a Werewolf!”
After saying that, she counted on her fingers.
“Think about it. There are twelve of us and four girls. Just by probability, at least one of us has to be a Werewolf!”
“That particularly gloomy little girl doesn’t look like a Werewolf to me.”
“Hah, I don’t know why, but I just feel like she isn’t!”
“So, one of you two must be a Werewolf!”
Pikachu frowned, looking very serious.
Dieyu and Naughty Meow naturally refused to admit it.
Pikachu shook her head and sighed.
“Fine, let me say this first.”
“I have a blunt personality and a bit of a mean mouth. That’s because you guys are pretty, and it honestly annoys the hell out of me!”
“We’ve been assigned to the same group, and we’re all women. It’s fate. Just don’t Knife me first. Let me live for a few days, and we can settle who wins in the final circle!”
Dieyu smiled, choosing not to address the comment.
Instead, she said playfully, “Sister Pikachu, you can use your Points to make yourself look better.”
“Maybe you couldn’t before, but you can always do it now.”
Pikachu clapped her hands.
“I’ve thought about it, but it’s not realistic!”
“Changing one’s physical appearance in reality costs way too many Points. How many games would I have to play for that?”
“I’d be better off going to a plastic surgery clinic, though with my looks, there’s probably no hope even there.”
“Besides, I can’t stand being delicate like you girls. This muscle on my arms makes me feel much more secure.”
“In the last game, I took down four strong men all by myself. Hahaha…”
As Pikachu spoke, she started laughing, even looking a bit embarrassed.
Yi Mo listened to the three girls chatting beside him.
It felt like a first for him.
He had no intention of joining in.
Instead, he suddenly felt a sense of peace.
Under the comfortable shade of the tree, he wanted to take a short nap.
But… he couldn’t sleep after all.
The first and second groups had begun to return one after another.
***
The weather was too hot, so everyone skipped the circular table and instead moved their stools under the tree.
Baiduren, who had a serious personality and had previously suspected Yi Mo, was deep in thought.
He didn’t step forward.
Instead, it was the eldest, Old Six Du, who spoke up.
“Young friend Shiba Daye, there are fourteen thatched huts in total. The layout and items inside are identical. I can’t see any difference.”
“They are crude, but I have no problem with them. I just don’t know if you young people can get used to living there.”
“There are nameplates at the entrance of each hut. It seems our sleeping arrangements have already been settled, so there’s no need to fight or scramble for them.”
“We didn’t find much else.”
Upon hearing this, Yi Mo thought for a moment and asked, “There are twelve of us. Do the two extra rooms have nameplates?”
“Is there any difference between the items in those rooms and the other huts?”
“Also, I visited a wooden house earlier, and there were dangerous items like matches inside. You didn’t steal any, did you?”
Old Six Du quickly waved his hands.
“How could we take them? There are four people in a group. If someone tried something sneaky, the others would surely see it.”
“They are the same as the other rooms, no difference.”
“Oh, and there are four toilets in the four corners. They’re fairly clean.”
After confirming the information, Yi Mo looked toward the second group.
Conan adjusted his glasses.
“There is a rice field and a vegetable plot to the north of the village. It’s more than enough to provide for our meals.”
“To the south, there is a small hill. Great Emperor Zhenwu and I went up there, but we didn’t find anything.”
He then pointed at the Ordinary Girl Village Chief and Unrivaled.
“Those two didn’t go. It has nothing to do with us.”
“By the way, near the vegetable plot, if you follow the hill toward the back, there is a slightly larger building.”
“It’s an Ancestral Hall. It’s filled with memorial tablets and feels quite eerie.”
“Heh, I wanted to find some clues, but before I could look carefully, I was ushered away by these people.”
“I don’t know if they have some other motive.”
“Behind the Ancestral Hall is a large lake surrounded by trees.”
We didn’t explore it.
“Looking down from the hill, on the other side of the forest across the lake, there is a cemetery.”
“We didn’t have time to check it out before we ran into the first group and came back together.”
After Conan finished, his face showed some weariness, as if he were extremely dissatisfied with his group members.
The Ordinary Girl Village Chief was very gloomy and sharp-tongued.
Although Unrivaled had embarrassed himself earlier, he was essentially a rogue who refused to listen to him.
Great Emperor Zhenwu was decent enough, but Conan felt like the man was intentionally looking after him, making Conan feel like a little brother!
How could this be?
He was a veteran player of this game and the president of the board game club!
Sigh… it was very frustrating.
He also kept eyeing Yi Mo, attempting to find a flaw that proved he wasn’t the Hunter.
Unrivaled stepped forward, arguing, “Hey, Little Four-Eyes, don’t talk nonsense!”
