‘Bai Yu seems very happy…’
Loweia gripped the bathroom doorframe, poking her small head out to look toward the living room.
At that moment, Bai Yu was sitting on the sofa making a phone call.
Although she couldn’t hear the specifics of their conversation, Loweia could hear Bai Yu’s crisp laughter.
She looked truly happy.
Who on earth was she talking to?
Why was she laughing so happily?
For some reason, as Loweia observed Bai Yu, her heart felt a bit itchy, as if a fluffy little paw were gently scratching at it.
It made her chest feel restless and uneasy.
Who was that person?
Why did Bai Yu laugh so happily while talking to them?
Who was it?
Was it that superior named Mu Yue she had heard about?
Or was it Su Keke, the girl they met the other day who wanted to drag Bai Yu into danger?
Or was it someone else Loweia didn’t know?
Loweia could feel an inexplicable urge rising from the depths of her heart.
She wanted to know—she wanted to know exactly what Bai Yu was saying to the other person and why she was showing such a happy smile.
The young girl bit her lip softly.
After one last look at Bai Yu in the living room, she turned and retreated into the bathroom.
She turned off the shower, took a towel to dry herself, and changed into the loose-fitting nightgown Bai Yu had prepared for her.
Drying her damp, silvery-white hair with a towel, the girl left the bathroom.
It just so happened that Bai Yu had also put down her phone and saw Loweia walking out.
“Wei Ya, are you finished?”
“Mhm.”
Loweia gave a soft response, her face maintaining its usual expression.
She didn’t let Bai Yu notice the thoughts weighing on her mind.
“Alright then, let me help you dry your hair.”
Bai Yu tossed her phone onto the sofa and took out the hairdryer.
Just like before, Loweia sat obediently on the chair, letting Bai Yu’s gentle fingers run through her hair.
The warm air brushed against her scalp, bringing a comfortable warmth.
Bai Yu’s movements were as gentle as ever, as if she were tending to a precious treasure.
“Bai Yu…”
While her hair was being dried, Loweia hesitated for a moment before deciding to follow her heart and ask about what had just happened.
“What is it?”
“It’s just… while I was showering, I thought I heard you on the phone. Was it about the place to stay?”
“That’s right. You guessed it immediately, Wei Ya.”
Unaware of the girl’s inner turmoil, Bai Yu continued drying her hair, not forgetting to confirm Loweia’s guess.
“Just now, I got a call from Mu Yue. She was very busy today and had several meetings, so she didn’t have time to get back to me until now. She called to say that the place to stay has been found.”
“I see.”
Hearing this, Loweia felt a slight sense of relief in her heart.
So that was it.
It seemed Bai Yu was happy because the housing situation was settled, and she was excited about their new home.
She hadn’t been chatting with some strange woman Loweia didn’t know, nor was she laughing for someone else’s sake.
As expected, she had overthought it.
For some reason, Loweia found that she had been prone to overthinking things more and more lately.
What was happening to her?
Just thinking about the fact that Bai Yu could laugh so happily when facing others made her heart feel that strange itch again.
She wanted Bai Yu to only smile at her.
She wanted Bai Yu to only look at her.
She wanted Bai Yu to stay by her side forever.
She wanted…
The seed called possession began to sprout in her heart.
She… wanted to monopolize Bai Yu.
She wanted Bai Yu’s smile to belong to her alone.
She wanted Bai Yu’s eyes to be filled only with her. She wanted…
‘No!’
Loweia suddenly slapped her own cheeks.
What was she thinking?
Why did she harbor such extreme feelings toward Bai Yu?
It was as if she wanted to treat Bai Yu as her own exclusive property.
‘This won’t do… I can’t have such extreme thoughts.’
Loweia shook her head vigorously, trying to dispel the dangerous idea from her mind.
‘No, no!’
Bai Yu was so good to her, so gentle.
How could she have such selfish and dangerous thoughts?
If Bai Yu found out, she would surely think Loweia was a terrifying person.
She might even be frightened.
Bai Yu certainly wouldn’t like her if she were like that.
‘I can’t… I can’t think like this.’
Loweia couldn’t help but pat her cheeks again, trying to use the sensation to clear her head.
It was frightening.
Why would she have such a terrible thought?
Even though she and Bai Yu hadn’t restored their Lover Relationship and were still just friends, she had inexplicably developed a sense of possessiveness toward Bai Yu.
If Bai Yu knew, she would definitely be afraid.
Perhaps she would even think Loweia had become a stranger, someone who no longer matched the image in her memories, and distance herself because of it.
‘No, no… I don’t want things to turn out like that.’
Of course, what Loweia didn’t know was that if Bai Yu actually knew she was having such thoughts, she would probably be popping champagne in her heart.
How was the progress moving even faster than she had anticipated?
When Loweia was patting her cheeks, Bai Yu also noticed her strange behavior and quickly switched off the hairdryer.
“Wei Ya? What’s wrong? Is it too hot?”
Seeing the concern in Bai Yu’s eyes, Loweia shook her head in a mild panic.
She didn’t want Bai Yu to worry, nor did she want her to know about the terrifying thoughts she just had.
She could only squeeze out a weak voice to try and defend herself.
“I’m… I’m fine… I’m just a little sleepy and wanted to wake myself up.”
“Is that so? It’s okay. You don’t have to force yourself, Wei Ya. Let’s go to bed early tonight. We have to wake up early tomorrow to pack and get ready to move.”
“Mhm…”
—
Early the next morning, Bai Yu woke up first and then roused Loweia from her slumber.
The girl was somewhat dazed, but after remembering they were moving today, she patted her cheeks to wake herself up.
After finishing breakfast, the two of them got busy.
Although they were moving, there wasn’t actually that much to take with them.
It was mainly clothes and some daily necessities.
Loweia didn’t have many things.
Besides the clothes in the wardrobe, there were only the photos on the bedside table and that Small Desk Lamp.
In comparison, Bai Yu had significantly more items.
Naturally, it wasn’t just Bai Yu’s things here; some of her younger sister’s belongings were also kept here.
The reason Bai Yu had rented a house with two rooms was so that one of them could be for her sister when she came home for the holidays.
After picking up Loweia, she had stuffed all of her sister’s things into her own room in one go and then redecorated the room Loweia was currently using.
Fortunately, Loweia hadn’t noticed anything unusual.
Once the luggage was packed, the moving truck arrived downstairs right on time.
After spending some time getting everything loaded onto the truck, the two of them got into another car Mu Yue had arranged for them.
As the car doors closed, the vehicle carrying them slowly started, driving them away from the Old Urban District.
Loweia’s gaze followed the street scenery receding through the window as she silently said goodbye to it all in her heart.
After this, they probably wouldn’t be coming back.
Though she felt a slight sense of lingering attachment, she felt even more anticipation for their new life.
As long as she was with Bai Yu, it didn’t matter where they went.
