“I’ll make it clear—I witches can only improve ourselves by… umm, you know, this and that… Do you get it now? You’re my hope for promotion and raise. We’re like grasshoppers tied on the same string.”
Faceless Witch didn’t hold anything back, revealing all the information she had just introduced, hoping to gain Feini’s trust with it.
Feini had known it all along, but she still pretended to ponder deeply, comparing Faceless Witch’s words to her own understanding.
“What benefit do we get from your promotion and raise?” Feini asked coldly. “You promised a big house, but now there’s only a wooden hut. Your words aren’t trustworthy at all. You just want to use us.”
“Are you suffering postpartum depression? Your paranoia is so serious. I can’t talk to you!” Faceless Witch snapped in anger and floated away.
But when night came…
The calmer Faceless Witch reappeared beside Feini, earnestly persuading her, “Feini, only when I make a name for myself can I get you that big house. My current authority isn’t enough, so you have to help me.”
Her tone was like a scumbag conman cozying up to a rich woman for support.
“I’m only trusting you this once. Don’t try to fool me again.” Feini sounded like a coaxed widow, quick to believe at the slightest gentleness, though how many times she had said that was anyone’s guess.
“Vacation’s over. You should go back to class,” Faceless Witch said. “Otherwise, I can’t keep helping you. I’ll arrange Baige to enroll first, Black Dragon can wait.”
“Take good care of Little Black for me.” Feini looked resolute, as if ready to face death.
“Leave it to me. I’m done being a recruitment officer. I won’t be running around anymore. I’ll prepare special lessons for Little Black here in advance.” Faceless Witch replied solemnly.
—————
Before long, the first vacation of the First-year High School Department ended.
The Demonic Beast students returned one after another to the God and Demon Academy.
After some time to settle, they no longer laughed and joked like at the start of school, and they had learned to hide their violent tendencies.
Because there are always stronger demons outside.
The so-called genius little Demonic Beasts had witnessed terrifying existences even more gifted than themselves, so survival meant knowing how to restrain oneself.
“That’s Simon.”
“Wow! She’s really beautiful!”
“There’s a rumor she might be the legendary Rumored Red Dragon, mastering the ultimate flame magic.”
“That would be incredible.”
Before long, the golden-eyed girl who shone like the sun appeared on the way to school, instantly stirring up a commotion.
She still smiled at everyone, but she wasn’t in the mood to greet anyone. It was as if a layer of worry and distance had fallen over her.
Ten-Step Hall returned to the Second Year Class 1 classroom and found someone had arrived even earlier.
It was Qingshamu.
She stood like a pervert by the desk in the far corner.
“Move aside.” Ten-Step Hall walked over and provoked.
Because her seat was right in front — the so-called protagonist’s seat.
“It’s all your fault.” Qingshamu stared coldly at her. “Do you enjoy bullying others?”
“Survival of the Fittest is our truth. If I annoy you, bully me. A mere Trap Monster has no right to sit here, yet you always stand up for others? You’re our class’s Special Excellent Student. Don’t embarrass us.” Ten-Step Hall didn’t even turn back, her arrogance on full display.
This reminded Qingshamu—she was actually an undercover.
Her behavior didn’t really resemble a Demonic Beast. Demonic Beasts wouldn’t have such a conscience, wouldn’t care for or protect the weak, unless there was some special connection.
“We have chances to spar, but I don’t want our duel to be because of a lowly terrifying little monster,” Ten-Step Hall criticized on her own.
“I’ve seen through you. You pretend to be gentle in front of others, but you’re utterly hypocritical inside.” Qingshamu snapped.
“I thought you’d seen through me long ago.” Ten-Step Hall smiled.
Just then, a classmate came in.
Qingshamu stopped arguing and returned to her seat.
“Simon, Ailuma, good morning.”
“Good morning, everyone.”
“Brothers, long time no see.”
After a long time apart, everyone exchanged greetings, and the classroom quickly became lively.
But suddenly, the whole class quieted down again…
Qingshamu, who had been sitting there acting cool, sensed a familiar scent float past from behind. She suddenly stood up.
There was her longed-for jet-black figure!
That familiar yet strange Dark Female entered the class from the back door and sat in the seat that had been empty for some time.
Still timid and shrinking back, still with that timid widow look, but after some time recovering, her complexion was much rosier and she’d gained a little weight.
Her bangs had been trimmed, finally revealing her eyes.
Only then did everyone realize how beautiful Feini really was!
Most women get out of shape after childbirth, but how did she get even more beautiful?
Though Feini still carried that strong widow aura, everyone wore suit jackets, and with the weather turning cold, she wore a simple gray sweater to keep warm.
Bandages wrapped around her neck, thighs, and arms hinted at injuries, making her look fragile and helpless—someone who stirred sympathy.
Feini acted nonchalant, taking out her textbooks from the locker and obediently preparing for class.
Most classmates didn’t pay her much mind, but the three in Dorm 302 were full of questions.
Especially Qingshamu, whose eyes never left Feini. If it weren’t for the Witch Homeroom Teacher arriving, she might have already charged forward.
“Feini, welcome back.” Ten-Step Hall greeted gently, turning slightly.
“Mm.” Feini responded indifferently, not even looking up.
“I’m really sorry about last time. I was reckless. I sincerely apologize. Can you forgive me?” Ten-Step Hall was stunned by Feini’s coldness but quickly recovered, speaking with a tone thick with politeness.
Feini pretended not to hear, remaining silent.
This made Ten-Step Hall very awkward; her smile froze completely.
This was Feini’s method for dealing with such syrupy words.
Because any answer—yes or no—would be disgusting, so she just didn’t respond and pretended not to hear.
“Long time no see, class. Time for class, no more noise,” the Witch Class Teacher joked. “Feini, you’re back! I thought you were dead.”
“Almost was. What a pity.” Feini replied sarcastically.
Ten-Step Hall turned away, her smile completely gone.
This Dark Female had successfully caught her attention. She wondered why a mere Trap Monster dared to act so brazenly in front of her.
But after class, someone was even more anxious than Ten-Step Hall.
Qingshamu slid and instantly teleported next to Feini, saying, “Feini, can we talk?”