“Who knows what you and that big guy were doing on that hill?”
“Big Brother Shiba Daye, this Little Four-Eyes clearly isn’t a good person. He’s always hanging his head, who knows what he’s thinking? He’s probably plotting who to kill tonight!”
“And he’s suspiciously interested in that Ancestral Hall!”
Conan adjusted his glasses.
“The more a place looks like that, the more likely it is to hide clues. It might even hide information about who the Werewolf is!”
“If you’re so scared, does that mean you’re the Werewolf?”
Though Unrivaled feared Yi Mo, he wasn’t afraid of Conan.
He immediately snapped back, “Nonsense! I’m a good person. Don’t even try to frame me!”
He then turned to explain to Yi Mo, “By the way, Big Brother, the reason I didn’t go up was because I saw this freckled girl wasn’t going. I was worried she was up to something, so I stayed to supervise her!”
The ordinary maiden glared at Unrivaled but ignored him.
Yi Mo knew full well that Unrivaled was just being lazy and didn’t want to climb the hill.
He didn’t intend to press the issue and waved his hand.
“Alright, alright, I get it.”
“Let’s leave it at that. Today is safe anyway. The afternoon is still long, so feel free to move around in your groups.”
“And then…”
Yi Mo was about to announce the next arrangement when Baiduren interrupted him.
“Shiba Daye, you haven’t said what your group found yet.”Yi Mo didn’t hide anything and answered honestly, “You can’t leave the village; the System blocks it. At the wooden gate at the western entrance, the System has spawned food. If you’re hungry, you can go eat.”
“There’s a high probability it will spawn again tomorrow, so there’s no need to go out of your way to collect vegetables and cook.”
Everyone nodded, though they didn’t seem very interested in food.
After all, the game hadn’t been going on for very long.
Combined with the anxiety of being in a Death Game, most people didn’t have much of an appetite.
Only Great Emperor Zhenwu was stunned for a moment before running toward the gate.
“Hey, Big Guy, where are you going?”
Before Yi Mo could speak, Unrivaled shouted at him.
Great Emperor Zhenwu replied without looking back, “Play the game all you want, but you have to eat!”
“I’m starving!”
“Don’t worry, I’ll bring some for you guys too!”
Unrivaled watched him, looking somewhat disdainful.
“Sigh, what a simple-minded guy with more brawn than brains. Is he a glutton? He actually has the mood to eat.”
“In this heat, too!”
Then, Yi Mo poked him with a wooden stick.
“You go too. Don’t let him be alone.”
“There are three bamboo baskets. Help him bring one over!”
Unrivaled froze, his face falling.
“Oh! My God!”
He was about to leave when Baiduren stopped him.
“Don’t make him go. I’ll do it!”
Baiduren’s reasoning was simple: he was disgusted by how dirty Unrivaled was.
Yi Mo didn’t refuse and nodded.
Unrivaled shrugged innocently.
“Ha… Big Brother, you saw that. It’s not that I wasn’t willing to go!”
“Hahaha…”
And so, Great Emperor Zhenwu and Baiduren brought the food to the Great Banyan Tree.
Baiduren rubbed his nose and said, “Shiba Daye, what were you going to say? Continue.”
“I hope you can offer some substantive suggestions so I can see if you’re worth being the Village Chief.”
Yi Mo waved his hand dismissively.
“What’s the point? To find out who the Werewolf is?”
Baiduren said, “That would be for the best.”
Yi Mo shook his head.
“I didn’t become the Village Chief because I’m a smart veteran player or because I have great logical thinking.”
As Yi Mo spoke, he looked at Conan and Baiduren respectively, then said as if it were a matter of course, “It’s because I’m the Hunter. I have a gun, and you don’t.”
“I’m a good person, and you all know it. That’s why I’m the Village Chief.”
“Who is the Werewolf?”
“Sorry, I don’t know.”
“I also don’t believe my judgment is that accurate.”
“But it doesn’t matter. Everyone’s eyes are wide open.”
“You’ve all been in contact with each other for two hours, right?”
“I’m sure you’ve noticed who seems suspicious or strange.”
“So next, I’ll find a room and talk to everyone one-on-one.”
“Tell me whoever you think looks most like a Werewolf, or whoever is the most suspicious. Just say whatever you want!”
“Of course, if someone wants to step up and admit they’re a Werewolf, that would be even better!”
“Heh, everyone, let’s have a Confession Round!”
Yi Mo stood up.
Looking at the bewildered crowd, he covered his left eye with his left hand.
His posture was a bit dramatic, like a Great Demon King who held everything in his grasp.
It intimidated most of them.
