The room’s arrangement was hard to describe; no matter how they placed those ornate pieces of furniture, the dungeon room always gave off an uncanny feeling, like being trapped underground.
Although Clorel’s standards for living were low, Su Yao still wanted to stay in a room that felt more human-like, at least with some natural lighting.
It seemed she would have to fence off a piece of land outside the Dungeon and build a proper house herself.
After putting this new plan on the agenda, Su Yao finally noticed the chestnut-haired maid sprawled on the table, staring at him with dead fish eyes full of resentment.
There was a good reason for it; after all, the task of decorating a room couldn’t be entrusted to a little girl with only 4 points in Strength.
But as a boss, he had to reward his hardworking employee.
He opened the Dungeon Shop and spent 100 DP from the treasure box rewards to buy an 【Ordinary Chest—Food】.
Every time he opened this chest, it felt like opening a blind box because, in Su Yao’s understanding, there were so many things that could count as food.
Su Yao handed today’s reward to Clorel—a hamburger and fries set.
Damn, he was already craving it himself.
“You eat first. I’ll go get some water outside.”
Seeing Clorel’s dead fish eyes clear up, Su Yao felt relieved—so relieved that drool almost dribbled down his chin.
No choice, he grabbed a water flask and went to the center of the Dungeon to fetch some water. If he stayed any longer, he feared he’d waste another 100 DP out of mere appetite.
——
Beside the large fountain in the center of the Dungeon, water glowing with a faint blue light continuously poured from the top.
No wonder this was a magical world—such a dreamlike scene was hard to come by in his old world (and if it were common, that would have been a problem).
Su Yao dipped the water flask into the spring, and it instantly filled.
However, when he tried to lift it back out, it took a tremendous effort. He felt some force pulling the flask downward.
“Strange.”
Even with only 4 Strength points, he shouldn’t have had trouble lifting a full water flask.
He tried a few more times, but it was no use.
Suddenly, a cool, slippery sensation crept up his hand to his arm.
Startled by this sudden stimulus, Su Yao loosened his grip.
He stepped back a few paces, and the “water flask” jumped out of the fountain by itself—or rather, a round, gel-like creature wrapped around the flask hopped out.
He was pleasantly surprised—there was new life already in the Dungeon.
A slime. A Water Slime. He had already planned this when he purchased this magic spring.
It could serve as a “mana source” to attract creatures and monsters, provide drinking water for himself and Clorel, and generate slimes to earn DP daily.
Three birds with one stone!
“All right, little one, give me back my flask.”
The pale blue slime ignored its Dungeon master’s command. Not only that, it splashed water all over Su Yao’s face, then turned and jumped back into the fountain—of course, it took Su Yao’s flask with it.
Was he being disrespected by a slime?
The Dungeon Core being played like this by a creature inside her own Dungeon—this was intolerable!
She rolled up her sleeves and grabbed the flask, determined to reclaim what was rightfully hers!
……
“So you got pulled into the fountain by it, and then got stuck inside, unable to get out?”
“I’ve been holding back on you for a long time. You’ve been laughing nonstop!”
“Sorry, I just couldn’t help it.”
When Clorel arrived, the golden-haired girl was floundering in the fountain. Looking closely, there was still a layer of water film on her body.
Luckily, the dagger could cut through this film, or Su Yao might have become the first person ever to lose to a slime.
Unlike Clorel, who was trying hard not to laugh, Su Yao bit his teeth and glared at the curved bulge in the water.
Although he realized the Dungeon Core didn’t seem to need to breathe air, the feeling of suffocation was still unpleasant. More importantly, his Royal Majesty had been violated!
At this moment, he no longer cared about the daily DP income.
Without hesitation, Su Yao spent another 30 Gold Coins to purchase a 【Gorgeous Chest—Level 1 Fire Spell Scroll】 and an 【Exquisite Chest—Wooden Staff】.
“Here, these are for you.”
“Eh? Really?”
Clorel knew exactly what that scroll did because, not knowing how to use a dagger at all, she immediately changed her demeanor after receiving a scroll labeled “Scroll of Level 1 Dagger Technique.”
If she used the scroll and then got surrounded by soldiers, she was confident she could take them by surprise and break free.
“Take them quickly, use them, and then vaporize that damn slime for me!”
The chestnut-haired maid stared at the soaking wet Su Yao in front of her, a little stunned.
Even though she was a monster, the fact that he thought of her first when it came to delicious and useful things— and was so generous— moved her deeply.
Unconsciously, Clorel recalled the night at the inn when she had tried to forcibly kiss him—if she could form an inseparable bond with Su Yao, would he help her take revenge unconditionally?
For someone who always upheld kindness and justice, she was now facing her own baseness. Regret mingled with a new feeling blooming in her heart.
“Thank you.”
Su Yao was a little confused hearing her cold thanks. His attitude had clearly shifted quite a bit.
Of course, he had no idea what Clorel was thinking. If he did, he would have loudly explained—he just wanted to avoid trouble.
After all, as the saying goes— when there’s work, the maid handles it; when there’s none, the maid is free.
Damn, he suddenly missed his little brother.
Clorel took the scrolls and began reading. Soon, the parchment transformed into particles of light and vanished within the Dungeon.
An obscure incantation was spoken, and the guilty Water Slime was hit by a small fireball, turning into a wisp of white smoke.
“Well done!”
Su Yao retrieved his dearly missed water flask and hurried back to the room with Clorel, where they each poured a glass of water and drank.
There was no remarkable sensation— if anything, just a bit of refreshing clarity.
After drinking, he decided to check both Clorel’s and his own status panels.
【Level】: Lv2
【Life】: 26
【Strength】: 9
【Agility】: 11
【Magic】: 29
【Skills】: Light Magic Lv3, Court Etiquette Lv6
【Innate Skill】: Royal Majesty
Compared to Clorel, his own panel had increased significantly. He wasn’t sure if it was from leveling up or the magic spring water.
But why did he level up again?
After thinking it over, he figured it must have been because of the Water Slime Clorel had just vaporized.
So it seemed that both he and Clorel could keep leveling up by farming Dungeon monsters?
Su Yao probed the Dungeon’s status in his mind; a new Water Slime hadn’t yet been born—what a pity.
However, from the fact that he leveled up but Clorel didn’t, the required number of monsters to kill per level might differ. It might also relate to the strength of the monsters defeated.
This needed further testing. But killing the Dungeon Boss Water Slime definitely gave him a level up…
Looking over at Clorel drying his clothes, Su Yao smiled brightly.
