The Goblins attempting to block her path along the way were like paper, easily sliced and shredded.
Her speed increased, and a trail of blood extended continuously behind her.
Viviya was scared out of her wits, frantically retreating.
“No! Don’t come any closer! Guards! Guards!!”
Several elite Goblin guards held heavy shields, blocking the front of the high platform.
Ling Xiya’s eyes turned cold, and the small knife in her hand flew out!
Whoosh!
The flying knife sliced through the air with a sharp whistle, precisely passing through a gap in one Goblin guard’s shield before sinking deep into his eye socket with a thud!
That Goblin guard didn’t even have time to scream before he collapsed straight back.
Taking advantage of the moment the other guards were stunned, Ling Xiya rushed up the stairs of the platform.
Her bare feet stepped on blood and Goblin corpses, making a sticky, squelching sound.
“No… please…”
Viviya collapsed to the ground in terror, crawling backward with eyes full of despair.
She watched Ling Xiya approach step by step.
That face, stained with blood, looked like a Shura from hell.
Ling Xiya walked up to Viviya and stopped.
She looked down, using those emotionless, crazed eyes to gaze upon this Commander of the Goblin Army.
“You… disturbed… me and Master…”
Ling Xiya said slowly, her voice terrifyingly calm.
Viviya opened her mouth, wanting to say something — perhaps to beg for mercy, or perhaps to question her.
But Ling Xiya gave her no chance.
She slowly crouched down and picked up a broken Goblin spear that Viviya had dropped on the ground.
“Stop—!”
A shrill scream pierced the chaotic battlefield.
At the crucial moment, a vigorous figure rushed out from the shadows on the side of the platform like black lightning!
“Your Majesty, be careful!”
The newcomer wore a set of relatively fine black leather armor, which was extremely rare among Goblins.
He held a small round shield with worn edges.
He was heavily built with a resolute face; it was Raymond.
Raymond’s speed was at its limit.
He didn’t even have time to perform a more complex move and could only thrust the small round shield forward with all his might, using his own body as a barrier to stand in front of Viviya.
Squelch—
The sharp tip of the spear pierced the center of the small round shield without suspense.
That shield, which wasn’t very sturdy to begin with, was instantly penetrated by the immense force.
Wood chips flew! The broken spear tip’s momentum remained undiminished as it buried itself deep into Raymond’s chest.
“Ugh…”
Raymond let out a muffled groan, his body trembling violently.
He looked down at the spear tip protruding from his chest, then looked up at the girl before him who resembled a Shura from hell.
A flash of unbelievable horror crossed his eyes, followed by deep pain and determination.
“Queen… go, quickly…”
Using the last of his strength, he reached out, wanting to push Viviya away.
Ling Xiya’s eyes didn’t flicker in the slightest, as if what she had pierced wasn’t a living being but merely a piece of wooden clutter.
The hand holding the spear suddenly twisted and yanked!
Swish—
A spray of hot blood erupted, dyeing half of her body red and splashing all over Viviya’s face and body.
Raymond’s massive frame swayed, his eyes quickly losing focus.
Finally, he fell straight back, slamming heavily at Viviya’s feet and kicking up a cloud of dust.
His eyes were wide open, staring even in death.
“Raymond!”
Viviya let out a heart-wrenching wail.
She looked at the hideous bloody hole in Raymond’s chest and his gradually cooling body, completely breaking down.
This Queen, who was usually high and mighty and gave orders with composure, was now left with nothing but endless fear and despair.
Ling Xiya shook the blood off the spear and once again cast her cold gaze upon Viviya, who was slumped on the ground, preparing to make the final strike.
Her movements didn’t pause for a second, as if the preceding interlude had merely been brushing away a bit of insignificant dust.
In those crazed eyes, there was only one thought — clear all obstacles disturbing her and her ‘Master’.
“Just who… are you?”
A steady voice carrying a hint of anger exploded at the top of the platform like a clap of thunder.
This voice…
Ling Xiya’s movements suddenly jerked to a halt, and the hand holding the spear trembled slightly.
She slowly turned her head and looked toward the direction of the voice.
There at the entrance of the platform stood a middle-aged man dressed in a gray robe.
He had a lean, scholarly face and deep eyes, carrying a stability that had weathered many storms.
Although the surrounding slaughter was deafening and flesh was flying everywhere, it seemed as if he was shrouded in an invisible barrier, isolating him from the external clamor and gore.
Kai.
Seeing Kai’s appearance, Viviya felt as if she had caught a final lifeline.
She scrambled toward Kai’s direction, wailing, “Sir! Save me! Quickly, save me! This madwoman wants to kill me!”
Kai’s gaze ignored Viviya.
His eyes were locked tightly onto Ling Xiya, his brow furrowed and his eyes full of wariness.
